It's sad when institutions refuse to accept that the world has changed. Selling commercials for "live" terrestrial stations is a dying industry, especially if you're marketing to the young. Just put the show's highlights on TH-cam, pick a streaming service, and stop raging against the tide.

Dude, I am from Israel and I can guarantee you that if the entire government is replaced today and Netanyahu is no longer the prime minister, the war will continue in the same way. The entire country of Israel is behind our military and wants to see them to continue in the same way against the terrorists. And I extremely dislike Netanyahu.
Ah, finally! Jon Stewart is always surprising but this one...this "I believe antisemitism will be fine" moment was brilliant. And not just that. This entire 14 minutes was brilliant even for him. He hit every base imaginable and didn't miss. Not once.

I agree - all but he made it sound like Israel had no reason to bomb Lebanon at all. Hezbollah has been striking northern Israel several times a day since Oct 8. All the residents have had to relocate ( as well as the ones near Gaza).

Jon Stewart dares to criticize anyone and everyone, and he is in his own unique funny way, more honest than almost anybody in telling what he sees, like it or not. He is a symbol of the free press and therefore, a world treasure. (I think he has already won the Mark Twain prize, deservedly so.)
As long as the network didn't think it was going to affect their bottom line I don't think they really care.
What's amazing is that Jon Stewart returns to this show and he's the funniest I've ever seen him, and I used to watch this show every day as a teen in his prime.

I was the lone holdout of my friends and family who was still watching all of the late night shows (Fallon, Kimmel, Colbert, Meyers)...up until October 7th of last year. I grew up watching Leno, Letterman, and the end of Carson, so I had a particular fondness for late night, but it couldn't outweigh my disgust at the hosts tongue-bathing of a Jen O'Sidal regime. Bill Maher in particular went far right on this one. Glad to see Jon has a moral compass.

@@udisteinberg I think you're missing the point, Netanyahu is not doing this because he cares about Israel, he does it because it puts the corruption trial on hold for him. The IDF continues to reach out further and further to risk regional conflict and instability with the US in their back pocket in hopes that they will bail them out (probably will since no career politician will go against the IDF, regardless of their warcrimes).
Maybe i'm mis-reading your comment, but one day Netanyahu will be gone (either by trial or just time) and the real question is when is it enough? Is hamas over there? maybe it's here? I have nothing by sympathy for the wide and devastating history of anti semitism jewish people have experienced, but I also can't agree that any criticism of Israel is anti-semitic. I don't think pagers should just be exploding in the market where anyone (like an innocent kid) could get hit. It wouldn't be okay here, and it shouldn't be okay there. I don't think innocent kids should be blown up in Gaza. I think Israel could do better than terrorists at preventing collateral damage, and it feels like they're not trying hard enough. Is that anti-semitic? Why?

no, that's not anti-semitic... however, jumping from that to something like asserting that Israel's goal here is clearly and unquestionably genocide, as many people do, is where we start moving from legitimate criticism into painting an exaggeratedly evil caricature, which may well be motivated by antisemitism (that people may often not be consciously aware of or intending, just like with racism, sexism, etc).
I dunno, I think it's fair that an American president should clarify that they *don't* want a wider war in the Middle East. It's not a given.

Mr. Stewart, you failed to close with the answer to your opening ?; the escalation is about the Gaza style invasion of the ‘West Bank and Gaza expulsion to an end that is referred to as the - total expulsion of the Palestinian people.
The goal of the war in Gaza is to free the hostages and the goal in Lebanon is to drive Hezbollah north so they stop attacking Israeli citizens and that more than 50,000 Israeli war refugees could come back to their homes. And the war could stop if Hamas releases the hostages and Hezbollah stops firing rockets.

The pager debacle is a horror, it is like there is no low for Israel, I feel shame being a Jew and learning how they did this, when a little girl died bringing a pager to her father.
I have a nagging suspicion the victims were "Hezbollah fighters" in the exact same way that the 40,000 murdered womoen and children in Gaza were "Hamas terrorists".
Which is to say, they were _declared_ to be that, after the fact, by Bibi's Israel, with no base in reality.
People trying to justified it is also a bunch of demon. Imagine seeing that much bodies of a bunch of childs and try to point finger on who did it first. Like why would you care about that? One thing for sure that it is not those childs fault. Like come on, where are your heart? Be human.
Literally nobody owned and carried those pagers unless they were card carrying Hezbollah terrorists. It wasn’t connected to any civilian telecom network, and the sole reason they do need pagers is because they’re paranoid that they will be tracked.
