This was the final show before the band’s hiatus. Appropriately, given the pending extended break from touring, the pre-show music closed with The Rolling Stones’ The Last Time and the post-show music was The Beatles’ Let it Be. After the show, the crowd gave the crew a standing ovation as they packed the band’s gear, while the crew took pictures of the crowd. Trey teased San-Ho-Zay in Twist.

We drove down from Arcata. I was in graduate school at HSU then. I had a girlfriend named Cloud. Life was super simple. Good friends, good drugs, SFO was waaaay different…. Tech had bombed….
The Gin is otherworldly. The way Trey locks in with the rest of the band throughout the intense development part of the jam is soooo good. Underrated Gin. It’s in my top 3.
Thanks again for a trip to another part of my life.

I'm sorry, but what happened? I saw them at the Mann this year, worst show I've ever seen... They haven't been the same since the hiatus, it's like the Dead n co of Phish
The sound on this is sick.
The sound quality is all the more impressive for the fact that the picture is from pointing a camera at the in-house video projection. From this it necessarily follows that the audio is also from the same camera (impressive audio pickup on that camera), or another source synced with the video after the fact (impressive editing work).
Mr. Pharchive did an impressive job with syncing the audio, as this is the Live Phish SBD

Having been a big fan of this 'final' show, I cant believe I am watching what happened. For years I have argued this show is a perfect culmination of their career.......had it ended here.

Sound quality on this is so much better than what circulates.
Two guys from my dorm at UMass drove cross country for the show, then on way back the car died in Nebraska. They ended up missing two months of classes getting back.

They went on hiatus right after the show for the first time but this is still one of their best performances.

last show before hiatus .i hit evry show this tour except 1 night i got shut out in the rain in chicago ,ist time going cross country on tour,isttime in cali or the west coast ,red woods ,cops ,traveling with kids i just met ..amazing time. now oakland bay area

Fish is an absolute force on every tune...his hands are so ridiculous with tight blazing rolls in his fills and his grooves are dripping
He's a mind-blowing machine. Big Cypress demonstrated his prowess to me. Mind-blowing skills and stamina.

Totally agree... while on paper, or even upon first glance, it can get overlooked, to me... its up there with some of the best gins ever. Its all about how the song hits YOU when you hear it. This one is just perfect... the entire band shines on the jam, no one person steals the song as it peaks, its all very much a rhythmic, cohesive, team effort here. Some of my favorite playing from Phish 1.0.

I pusst out for this show!! Fuck! I was in Vegas and Phoenix for that epic ‘guy forget’ and probably the best camel walk ever!!! I missed this tweezer! Sick!! Glad I got to see it here though! I think they play so loose and pocket tight when they’re tired!!

I was there! Had to catch a cab (remember those?) to Shoreline from my motel on the strip in Mtn View after watching my Mets beat the Giants in the NLDS and barely made it to the show.
This was such a wonderful way to spend my 23rd birthday. Thanks so much for bringing back the memories

The Gin is great. Mike lead bass grooves FTW. It is a somber show but I totally had a great time.

I met a guy in Mexico this year who had seen the most shows I have ever heard of anyone seeing. 760 something. I was floored. He said the last show he missed was this one. So he wasn't there either.

These were fun shows. Drove from Portland to Arcata to mountain view and back to portland to start a new job on that Monday. I hated, and quit the job, just should have kept going with Phish hahahah!
Funny i lived in Arcata then now I am in Olympia. I bet the drive going down was like heaven but a straight suck fest on the way back since you had to be on time. .
