    When David talked to Max at school, he was actually being nice. He does care about his family and students, but he tends to jump into rash decisions without getting the whole picture so his approach is abit over-the-line sometimes, like accusing Kate of using drugs (Kate's file in David's laptop in the garage, which leads to David harassing Kate in part 1 (or was it part 2?) )
    All in all, i think siding David is a more rational choice, that is when one had connected the dots.

    As much as as an asshole he seems, I feel really bad for David. He's a veteran who suffers from PTSD and just wants to be with Chloe and Joyce. He loves Chloe and just wants to protect her. If he gets kicked out of the house he looks actually depressed, crying even that he can't be with his family. He acts over the top because he's not used to regular life.
    I really like Chloe, probably one of my favourite characters in the game, but she can be immature and irrational sometimes. I feel like that a lot of Chloe aimed decisions will have a bad effect on everyone, including Chloe, if you side with Chloe. The game is basically asking, "How much will you do for your friend? Even if it does make them unhappy for a short time?"
    But hell even then, I feel like that even veterans can keep their cool to a certain point. Considering how David already hit Chloe (If you didn't intervene in episode one) and threatened to hit her in episode three. Another thing that really pissed me off about him is the fact that David told a homeless woman "To get a job". I know that has nothing to do with Chloe, but people who do that really piss me off.
    Personally, I sided with Chloe, although David does have good intentions for his family, I feel like that he's just sort of hurting them in the process. It really annoys me that people give him slack though just for being shown as an antagonist. I don't actually think that David is a bad or evil man, especially when compared to actual antagonists like Nathan Prescott but people like to say he's good just because he's "bad".
    I feel like the line "Is that your Rachel Amber halloween costume?" is even a bit asshole-y. Considering how is he a head security guard makes a joke about a missing girl that he probably should be at least trying to find.

    I was torn on this choice for a while. I initially sided with Chloe because David needed to be called out on his shit, but then I saw that it broke up Joyce and David. I couldn't do that to the family.
    I had to rewind and side with David. Chloe is right too, but she was being a brat about the whole thing. David is trying to do the right thing, but the way he approaches the situation is entirely wrong. He's not 100% an asshole, but he does legitimately care about his family and the students' well being.
    Chloe will be pissed, but she'll get over it.

    I really hated this decision because there's so much to think about for both sides.
    David spies on people that looks creepy but... Isn't that the same thing we do throughout the entire game? We do it for our own motives, abusing a time rewind powee. And so does David.
    But putting aside that, David is really confrontational about everything. Just by looking at this scene alone, the way he talks to Max first... And him saying that "this is now my family" he just seems so possessive.

      I think His Ptsd Was speaking he was a War veteran and He needed Comfort not Telling what he Did was right he Had good intention but was going the wrong way like you could see if I am right when he slapped Chloe he also hesitated but think about it chloe Is a Little immature and Does Things Her way even if it hurts another person. So in my opinion I would side with David I wish there was a Third one Which was just be quiet that would have been more appropriate

    I am surprised with how many people dislike Chloe. Just put yourself in her place for a second: you have the perfect life and family until your dad dies in a car accident, and you get forced to live with a stepfather who does nothing but to boss you around by yelling and spying like if you were a criminal, while your mum, the last support you have is by his side. Chloe acts the way she does because she feels trapped and alone.
    Not to mention that while at the end of the game I did end up understanding and liking David, that does not excuse his behavior at all, threating students, spying them and even his own family, slapping his stepdaughter, insulting and dissrespecting everyone who disagrees with him and threating anyone he suspects from. He might have good intentions, but that doesn't give him the right to cross any limit, morality, control and simply do whatever he wants without anyone's consent. Not to mention the disrespectful way he talks to his own family when they just disagree with him, he just walks into the room and starts to bully his own daughter and her bestie and in front of his wife, do you find that normal?
    Of course I will always side with Chloe on this one. And I am amazed how many people excuse David's behaviour and actions because he was trying to do the right thing while Chloe gets all the hate. There's a huge different people, Chloe is a teenager, of course she is going to act stupid lots of times, David on the other hand is an adult that worked in the military, he should know better than act like this. And Chloe is being a brat? Just because he was told to calm down, David insulted Max, his daughter and his wife, of course that's totally mature.

    • @1993Southparkfan
      @1993Southparkfan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Ikr? In fact in episode 5, he outright stated he can't even excuse his own behaviour. How can you excuse someone's behaviour if they can't even excuse it themselves?

    • @loren5432
      @loren5432 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      BtS fixed Chloe's (toxic) character somehow but it still doesn't excuse her actions in LiS. David is a PTSD solider, so you can't use the "Chloe is the only damaged person" excuse. Neither of them is right, but David is the lesser evil compared with Chloe.
      Chloe doesn't cares about anyone else other than herself. She doesn't even care about her mother, someone who feels responsible for her father's death, and even though she's also destroyed she doesn't show it as much as Chloe does and also tries to move on with her life (unlike Chloe who completely destroyed her own life). But in this scene, Chloe takes that "bit of happiness" from her in a really immature way (she IS justified, but the way she and Max teared into David is worse than just being quiet about it).
      At least David cares about his family. Sure, he might be a paranoid person and rude when accused of something, but he tries his best to keep the people he cares about safe.

    • @mynameisreallycool1
      @mynameisreallycool1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't hate her as a person, and I know she has some good in her, but just like we can't excuse David for his behavior, we shouldn't excuse Chloe's either. That's just unfair. David is impulsive and rude, but Chloe is self centered and entitled. They both had room for improvement in the beginning.
      Chloe is not a child, she's around 19 years old. She's old enough to take responsibility for her own actions. And the way she treats Max (especially in the first 2 or 3 episodes) was really shitty. I'd be mad too if my best friend ignored me for 5 years too, so I'd understand why Chloe would be bitter towards Max, but throwing Max under the bus by blaming her for the weed that she never touched just so she could get out of trouble was incredibly selfish and immature. Then she either gets mad at Max when she truthfully tells David that it isn't her's, or she don't feel bad or say sorry to Max when she does take the blame and is completely oblivious to how it might affect Max in the future.
      Chloe herself even admits in the end of the game that she had been selfish and unfair towards Max.

    @Charizarzar 9 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    I don't know. If you side with David, Max completely lies about not having any proof of the surveillance. And what he was doing WAS creepy, regardless of whether he has PTSD or not.
    I think Chloe is a brat, but something does need to be changed in that family, because David isn't a saint either. And I just think that step fathers shouldn't be as in control of the child as David is trying to be, especially when he's living in Joyce's house and not the other way round.

    • @loren5432
      @loren5432 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Nothing changes, though. You just break the family and leave Joyce to suffer from another loss.
      Also, Chloe was in drugs (and a spoiled brat) and David only wanted to help her (in his messed/weird way).

    • @Charizarzar
      @Charizarzar 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      lorenzo romano It seems that way from the game's perspective, but Max is just an 18 year old kid who exposed the fact that David was spying on her daughter. I know that he wanted to help her, and I really like him by the end of the game, but there's no excuse for doing that, no matter what age she is.
      I know that universe didn't really end up mattering in the end, but when you get to the tornado while the storm is going on, I told Joyce to make up her own mind. And David is still with Joyce at the end of the game if you choose to save the Bay.

    I find Chloe troublesome to deal with. However despite his PTSD and good intentions it was so hard to side with David. Even if you care about people you just can't go around stalking them and trying to control their lives. Plus Max wasn't necessarily wrong when she said David doesn't respect anyone else, he sort of just does his own thing without anyone one's consent because he thinks he always everything and what's best for others.

    David has files of some students, installed spy camera's in his wife's home, has hit his step daughter and has harassed some students.
    If Max chooses to take the photo of David and Kate in ep 1,she has solid evidence he does bully some students.
    What I am trying to say is, how can he possible look like the good guy, atleast in Joyces eyes?
    What really ticks me off is that: David doesn't try to defend or excuse his actions, Joyce just blindly believes Max about the files and the conflict has nothing to do with Max. The three are supposed to figure it out.

    As much as I appreciate that David was trying to get to the Bottom of Everything happening in Arcadia Bay, he was being too careless and uncaring of who he hurt in the process. He cares about Joyce and Chloe just has a hard time showing it. He treats everyone like a criminal even if they have done nothing wrong, like bullying Kate Marsh when she was going through hell and having thoughts of suicide because someone drugged her and did things to her. No one helped her except for Max and that's what led to her suicide attempt. another example is him hiding surveillance cameras all around Joyce's house or petitioning to have surveillance cameras put everywhere all over Blackwell Academy. He actually told Nathan to tell someone that Rachel was pushing drugs on campus when she wasn't to get her in trouble so she'd be out of Chloe's life because she thought Rachel was a bad influence on Chloe. That's illegal right there so David is out of control. That's why I side with Chloe in this argument. He was just acting like he was at War the entire time and that everyone was an enemy and a criminal

    I will never side with Chloe on this, she's very immature. She was literally going the junkyard to buy drugs that David warned her was a dangerous location to be around, then on top of that stole a gun. David may get over the top but Chloe on purposely presses his buttons. He wants to believe Chloe is better then that but all she wants to do is piss him off out of rebellious spite.

      To be fair David did fire the first shot... at Max. How is that called for?
      Also he was spying on Rachel, Kate, and Max... and if you side with Chloe and cause Joyce to kick him out of the house... he blames everything on Max as if his spying activities on various people is all Max's fault. How is it all her or Chloe's fault?
      If Max hurt David's family... she would have done it a long time ago.

    I really don't get why people keep calling Chloe a brat. I'll always side with Chloe. I hated that she blamed Max for leaving but I kinda understand how she feels, but that's no reason to be pissed at her.
    I do get David's point, but spying on everyone just isn't the way to go about helping. The reason why Chloe is acting out so much is because Chloe left right her died and she felt like Max didn't love her and had abandoned her even though she really didn't.
    Then she met a beautiful girl, fell in love with her and then Rachel goes missing. Then Chloe finds out that she's dead. How would y'all react? She's been through a lot. Chloe feels like she's unloved when in fact, she's very loved. Her Mom loves her, her Dad loved her & so does David. And her best friend Max is in love with her.
    What Chloe goes through is something that nobody should ever have to go through. She looses her Dad, her best friend who she later develops romantic feelings for (Depending on the choices that you make, even though Chloe probably had feelings for Max even before Max had moved away, that's probably why Chloe had dared Max to kiss her), her Mom remarries a paranoid war veteran (I have nothing against war veterans, they have been through enough horrible shit as it is), she meets a beautiful girl, Rachel, and falls for her & then later finds out that was sleeping with a man & then later finds out that Rachel is dead.
    Chloe has a right to be angry, but she shouldn't take her pain out on everyone else either, but I understand why she acts the way she does because of what she's been through.
    I said this before and I'll say, what would y'all do in her place?

    I love how so many people will go on with hate on David for spying while we as a player at this point has been breaking into the school, look into everyones private computers and e-mails and manipulate people with time travel into taking the infos out if them and use it later to make them like us. He was obsessive freak, yes, but he wanted to know what happened to Rachel just like us. Weird and very dangerous things were happening at Blackwell at this point of the time, David knew that. He wanted good, he just made mistakes along the way. Still that doesn't make us much better considering what Max and Chloe actually do. I think that David was aware that somebody dangerous were in Arcadia Bay and it's partly the reason he installed the cameras in all around the house (which he should absolutely not do without Joyce and Chloe knowing but again, he was paranoid about their safety).

Whilst David has good intentions he just goes around and insults everybody, even his own family, when they disagree with him and let's not forget how fucked up the cameras are in his stepdaughter's room is. Plus at the end of the game you see a real change in Chloe so I don't get all this hate to chloe; she's one of my favourite video game characters

    First off, I know David does redeem himself at the end, I forgive him and I don't hate him. Never did hate him. Like Max, I respect his service and I appreciate him saving her and taking down Jeffershit. Plus, I do think he was trying to do what was right by Chloe and Joyce. I am glad for Chloe's sake he survived and I love seeing him now have a loving relationship with Chloe and Max too in LiS 2. I save Chloe for his and Joyce's sakes. Who am I to put those two through that kind of pain of burying their kid? Joyce would rather die than lose her daughter, any loving parent would. In dead Chloe ending he loses both of them b/c Joyce divorces him. At least in Bae he has a mended relationship with Chloe and even Max too. However, back to why I side with Chloe, Davie went about the process the wrong way. Prior to saving Max he crossed so many lines. Hitting Chloe and saying condescending remarks to her, going after Max, picking on Kate instead of helping her, secret surveillance system, mistreating the homeless lady, sexist remarks against women/girls, he even calls Joyce a punk and says "screw you" to her. Chloe has been going through Hell for 5 years and a lot of that Hell is David's meanness towards her and Joyce being too in denial to do anything about his mean and abusive behavior. Between that and how awful he's been to Max it just doesn't make sense to take his side. He's not even that grateful if you do; "This is my man cave, no girls allowed" (note the sexism). Last thing I want to do is hurt Chloe even more by defending her abusive step parent against her. It was time for Joyce to snap out of her denial and put him in his place. He may have PTSD and other issues from being in a war and losing Phil but that is not an excuse for his behavior. I do actually pick the "That's your choice" option when talking to Joyce in Episode 5 because her priorities have to be rebuilding her relationship with her daughter, her flesh and blood, her baby. I'm not saying she couldn't eventually take David back, like I said I do believe David earned forgiveness and redemption, but for now her daughter and her own well being too have to come first.

    The reason i sided with david is the way he interrogate kate make me more suspicious of what is going on in blackwell. It's simple video about kate was drunk and make up with boys, but the way he interrogate to kate is showing that david is more suspicious about vortex club than kate's scandal video, and i think vortex club is something like hideous criminal group but covered with popular reputation.
    And then after seeing binders and wells' computer, i was thinking that david is probably have guessed about nathan but he didnt have much evidences, cos evidence is sure way to get criminal into jail. So i sided with david, in case when chloe is in danger, david is the one saving her.
    But i never thought he is saving max and chloe is still killed and it was disappointing.
    About chloe, well i understand about intruding privacy and human rights all that, but that's just immature when is dealing to the adult, especially if the adult is know so much about being security guard, law, and especially soldier. While chloe is have reputation of rebel, mischievollus, and police records, i hardly side with chloe if she wants to get treated fairly. No matter how her dark past is, she is just fight losing battle.

    David strikes me as a guy who is still having trouble adjusting to civilian life after seeing who knows what overseas. Yes his methods are unorthodox and even invasive to some, but he does it with the best of intentions. It's not like he's going around extorting people and selling their secrets to the highest bidder.

    dang, you guys are really into this, whatevs, though both people have major flaws to them, david, while he cares about his family, makes stupid choices and can be a major dickhead to anybody if they disagree with him in the slightest sense, while some of you guys in the comments are siding with him cuz he cares about family, i know someone like david irl and those kind of people can be the biggest assholes you have ever met (speaking from personal experience), and chloe, can be a douche herself too, doing illegal stuff, but don't forget that she's like that mainly because her dad died, and we all saw how close she was to her dad when *spoiler alert* max goes back in time to save william, and that can change people, i knew another person who was also like that and she was a handful, there's also the fact that max is bestfriends with chloe and hates david, but then again, max is a pretty moral person, so it isn't really surprising like some of you guys think of how most people chose to side with chloe, but i guess it just comes down to our own personal way of thinking, be a moral person who does all good even for those who hurt you, or be don't be a person all about morals and do good things only for those that you care about, your call

    I first sided with Chloe, because obviously David did breach people's privacy by keeping distinct records, and surveillance on them. However, after reading through the comments here, as well as this article here guides.gamepressure.com/lifeisstrange/guide.asp?ID=30782, and adding up all of Chloe's reasoning, and David's reasoning, I decided to opt with David.
    The reason being, that even though Max seems to lie for Joyce & David's sake about the surveillance, and David did hit Chloe depending on the decision you make, and David did indeed bully Kate, he did not have creepy or bad intentions with them. His army days left him overly paranoid, and he still treats daily life as a military service. He needs help readjusting into daily life, and understanding the world is not as bad as a war-zone. It's the intentions behind his reasoning that made me side with him, knowing it wasn't creepy or wrong, just misguided.
    Chloe does seem to get quite hurt by this decision, especially if you contradict most of her decisions, but if you help her most of the time, then even if she brings it up in Chapter 3 & 4 at times, it will be a minor slope down the track. Chloe is an emotional teenager, with random outbursts and her mindset is still a bit childish. It means that Chloe and Max will more likely not begin a dating relationship together, but will remain very close friends, especially if you sacrifice the bay over Chloe. It also depends on how the player feels about each situation, whether they like Warren more as a partner for Max, or how they want legacy of the bay to unfold, etc...

    It’s understandable that David’s behavior is caused largely by his PTSD, but no one should EVER use that as a reason to justify abuse. There IS no justifying abuse. It is inherently wrong, always. If anyone is in an abusive relationship of any kind (parent, spouse, etc.) please try to persuade them to seek help from a professional. Show your support for them, but please know what the limits are and get out of there if things are not improving! If they constantly refuse to seek professional help, then it’s simply too late for them anyway, or they’ll help themselves too late to undo the damage they had done to you! It’s sad, but true. Abusers are especially dangerous because they can escalate into other behaviors, even if the abuse started small. I’m talking about rape (of spouse or kids), potentially lethal levels of abuse, etc. All it takes is one beer bottle thrown at just the right angle and you’re looking at the corpse of your six- year-old daughter in the living room from being hit in the temple. Just ONE second, and it’s too late to change your mind about staying with that abusive a**hole, because you’ve lost everything that mattered to you anyway. This is what happened to a friend of mine. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. This stuff can get serious fast, and it doesn’t even need to be “serious” to still end badly. Please seek help when you need it. I’m sorry I went off on a rant there, but some of the comments to this video are disturbing in that a lot of people seem to agree that the best course of action is to ENABLE the abuser simply because he has PTSD. Please don’t do that…
