If you side with David you actually get quite important hints. That's like getting a reward for making a reasonable choice instead of following the whims of your imprudent childhood friend.
I sided with David. As I went along in the story and learned he was in the military it all made sense. Being in the military changes a mindset, but I never found him creepy or weird. He had the challenge of trying to fit in a new family and a step daughter who opposed him. That's always a rough situation.
When i did play the game I had Max side with David after realizing he might not be the bad guy and Max starting to realize she might of made a mistake by getting him fired as i felt the point of david was his actions and behavior was justified as he had to deal with Chloe out of control behavior and everything going on in the school plus giving the fact he was in the army made him see things no one should as the military can turn you into something far worse much like John in the karate kid or Quinn mom in final space

Although I understand why he acted that way, it’s not right therefore a lot of people still hate him for that. I at first didn't like him during his first appearance but after I read up about him, I decided it was time to cut him some slack and his appearance in Life is Strange 2 showed that he kept to his word to change. I hope that he gets his own instalment as a protagonist, like a prequel to the first game.

The choices have an impact because the characters are 3-dimensional, but they don't really "matter" in the end. Actually, the reason I fell in love with the game is BECAUSE choices don't matter which feels insane to say. The game explores a lot impossible decisions and nothing ever going perfect no matter what you decide to do. The ending is an epitome to this theme and I kind of love it. If you want to see a game where choices *do* actually matter, all the way through, I recommend Detroit Become Human. You practically have control over anything from all the characters dying to the entire population being wiped out. I love both of these games but for very different reasons and DBH is the winner from a technical standpoint when it comes to variety of impact.

Joyce had a beautiful family but it was destroyed after William's death and at the end of the first Life is Strange both endings are sad for Joyce. If you sacrifice Chloe Joyce will lose her only daughter and later divorce from David. If you sacrifice Arcadia Bay David and Chloe will live and finally make peace but Joyce will never see this since she died in the Arcadia Bay storm......JOYCE DESERVED BETTER.

Actually, i know that david is good person, but his method is too extreme and gone far, it s like he is war-minded in mere high school and step daughter rage and drama. He is just soldier but he is not a father type. Usually when a father is veteran soldier with deep value of honor and discipline, their children sometimes end up hard rebelling type than strict straight-A type. Especially if the mother is soft loving sweet type. Because children felt pressure to live by their dad's high expectation to them, since their father already achieved god level, and if the children cant achieve the same god level than their father, or only achieved lower level, the children will become rebel and mischief rather than proud and straight serious A type.

Regardless of what David was trying to achieve, I still side with Chloe David acts like a bully towards absolutely everyone. He treats everyone except for Nathan Prescott like war criminals. Spying on people in your own home with a surveillance system that they don't even know about, trying to fill every part of the school with surveillance, interrogating a poor girl that's going through hell, he seriously needs help. Plus I don't like how he treats Chloe.

The great thing about this game is that it shows there's no naturally bad people, we all have our own fucked up issues that create certain flaws.
