Just went to the garage, turned on the helmet headset, turned off the Bluetooth on my phone and connected it, and boom, Car Play! After weeks of hit and miss frustration, your solution works, thank you!

That was probably the best video I've seen yet on connecting android auto or carplay. Thank you.

The connection when you start the bike, has been a big issue for many owning the 6 gen Wing. Your video is very helpful. Honda must come up with a quick pocket guide on how to. Moreover, every dealer has to go over these steps when handing a key to a new owner.

I messed up my connections, but I knew I had to connect the phone last. Thanks for the detailed and easy instructions.

My biggest takeaway from this is to turn the BT off on your phone and don't connect it until the last step. Thank you for your great tutorial.

Great. What if it's a Bagger. Where is the USB lead? Secondly, Assuming one is Using a USB C lead, will an adapter work?

The USB socket on the Bagger is in the front storage compartment (where the airbag would be on the Tour model). And yes, you can use an adapter to fit a USB-C lead.

The only thing I would add to your wonderful video, something that has helped me using my iPhone 14... make sure the phone is unlocked when you plug it in (last). While I selected "allow CarPlay even when phone is locked" that works when the phone connection has already been established but you still need to have the iPhone unlocked right when you plug it in. I've had no issues since I began doing that. Your video did help me with regard to two issues.. I had a Bluetooth connection between the phone and the bike and I also was using a non-apple USB cord.

Quality output. Just got a Cardo Edge and heard they had issues with connection. I'm sure the bluetooth menu was a key link in having problems. Thanks much.

Your instructions on how to connect the bike and Carplay worked well for a short time and then it wouldn't.
I'm guessing it could be upgrades to software on either phone or Cardo Edge headphones.
The headphones appeared as “connected” on the Honda menu but gave no sound.
What I (and others) have found is powering off the Cardo’s and restarting (second start up) them works fine.
I picked this up from one of the forums.

Dear Ian, I followed the instructions one by one and at the end a rainbow image appeared on the screen. I use Sena 5S and Ihone SE. Please help me, what have I messed up?

If there is not a strong connection then you can get a pixelated image on the screen that looks like splashes of colour which may be the rainbow. If that's the case then either the lead is faulty or there is dirt/dust in the phone socket. I saw this with another customers phone a few months ago and that was the cause. Seeing as the iPhone SE was released about eight years ago then it may be the latter as there will likely be some dust that's built up in there over time.Try cleaning that out or replacing the lead, if neither of those work then drop me a line at ian.gladman@doble.co.uk and we'll work it out. Thanks.

I followed your helpful tips, but still have problems on my 2022. When I connect the USB cable it triggers the Bluetooth to be turned on on my telephone (Samsung A23) and connects it to "Honda_Goldwing". I have tried to disconnect the cable, turn the BT off and kill the "Honda Goldwing" connection on the phone, but when I then connect the USB it will turn on the BT again. I even tried with a new phone (factory reset) and only installed Google and Android Auto, same result (it created and connected to "Honda_Goldwing"). Sometimes you can ride for more than an hour before the connection with AA is broken and start to reconnect and interrupt, but usually it happens within 5-10 minutes of riding. It seems to me that the main problem is that the USB cable triggers the BT to be turned on (contrary to what it is supposed to do...). Any ideas? Could a solution be to install a Carlink or similar device or will the problem still remain?

The process for Android is exactly the same as iPhone. The 2018 and 2019 models did not leave the factory with Android Auto functionality (only Carplay) but they can be updated by a Honda dealer to allow for this.
