Truth. This is probably not for Logic Mac users who rely on a heap of VSTs and external sounds. It’s for mobile creators who want just a little more.

Brilliant step in the right direction.
    What it needs
    - clip gain (on the clips, not in a menu)
    - CROSSFADES (not fades from the menu)
    - fade tools on clips
By far the biggest requirement. for the next update outwith crossfades is the ability to increase clip/region waveform on audio tracks. (Not increase the gain but increase the visualisation of the waveform) so we can see what we’ve recorded. Zooming the tracks to full screen at the moment isn’t the solution

    • @ErrkaPetti
      @ErrkaPetti ปีที่แล้ว

Not a big issue that iPad Logic just has the Clip Gain in the Inspector - Logic on Mac had Clip Gain direct on regions in version 10.75, so, Logic users was pretty happy for 25 years without Clip Gain direct on region…
But the lacks of GUI when applying Fades on Logic for iPad is a bad decision…
But, hey, it’s just version 1.0 still, so, more is coming the next coming month…

    • @robertdurhammusic
      @robertdurhammusic ปีที่แล้ว

@@ErrkaPetti they were happy without clip gain on clips for 25 years because they never had it or knew of it ever being possible. Also it’s a clip gain “tool” again more menus to navigate to activate it when protools, Cubase, ableton etc have the volume handle on the clip. Why all the menus?? 🤦‍♂️ People need to stop accepting what they didn’t have before and were fine versus what should be implemented with its capabilities & competition especially as it’s also based on a subscription model and not a perpetual licence. As a touch screen device it’s more intuitive to be able to grab handles on regions such as clip gain or fades. Having to open the inspector I feel is a temporary system as it takes you out the workflow when other daws on the iPad implement it seamlessly. I feel an issue with both logic and Final Cut is they were both programmed alongside each other as both ui look very similar. Both share something similar in that their region clips can’t be muted, altered, turned off etc. this could just be a place holder for updates to come and right now as it’s free. Everyone’s pretty much trying a beta. The features I say are missing are simple ones to add and are more user friendly for the iPad. Tbh I think they’re missing as the new logic desktop version will probably be announced at wwdc and a lot of the features will be shown in that and then activated on the iPad once announced. 🤞

Here's the solution to the tape delay seemingly cutting out the horns (at 4:31). Take a close look at the dry control: 0!!! Just turn it up and you're all set. There's a convenience function in Logic, which mutes the dry signal for some effects to make them work "correctly" on buses. This seems to kick in, although leading to an unintended result.

The first really valuable video on LoPro for iPad I came across. For a version 1.0 the app is completely insane though there are still features that I miss hardly (especially MIDI learn) and the UX is not perfect. $5 per month is in this case a no brainer. You can subscribe monthly and (so far as I know) still have read only access to the projects if you are not subscribed anymore.

When Logic fort iPad was being pushed as a desktop replacement I was disappointed. When I realized that it was not a replacement, but a starter things felt much better. When I realized that Logic on iPad was giving me what I wanted from my Akai MPC Live II and Roland MC-707, I put them up for sale and bought a 12.9" 1TB M2 iPad. Now the big question for me, how easy will it be to move projects from iPad to my desktop. If that works well Logic may take over as my primary DAW.

I just picked up an iPad Air 11" with the M2 and 8GB ram(only 128gb storage because I'm still kinda cheap), and so far it's been super cool. On my desktop PC I've used EZ-Drummer and EZ-Keys for a while in Reaper and FL Studio, and I already like the AI players in Logic Pro better. If I start to run into resource issues, I'll figure it out at that time, but so far so good.
Edit: Also, Re: the subscription model, I'm not normally a fan, but I have a habit of working on my music REALLY hard for, like... a few months, and then getting distracted by work, other hobbies, etc. for a few months before getting back to it. In these times, I can just cancel/pause the subscription and start back up when I'm ready to work again.

Awesome video. Thanks. I've not had much time to dabble with it too much so far but it's pretty great. I have a shoulder sling bag that fits the OP-1 Field, and sometimes I just want bit more of a complex sequence / piano roll view. My iPad mini runs Logic really well from what I've seen so far and fits in the bag. The UI works on the tiny screen too. Oh with your default record clip length for new projects... a lot of long time desktop Logic users start from a template project. Can you make a new project and adjust to your liking, then from the browser duplicate that project each time to start a new one? That's a work around I thought of as you said it.

Thanks for the video. What I would guess is that Logic Pro for iPad will someday become an universal app so will run and adapt to macOS and that Apple will not charge more than the $4.99 they currently charge for the iPadOS version.
Hence as it’s going to be a no-brainer deal, the transition to the subscription model for the Mac version will happen more smoothly.
Of course they will probably keep bringing minor updates to the Mac version of Logic for sometime but the new features will come with the subscription based universal binary version of Logic Pro.

Pro-tip: Use sample crate to browse your samples. It's a few bucks, but it lets you preview and batch move samples so much easier. As an aside: I wish warping in quick sampler was more like Koala. Having it automatically determine length for you is frustrating. Unfortunately, Koala has been a lot less stable since the last update, so it's not too great to use as a plugin.

@@BeauTylerMakesMusic I found out recently that you can use a modifier in the Quick Sampler to vary the flex rate a little bit which is great if a sample is like 1.8 beats and you just need to stretch it to 2. I've resorted to old school techniques like reverse looping the tail end of a chop if it doesn't fit right in most cases. However, a big part of it is just me not being used to advanced time stretch because I now realize that I'm doing things like I would need to on an MPC when in reality it's fast to drag a sample to the timeline, trim the start and end, apply flex, and then the chops are perfect.

Products people pay money for should function. The goal should always be stability and I’m not giving one of the worlds biggest companies a pass, they had 10 years to make this.
And that said I love the app so far, but I’m absolutely never going to excuse bugs

Why you can be sure these are all software issues: cause let’s face it, there are decent daws that do half of what Logic does since like 2013-5 ish (talking as a programmer).
For example, that delay thing you’ve got going is clearly a Bug. No way they “invented” a delay so bad it literally crashes the best mobile processor ever - it has to be glitch.
BTW, maybe you’ve noticed less crashes when using 3rd party AUs? Keep in mind the “plugs” inside logic should technically be literally that, plugs (AUs), so if your other AUs don’t crash as often, you’ve found the culprit (Apple). Would you be surprised? Hahaha let’s be honest.
I get it, everybody loves Logic, but (and I am still watching your video Dylan so NGL you could surprise me!), at the end of the day…. It’s just a DAW. If your old iOS DAW was able to handle it, Logic for iPad SHOULD handle it - and otherwise, it’s cause the devs are lazy.
Anyways, cheers Dude! Glad to see “you’re back” on the iOS grind.
BTW. Did you see the new Akai MPC +? Kinda really scratching an itch rn 😤😂.
And lastly, here’s to hoping Logic Pro gets more than an update per year - otherwise there is NO way I’m keeping it. I already find myself preferring AUM over traditional linear DAWs anyway so going back to the linear workflow to begin with already kinda bothers me (but I do want to try it out, maybe in a few days once I have a break).
    Cheers buddy!

@@DylanParisMusic did watch through it all! I do like it huh. Don’t get met wrong.. it looks juicy, reminds me of my garage band days on iOS 7 (lol) or something like that (but with the pro side that most daws do not “have” (although that’s why I left daws on iOS behind and moved on to AUM which lets me “create my DAW”), and although I do understand your argument about the monthly cost (and find it reasonable), I still would prefer to pay even the 200 hundos you mention instead.
On the other side, what should ACTUALLY be the model to follow for software (IMO naturally), should be one that is similar to Loopy’s:
One where we get to PAY for yearly / monthly / etc upgrades instead (implying you “keep” the “damaged” goods you’ve purchased and are actually paying mostly to have these things be “fixed” but not simply to use them).
Anyway dude, nice video and congrats on the purchase (iPad)!

to me it is so funny people expecting logic pro providing a general au or vst compatibility. Thats def not the job of logic more of apple. Even more it is funny that ipad plugins are supposed to run on M processors.. so Apple is indeed run into a one way itself

The strings and horns load to the system's ram. If you run out of memory you get silence.
It's not a bug, you have to freeze some tracks on devices with less memory.
