Remove Limiting Beliefs In Under Ten Minutes

  • Limiting Beliefs can be removed using Byron Katie's framework (see links below). I know, because I use it on me and with clients. It's a powerful framework.
    Everything I study keeps boiling success down to "Mindset". So 80% is about mindset and the remaining 20% is about mechanics.
    Mechanics these days is easy because we can learn anything using the web.
    The mindset on the other hand is the tricky part.
    Most often the mindset for success comes down to beliefs, successful beliefs and limiting beliefs.
    Limiting beliefs seem the be the biggest issue that hold people down, or out right stop them from moving forward.
    If you think you have a limiting belief holding you back from getting something you want in life (or starting to move towards), I suggest you check to see if it's just a mechanics issue. Often we can just learn a skill and become competent. Doing so, will melt the limiting belief.
    However, if you truly have a limiting belief (No skill helps), I suggest you run it through the 4 questions with the turn around by Byron Katie.
    I printed and laminated "The Work" and keep it close for me and for use with my clients.
    You can get "The Work" at the following link...
    thework.com/en/do-work
    Here is a video of Byron doing the work. If this does not do it for you, follow the trail of videos to the right • Video
    you can book a call with me and I'll take you through the process.

    All the best!

    So true. A person can do all the affirmations under the sun to get ahead in life but unless you believe them, they'll keep you stuck in failure. Thanks.

    THANK YOU, Craig Desorcy for mentioning that: whatever follows the "BECAUSE" in a statement "I cannot achieve [goal] because . . . " is the limiting belief. YES, (or maybe it is an excuse which, if unpacked, you could eventually, actually come to the actual belief). Some limiting beliefs are useful, protective, or even lifesaving, but some choke out all progress in life. You have to have the wisdom to know the difference! Also, BOUNDARIES are important, but you can have boundaries that are not straight lines, but wind around and through situations so that maybe you cannot just reach and grab what you want like an infant, but maybe you can carefully wind around the serpentine labyrinth of boundaries and get acquainted up close and personal with that which attracts you, and yet not stumble over boundaries.Limiting beliefs may have good purposes and may save our lives at times, but we should get acquainted with the contours and reasons for them in order to not be choked to death by unnecessary limitations. Whether it is worthwhile to map all that out is situational and contextual. You have to keep the overall big picture in mind to choose what is worth working on, and what can be adjourned for another time in order to explore that which provides the most "bang for the buck": ROI (return on investment), use cost / benefit analysis! I have subscribed to your video channel, Craig Desorcy, and look forward to learning more of the wisdom and conversations you have initiated! I am also going to check out the bad to better website referenced in this video.

    what arises in me as I watch this video,
    is a very intense memory from yesterday...
    there was a guy, on the train,
    I think he liked me.
    he seemed to be checking me out.
    and holy fuck, was I ever drawn to him.
    in fact I can't stop thinking about him.
    there are so many thoughts and feelings
    that arise in me as a result of yesterday's encounter:
    - grief, grief, grief.
    - I fucked up. I should have talked to him.
    I should have stayed on the train.
    I shouldn't have got off when I did.
    fuck fuck fuck.
    - was he the one? a soul-mate?
    - am I just delusional and fantasizing because I'm so desperate for love?
    - but I know what I saw. he was 100% noticing me.
    - fuck I kill myself over not talking to him.
    - please lord, please please please, lead me back to him...

    After 15 years in IT, in the last few years I have lost my job a couple of times and right now I don't know what I really want to do. I just seem lost with some much information and the tendancy to just keep looking and looking to find the right thing/person/answer who/which will help me. Yes, I hear it is inside of me, but I am not even sure where to start looking for it inside of me.

      I feel for you! It's critical to take any work you can get just for now because if not, it can drive you nuts living in our heads. The answers are in the physical world of work not in the intellectual world. I need this reminder just as much as the next person.
      If you have IT skills, farm yourself out on some of the outsourcing sites like now. Yes, watch the voice say Craig does not know how hard it is, etc. Thank that voice and get into action anyway.

    2. Is it absolutely 💯% true?

    4. What would I be without it?
    Turnaround + Indisputable pieces of evidence

  • @burreifort
    @burreifort 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In the last step: turnarounds
    You mentioned "find genuine examples that are true turnarounds for you". If I had those true genuine turnarounds in me, I wouldn't even bother to start searching for anything truer. Probably you need to rephrase your statement: like "... turnarounds that are positive for you", because our minds will not believe things that we do not have already.
    For some people statements like these might work:" I am active and committed to getting better", or you could rephrase to something like this which for some people might work better because the mind will believe it more: " I am in progress of losing weight, I am in progress of becoming healthier, or I am moving towards a healthier lifestyle"

    • @CraigDesorcy
      @CraigDesorcy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is the difference between limiting beliefs and boundaries?

    • @CraigDesorcy
      @CraigDesorcy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Saying you can't do something without ever trying could be a limiting belief.
      I have a personal boundary (rule) to not respond to negative comments.
      Boundaries are rules we make to protect ourselves.
      A limiting belief tends to be made out of fear and it's often done subcounsiously.

    What I don’t like about Byron Katie’s work in that area is this underlying assumption that it’s actually not true and thus, the questioning person would suddenly experience this dramatic aha-moment because they never thought about the validity of what they beliefe until just now. I mean, why couldn’t it be true? To take your example - maybe I actually AM lazy, alas, someone has to be the laziest person in the world and it just is so that this is me. Then what?

    • @CraigDesorcy
      @CraigDesorcy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I hear you!
      Another way to look at the model is, it can be another way to loosen the grip a limited belief has over oneself.
      thoughts on being lazy.
      We are energy conserving creatures. This may explain why we love anything that has three steps, invented the iphone, etc.
      I'd explore "lazy".
      If you were not lazy, what would you love to do? What wold make your soul sing? Etc., etc., etc.

      Run the belief "I have a low reading ability" through the four questions.

      #2, HOW can you know it is true or not? Unpack that, and examine the assumptions, evidence and arguments. This can be a deep question? Just superficially rubber stamping it YES or NO as true or not, we may miss a lot of valuable inquiry, and perhaps get committed to a truth, a half-truth, or a mistaken conclusion?

    craig what if i have only 1 genuine reason for turnaround statement proof?will that work or is it really necessary to have 3 proofs to remove limiting belief?

      Hi Vineet!
      The more reasons, the more leverage. But there is no solid rule. If you can turn a beleif around with one good reason, that's awesome!!

    • @9274448790
      @9274448790 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      hello craig but if i like want to be millionaire and holding back beliefs..then there is no reasons to leverage becuase only one good reason is i am living in a house that's costing a million...that' all.so for turning belief around money what to do then?

    • @CraigDesorcy
      @CraigDesorcy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, first you have to get to your beliefs around money to find which ones are holding you back.
      Finish the following statements in your journal.
      Money is.....
      People with money are .....
      To get more money you have to...
      What do want?
      What's holding you back, slowing you down or getting in the way of you getting it?
      It may not be a belief that's holding you back. Maybe it's your environment.

    Thank you for this vid. for me...ti's not that i have a limited belief about getting my children's books published... it's about where do I get the $3,000 the publisher wants to do the whole package? I don't what some digital Kindle book on Amazon. I want a hard covered, edited, illustrated and on the shelves book! I don't want to settle for less. They want the money up front. Now i could go to my bank and take out a personal loan and have 3 years to pay it all back. Really don't want that hanging over my head or want to pay the interest on it. So ...i can't come up with anything else except to hope to win the lottery or hope someone puts me in theri will. Can you help me with this? I've had the books on my computer for 10 years now and the prices just keep going up.

      @CraigDesorcy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Based on my experience, it's not about the money. Ten years is a long time which triggers the thought "it's not a money issue".
      Most often than not, we create safe problems to avoid something deeper. A safe problem could be "don't have the money, don't want to start on Kindle, etc."
      What else could be standing in the way, slowing you down or outright stopping you from moving forward in this area? Something to think about.

      Your mind will make it up. Play with it. It's very weird how it works. It's also worth reading the book, or watch her on TH-cam

    Method has limitations. What if, at the turnaround, the person does not have any examples to show that "I am not a lazy person" ? Then the person will be stuck at that step of The Work?

    • @CraigDesorcy
      @CraigDesorcy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had a few people say this. My answer is always the same. For sure you have no examples, most don't off the top of their head. That's not only normal, it's expected. (Let them feel all that agreement)
      And let me ask you, if you did know, where would you start?
      All the best to you and yours Philip.

    Whenever i talk to someone, in between i start getting a strong feeling of insecurity, nervousness etc. Even if there's nothing like that. And also my mind limits me to laugh openly. I get nervous while laughing with others. This is kind of weird feeling. I've tried sleeping affirmations, manifestation also. But they make a very little difference to me. After feeling better, my mind tends to come back to its previous state. Tell me what to do? I'm totally helpless. I might commint suicide if this keeps happening. Help!!!!

      Hey brother, don't bring these worst thoughts of committing suicide in your mind, honestly saying I had similar issues earlier and want to share what I do, I suddenly start feeling good and I am emphasizing on "feeling good" and what it does is, it really changes my emotions and I start feeling whole and it feels that there is no lack of anything also and now referring to what you mentioned as you are able to fix your mindset for a period of time but then again your mind comes back to where it was earlier... Brother, you need to be patient while you are doing it because you suddenly can't eliminate those thought patterns in your mind, that make you feel negative, so have patience. I tried it and thought of getting rid of it quickly and I know what happened, it became worse you can also refer to this www.falltorises.com/how-to-control-your-mind/ for more info and mechanism how your mind works.. thanks I hope it helps and, do visit the article.

    What if you can't think of three examples because you genuinely are lazy?

    • @CraigDesorcy
      @CraigDesorcy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Then own being lazy. Enjoy it. Of being lazy is bothering you, then you have fuel for change.
      But first ask, what if I could think of three examples, what would they be?

    Beliefs are just concretized assumptions; mostly BS but necessary for survival.
