    Great shootout!
The SA-87mk3 is a fantastic microphone!
I would put it up against any vintage U87. Clear and detailed with a solid low end, smooth highs without hype and a slight mid bump. Cap it off with the transformer and the sound is that classic U87 sound.
I’ve never been a fan of the 47 FET. There’s a dullness to the sound that’s never impressed me. It’s not just Stam, I don’t care for the original Neumann either. Not that it’s a “bad” sounding microphone. The Stam sounds very much like the U47 FET. If that’s what makes you happy, go for it. I don’t mind it as a kick drum microphone but that’s about it.

Hi Midnight, thank you! Much appreciated. I haven’t had the chance to hear a vintage 87 raw, but I hear very similar views regarding the SA-87MK3 to the real 87.
Agreed on the 47FET. I bought it solely for review and cosmetics. It is a unique and good looking mic. I’ve also herd 47FET sounds good on instruments so I will be testing that soon.
      Thanks for the insight MidnightMiik.

Hi Daniel, I really like your videos, I watch all of them, I was just wondering from this proximity would it be good to use a pop filter? To me it sounds slightly overwhelmed at the peaks... otherwise great
    , I have the 87mkiii also, It's so good.

Hi Jonathan, thank you for your viewership! Much appreciated. So what you’re watching in the video is not how it was recorded. The video provides the visual feedback only. If you visit my FB or Stam Audio Users, you’ll see the picture when the mics were recorded. The gists of it is both mics are recorded at the same time. I record from about 5-8 inches away. NO Pop Filter to keep the sound of the mic as pure as possible even it is very subtle. I do all this to push the mics as much as possible to also test their breaking points. Yes! I’m also like the SA-87mkIII.
