My mom has a Surface Pro 4, and she got a fairly common issue where the screen starts to ghost and act bizarre, rendering the device unusable. Went to the Microsoft store and they replaced it the same day, no questions asked. I couldn't recreate the issue (classic) and I offered them to show them a vid and they said "no need". The tablet was well out of warranty. Almost 2 years later, my cousin's Surface Pro 4 did the same thing and again it was replaced no questions asked. Another example that comes to mind is EVGA and their 10 series graphics cards. The voltage regulators would overheat and blow up due to flawed cooling. Not only did EVGA fix the faulty cards for free and extend the warranty, they updated the cooler and added a ton of temp sensors throughout the card so the user could check temps. I 110% stand behind and respect this and I wish more companies did this
I do not own, have ever owned, or most likely will not ever own an apple product. I just subscribed, commented, liked and watched the video to express my support.
Interesting , when I worked at Dell they were proud that they knew every part in every laptop and could call customers to get the recalls done proactively. Not sure how it works now with retail sales but for businesses it was really great.

Maje me think if Sony that refused warranty for a water-damaged phone. The big oops? The sales video for the phone showed it being used under the water in a pool. Why, just why, would the customers then think it was waterproof? 🤔
I've supported this movement since before it started. Worked as a automotive mechanic for several years and truefully some cases are just like this, they refuse that an issue exists, take for example, Cadillac CTS have a engine computer, this controls your engine, it has known issues where you have a misfire on your engine while idling, or driving, this is due to them using micro electrical pins on a engine control computer that is the size of a folded dollar bill. To this day they refuse to acknowledge the issue exists. Basically says you are driving it wrong and not doing maintenance. But those are all lies cause the issue is the fuel injector pin on the engine computer that becomes loose. I have tried to repair them but because of the size of the computer and the way it is designed, there is no way to repair it so you end up having to replace it with another one worh the same problems that might last less than two years. Total cost with programming is bearing $2000.00, all because of a design with then using electrical pins that are to small, and also the wiring harness is hanging by the connector on the computer which strains the electrical pins. Known issue and the gm will not help with repairs
Take the number of laptops in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.
I Love how Apple is demanding facebook to turn over documents to Apple as they already did with Steam but heaven forbid repair shops get documents from Apple.
Kinda shows who is in charge of the shit show...Facebook is rather useless without a Mac or PC to run it on (or the corresponding iOS/Android device) OR the software techs that design the OS to make the Facebook/Twitter usable on whatever platform. What does the pyramid look like from the top down? Machine/platform designers and makers ---->>> OS designers --->>> software and app developers --->>> retailers and repair shop that sell and maintain the stuff --->>> us (the consumer/end user). That is how Apple can demand documents from Facebook (app developer) but a repair shop can't get tech spec for repairs from Apple. It all depends on how high up the food chain you are.

I'm one of the suckers that bought a 2017 Apple MacBook Pro 13", thinking it would last me a good 6+ years for my usage case. First the trackpad stopped providing haptic feedback, checked the support program only to find the 2017 model apparently isn't affected by this issue 🤔 Then the fan started spinning flat out in certain light load situations and the laptop would get very hot. Check again, apparently not an issue 🙄 Then last year I opened my MacBook and noticed the stagelight effect across the bottom of the screen. I googled the issue to find it's common on the 2016 and 2017 MBPs, and see there is an Apple Service Program for this issue. Thinking I might finally get some resolution for one of the many design flaws of this device I followed the link to the Apple website only to find that it's only 2016 manufactured MacBook Pro 13s that are covered by this program. 🤦♂️ This will be the last Apple product I ever buy. Watching your videos and reading the Apple "support" forums has shown me this is not an isolated incident, but the norm as to how their customers are treated and Apples stance towards product faults.

This exact display problem just happened to my barely used M1 (Max) 16" iPad Pro, fully spec'ed $6000 (Canadian) laptop purchased in December 2021. This laptop is handled with extreme care, it sits on my desk, has never been taken outside ... yet the screen suddenly began going completely black and when I open the lid about 2 inches I can see that the backlight was working, but when I open the lid fully, the screen goes black again. When I open and close the lid a few times, if I was lucky enough to get it temporarily working, there is a huge vertical stripe down the screen. When I phoned Apple twice about this issue, they made NO MENTION that this is a well known "extraordinarily fragile" flex display cable issue!! My laptop is still under its first year warranty, plus I have Apple Care. I've wiped the hard drive in preparation for sending it back, hope to either be given a brand new replacement (only if this display cable has now been fully revamped since the launch of the M1 16" MacBooks) ... or if not, then a full refund.

the 2016 and 1017 models are not the only ones with flexgate
I have the 2019 model (a2159). And after a year and a half he had this problem.
Right to repair for all!
"I don't hate you for what you use, I just hate you" - the repairman's inner monologue
That and the very close, "how TF did you do that!?"
Is more like "I don't hate you, I hate the decision you have made'
What Louis has taught me over the years is that Apple products are engineered badly resulting in poor reliably while also being engineered heavily against repairibility.
@@adf8382038 I don't agree with the poor engineering, but as a long time Apple user I can agree that they do have hardware defects, probably about as commonly as other computer manufacturers products do. I like Apple because I like their OS and their software, but I don't like their pricing, and I really don't like their pricing considering that most of their products are essentially trashcan fillers when they break down. Of course I'm a cheap bastard. I bought my iPhone second hand for $200 Canadian (roughly $140 US), and the last Mac I bought with my own money was a refurbished, very low spec Mac Mini that a I bought off their website for $400 (roughly $280 US). To me it makes no sense to spend huge money on throwaway devices. My computer prior to that was a 2007 iMac, that I bought in a disposal sale for $50 ($35 U.S.).
it's not engineered badly, it's engineered to be bad. if they make their products break quickly and easily, their brainwashed fanboys will buy stuff from them more often
Thank you so much for all that you do to bring attention to this type of stuff. People as consumers deserve to understand the types of corners they cut and the straight up bullying they use to bury dissidents’ complaints. You’re a damn fine guy.
People are starting to wake up to how anti-consumer Apple is, thanks for your efforts Louis.
Anti consumer, greedy and very very wasteful....
It's not just Apple.
@@jeremiahd2417 STOP trying to divert attention away from Apples nefarious behaviour!
@@eastlondonhustler I was stating the obvious. I was putting the blame as a whole. Big Tech has been doing what Apple has done for years, hence why enforced regulation with minimal work-arounds are needed.
@@jeremiahd2417 If it's that obvious, you shouldn't need to state it.
1. All other big tech companies are not as bad as Apple
2. There is NO other big tech company as profitable as Apple
How much is Apple paying you to make your comments on here ?
I’ve never thought you were the enemy. I appreciate and respect you. I’ve told the tale elsewhere, but I sent a seemingly dead MacBook Pro to your shop (in the mail from several states away), and when it arrived, your shop found a working computer, did some testing and then only charged me postage to get it back. You had the perfect opportunity for value added enhancement for that bill. EASY GRIFT. But nope. I respect that greatly. Thanks for having ethics and integrity.
thanks for brining these issues to the light
... and the back-light!
The Ron jeremy comment had me on the floor 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
4:55 loving the commitment!
And again at 7:55 LOLs!
Louis, it's sad, but these corporations factor in lawsuits like this as a cost of business.
No, they don't. The badwill from a court case is huge. They are willing to lie and bluff and dodge but they do *not* want to lose a court case. It's just too much ammunition in future debates.
@@perwestermark8920 you’re right. But they’ll likely try to get it settled without a ruling. They have more than enough cash to do so.
@@perwestermark8920 they're gonna get fined for less than 10% of their profits, I'm sure.
@@Mernom It isn't the fines that are expensive. The fines are just something on top of the badwill costs and the need to start repair or repay for past repair of computers Apple previously claimed wasn't covered by warranty and factory defects repair. And every lost court case will move a number of users to other brands by seeing a legal resolution saying "Apple did b*******k you".
@@zyrohnmng Yes, most companies in this situation will do their best to pay themselves out of the court case. It's just too much badwill to allow people to point at a court ruling showing them as dirt bags.
Thanks Louis - Much appreciate your work in bringing this to light.
This is why I'm happy you're leading the charge on right to repair...
Its insane how many people come in to my shop saying that Apple told them the charging port is broken when all it is is lint in the port and we clean it for free
I have a 2017 model of the 13" touch bar MacBook Pro. Glad to know that I have this defect. It's no longer my primary laptop anymore, but if they do issue a recall, I'll be sure to get it fixed.
Still going strong?
Louis, this is the reason I've watched your channel for years. You always present your case in a logical fashion, and without bias. You explain WHY the problems are there, so no one can point at you saying you don't know what you're talking about.

The real question is why is Louis the ONLY TH-camr consistently reporting Apple's numerous lawsuits and shady practices?
Well done and you are doing a great job. Keep up the fight to expose these corporate bullying, manipulation and in many cases sabotage and outright theft.
Please continue and the many that do not have the voice or know how appreciate and support you.
This is the exact reason I stop buying/using Iphones and my macbooks. Also, Louis and his team did a fantastic job fixing my macbook 2 years ago.
If I didn't build my own systems, I'd hope to hell I had someone like you to fix them when I needed it. Kudos for standing up for the consumer in a world where everything seems to be designed to be obsolete LONG before it ought to be.
Keep fighting the good fight.
I 110% stand behind and respect this and I wish more companies did this
Right to repair now
Right to repair FOREVER
I do not own, have ever owned, or most likely will not ever own an apple product. I just subscribed, commented, liked and watched the video to express my support.
That's a great example of being owned by your own greed. This type of greed never pays.
The problem is it does pay. Almost every time. Apple users will accept anything apple throws at them. Anything at all, and they know it.
AAA Gaming Industry has entered the chat
Interesting , when I worked at Dell they were proud that they knew every part in every laptop and could call customers to get the recalls done proactively. Not sure how it works now with retail sales but for businesses it was really great.
I wonder if there will be a class action lawsuit about the defective screens on the ipad pro 2017 (10.5 and 12.9) and ipad air 3. I made an AASP to give me my money back after giving me two replacements. The first one was a new ipad and the second was a refurb. I threatened to sue them when they gave me a refurb (which is illegal in my country) and I asked for my money back. which I got.
I am an Apple fan, and I appreciate all that you do for us Mr. Rossmann. I hope you can get the right to repair passed, not just for us Apple folks, but for the Tesla people and any other manufacturers that tell us what we can and cannot do with what we own.
Keep up the good work, you are doing something positive for everyone, whether they think so or not.
They cockblock users that have older macs by not allowing new MacOS be installed, so the iTunes required in order to offload pictures from the newest iPhone iOS14.
The older Mac works perfectly fine but is now classified as ANCIENT and try to force user to buy a NEW Mac.

I died laughing!!! I had to replay that bit several times.
It was great. Lol. 😆
My friends husband passed away. She asked me if I could factory reset his iPad so she could pass it on to her daughter. It was iCloud locked. When I contacted Apple for help they told me that my friend would have to get a court order to prove 1. That her husband had died and 2. That she was sold beneficiary of his possessions? Needless to say the said iPad is now only fit for landfill as it's locked. Because of the way they've treated her I will never be an owner of any Apple products.
Interesting observation came out on the Lew Later podcast: Apple privated a couple of new ads promoting the durability of iPhones (drop and water resistance). The lawyers probably smelt another case incoming!
Maje me think if Sony that refused warranty for a water-damaged phone. The big oops? The sales video for the phone showed it being used under the water in a pool. Why, just why, would the customers then think it was waterproof? 🤔
I love your emotion. I live in MN but went to school in NYC and worked there and I missed this kind of feeling.
Keep fighting the good fight!
THEY SUCK!
~ this why i dont buy apple fixing them is nightmare god bless your rossman
Who the hell is giving this video a thumbs down?? He is 100% correct.
Apple losing money is fine, but companies are never fined enough to incentivize changing their ways.
Yet!?! Dumb dumb dummm?
It's the same with the Automotive industry too.
Keep going Louis. You are wearing their PR machine down. It IS working.
Don't worry I'm sure they fixed this issue in their latest macbooks. However now they solder on an SSD with a high swapping feature, SSD will crap out before anything else does. Hello
I had kind of the same problem(flex gate or how it is called) on older macbook 2007(plastic) and i still have the problem on osx, at services were i went they told me it is dead that wire that connects to display, it was in 2018, but since then i installed windows without bootcamp, i managed ti get windows 10 on it and have no problems, i guess that it is more something like a programmed obsolescence. If i install again the now unsupported OSX the display goes dimm again... it is very strange...
my 2007 mac still works just fine on windows 10
I'm one of the suckers that bought a 2017 Apple MacBook Pro 13", thinking it would last me a good 6+ years for my usage case.
First the trackpad stopped providing haptic feedback, checked the support program only to find the 2017 model apparently isn't affected by this issue 🤔
Then the fan started spinning flat out in certain light load situations and the laptop would get very hot. Check again, apparently not an issue 🙄
Then last year I opened my MacBook and noticed the stagelight effect across the bottom of the screen. 🤦♂️
This will be the last Apple product I ever buy. Watching your videos and reading the Apple "support" forums has shown me this is not an isolated incident, but the norm as to how their customers are treated and Apples stance towards product faults.
I have a shit-ton of Apple products and probably will continue to use them....but I HATE the crap that Apples gets away with....thank you Louis for your continued efforts...I hope your efforts will help to open more people’s eyes

@@tortenschiebermitsenf9282 I hate to break it to you, but Apple is a multi-trillion dollar company. I've been to an apple store, there where lint in the port, they cleaned and told me what it was and that I can do it next time if needed, and they were not saying that to make me leave the shop as fast as possible, but to be friendly.
I know I shouldn't be surprised, but this makes me sad.
Also I've heard some people say that Apple is now charging $700+ for displays on the a1707.
The fact alone that they are fighting against this is enough
and they want to build cars . so when it quits in the middle of the road they will blame the user ?. will they warranty the battery for 7 years.so when it loses 50% capacity in a few years they will claim that it's fine and the user drives too fast.
That is how scum works.
That project has been delayed, cancelled, revived so many time I can't even count.
Obviously we have the same favorite moviestar Louis! 😂😂😂

when developing or engineering a new car, the good manufacturers will place an entire door assembly (or something similar) in a jig and simulate the 'opening and closing' of that door 40x/day for 10 years (or 146,000 openings and closings).
