It's a beautiful car. Someone parked a black one outside of my house and it looked so nice I went on my computer to find a review. I think it is elegant and tasteful.
rented one of these to go on a road trip to Texas from California and was the best experience super comfortable and with two kids in the back they were happy and also comfortable and great view for them. deffinatly want to buy to own.
I am renting one for my June '18 vacation. I am sure those seats will feel good when I leave South Florida and drive to Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and back to Florida. I will give my driving experience since I'll be spending 9 days in it. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Ok, I rented a sweet silver XTS over black interior and LOVED IT!! I am NOT a GM guy and looked for ways to fault this car. I left Sough Florida and spent just about 12 hours driving the first day to reach Pensacola. I never got tired or fatigued. The heated and cooled seats were joyous. It was easy to get comfy even being a 270lb guy at 5'11" and very wide shoulders. Seats were just right and not too hard or soft. The 3.6 engine seemed just right for the car and anything bigger would be a waste in my opinion. Freeway cruising was under 2000 RPM and fuel economy highest average was 35.7 MPG. This was in rental car trim so it wasn't "loaded" but it was nicely equipped and seemed just fine. Remote start, gorgeous exterior lighting, illuminated door handles, and nice interior ambient lighting made this quite attractive inside or out. A/C was excellent and the audio system was easy to master and even has a WiFi hotspot. While in Tennessee I drove it on The Tail Of The Dragon (xtremesportsphotography.photoreflect.com/store/orderpage.aspx?pi=0QAK031Y012280&po=1644&pc=1916) ***Captures at 2:00pm, 2:02PM, **2:05**pn*** and and it was easy and predictable to push around without terrifying me. This was a rental car and not mine so I restrained myself and got it to handle firmly and howl the tires on some corners (Sshhh) I put 2700 miles on it in 2 weeks and never grew tired of it. It is a GORGEOUS car with the sharp lines and stubby nose. I'd buy one. My only gripes? The inductive charger is behind the HVAC panel that opens and closes but would constantly do just that as my radar detector cord shook back and forth and contacted the touch sensor. Also, the piano black HVAC and stereo screen are attractive but can become a fingerprint showcase pretty quick and the reflection can be quite jarring but a microfiber towel makes short work of that. I would probably buy one because their value drops like a rock. I think the '18 was damn near executed and designed perfectly but that's my taste.
Thank you for the wonderful review!! I'm so sick of car reviewers reviewing a Cadillac and all you hear is talk about a German car I thought they were reviewing a Cadillac not an S Class or Audi or a BMW
I used to buy European Cars Until 2009 my car was BMW 750 Li (2008) This car had lots electronic issues Dynamic stability fault. ABS module Overheating, transmission failed safe. Parking brake actuator malfunction. Valtronic fault. Alternator bracket seal oil leak. Power steering pump failure. The car was three weeks at the dealership getting fixed . Paid lots money to get it fixed. After tow months same problem again. I got rid of the car. Sold the car for very less price. My wife had a Mercedes Benz S 500 (2005) this car had front wheel bearing problem every 6 months need retorq them Very unsafe car. From 2008 I moved to Cadillac STS 💞 for My wife 🌹Cadillac SRX for my self 💞 the best car made by (GM) we are very happy with our Cadillacs STS 💞 Cadillac SRX 💞 Thanks for posting your review on new Cadillac XTS 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
I don’t get how a 2017 XTS feels like an Impala.. does the Impala have magna ride suspension? I don’t think so. I drive a 2014 XTS and it smoothes out the road .
This car looks amazing, but the biggest downside has to be that black glossy material around the infotainment system. I mean just by the footage you can see that it holds on to every bit of dust and fingerprints that comes into contact with it.
Rented one early Sept. in Florida, beautiful car with a lot of nice features. Only problems we had was that the radio stopped working for about 15 minutes. Then came on by itself and work fine after that. Then I could not get the intermittent wipers to work, after they had worked fine before. Maybe it was just that car, but does this car have electrical problems? I don't know, but aside from those two problems, great car. JN
I heard that the AWD shifts much better, has no wheel spin but is a tiny bit slower on 0-60 with 1MPG less. I am torn on which one to buy? Any thoughts?
Normally I dislike all GM vehicles but I am renting one today in Philadelphia because I want to show off with my family at a wedding. It should be cool.I am looking forward to this weekend with the XTS. See ya in Philly.
I still find it odd that they continue to sell the XTS with the CT6. Other than the XTS starting out at a lower price point, I don't see how Cadillac justifies it.
Keith Dehmann I agree - it’s in a weird space because the CT6 is the one that is intended to compete with the BMW 7-Series and the Mercedes S-Class. The CT6 is much cheaper than the 7-series and S-class anyway. So I’m not sure what exactly the point of the XTS is.
There is a whole list of slight differences between the XTS and CT6 besides the major difference of one coming in FWD/AWD options and the other coming in RWD/AWD options (and the XTS has 6 cylinders while the CT6 has 4). I agree that on the surface it seems odd that they would offer 2 different model full size sedans but there are markets for both. The CT6 seems to be targeted more towards the person who wants a luxury vehicle while the XTS, with its larger truck volume, is targeted more towards luxury professional drivers (think car service, Uber, Lyft). In NYC the XTS seems to be the most popular car of choice for luxury car service and Uber/Lyft drivers. I use my XTS for both personal and FHV driving. It fits the need perfectly especially at airports which is common for car service drivers. The XTS also comes in an unlisted Livery trim model. You'd have to go to a commercial dealer to find that trim and in NYC a lot of GM dealers also sell commercial. This is probably why the XTS exists but you really only see TV commercials for the CT6 when Cadillac is advertising a full size sedan. Commercial use is an unspoken sweet spot for Cadillac. Straight from the manufacturer Cadillac sells stretch limos, livery trims of their vehicles, hearses, and they even manufacture the vehicle that transports the President of the United States.
The Test Drive In one word "MONEY". It's established (people know/like the car), cheaper to make (shared platform), it creates showroom traffic and it sales.
I know this is old but how the hell did the 2018 not feel like the Impala when the 2017 did? The interior was still the exact same. The XTS received a front and rear fascia update for the most part only with a few other minor perks.
VERY NICE Car!!! On some of those corners, u wasn't worried about "black ice"??!! MAN I was gritting my teeth on the headshot camera view bending those corners....Where's the bloopers reel? Lol
I have a question regarding the sideview mirrors for this particular year / model. Is there a feature that automatically folds / unfolds them when entering and exiting the vehicle..?
Any difference in ride/handling on the base model 2027 vs 2018 ? The 2017 had magnetic control suspension across the whole line. 2018 only has the mag suspension on the upper trim levels - premium and above
This 2018 had a smoother ride than the 2017 I tested last year. The 2017 XTS felt like an Impala Premier even with mag ride control. This one felt more refined and I didn't miss the mag ride control at all.
Saying cadillac is american is like saying french fries are french. Given the chance, GM will trade dollars for Yuans and pledge allegiance to the people's republic of china in a heartbeat!
*Cadillac should have made their basic safety system the Driver Awareness Package STANDARD on any XTS. To charge this much for a luxury vehicle and then ask me for another $1600 for safety features standard on a Genesis is outrageous. All that leather and wood won't help you like those safety features can, and it says a lot about how Cadillac feels towards their customers to charge them for features that may save their lives yet are standard on other cars. No thanks.* 🖕😠👎
Sam Pak Cadillac suspension is some of the best on the market. What are you smoking? Lexus has absolutely nothing on the driving dynamics of a Cadillac. Lexus is boring and has outdated tech. Also newer Cadillacs aren’t that bad on keeping value compared to a lot of the competition. It’s just as reliable and looks more exciting than the ES.
Front wheel drive .. that’s a no for me .. Cadillac should know better over 300 hp front wheel drive torque steer is going to be a problem . So with that being said I’ll pass.
No one is tracking and drifting a full sized Cadillac sedan. It’s a FWD large luxury sedan with massive head hip and leg room with an extremely comfortable driving position.
Drove this from Miami to Orlando and I felt like I was sitting on a cloud the entire time. Love it so much I had to buy one
It's a beautiful car. Someone parked a black one outside of my house and it looked so nice I went on my computer to find a review. I think it is elegant and tasteful.
LOL that’s awesome - glad you ended up here! It’s a great car and priced very well.
Just had this as a rental car. It's pretty good. i'm thinking about buying one now.
Never thought I'd say this but is a Cadillac my favorite car?
rented one of these to go on a road trip to Texas from California and was the best experience super comfortable and with two kids in the back they were happy and also comfortable and great view for them. deffinatly want to buy to own.
Why didn't you get an SUV or crossover?
I am renting one for my June '18 vacation. How was it?
bruh we need the update

@@_BAD_MERC_ thanks for the update, like you I'm not a GM guy. But after renting one, I realized I don't have to go to the German brands for comfort
I was wary of the front styling in the beginning but it is certainly growing on me!
It seems like the new look always takes some getting used to. But I think it definitely looks more modern!
I love the waterfall front lights. At night they look like fangs. Very sexy.
Thank you for the wonderful review!! I'm so sick of car reviewers reviewing a Cadillac and all you hear is talk about a German car I thought they were reviewing a Cadillac not an S Class or Audi or a BMW
I'm renting one right now for a long trip I'm on. It's a very good car for trips.
Same here for this weekend 😎

Nice and clear review, very informative, thank you
I had a 2013 and was a great car but the so called new interior is exactly the same as it was in 13 except for a fresher looking screen
Hey 1K ! Congratz bro !!
Authentic Max thanks man!

Can't deny that... I have to clean my car almost every couple of days... :/
What's Álvaro Morata doing here?

Joe Nicks It was probably the car. I own a 2018 Cadillac XTS, and never had any problems. It still drives perfectly with no problems.

TechyMark -- very good points, I didn't consider who each vehicle would be targeted for.
The Test Drive In one word "MONEY". It's established (people know/like the car), cheaper to make (shared platform), it creates showroom traffic and it sales.
Very simple, because it sells well. This is the top selling sedan for Caddy. Why mess with what works?
I know this is old but how the hell did the 2018 not feel like the Impala when the 2017 did? The interior was still the exact same. The XTS received a front and rear fascia update for the most part only with a few other minor perks.
