I agree with most of this review. I've owned 2 Lexus RX300's and can tell you that the Volvo is a better driving car and MUCH better gas mileage. In the sport mode it's like a rocket ship. The electronics are quite quirky and not very intuitive at all. There are features hidden in layers of menus that after 2 weeks of owning an S60 I still haven't found everything. I'm supposed to have lane departure of lane keeping assist, but only today learned how to access it. I'll find out tomorrow what I have. Cabin noise is a bit louder than what I'm used to (previously in Infiniti FX35). I also own a Mazda CX-9 and had a 2010 CX-7. I think the Mazda is a little quicker, but also only gets 20mpg while the Volvo gets 23mpg with suburban driving. Electronic ergonomics aside, I LOVE the interior of my S60 (Inscription). It feels bigger than a BMW3 and with the extra leg and shoulder room is. It feels bigger than an Audi A4 too. It's considerably less expensive than a comparable Lexus ES or GS 350. Mercedes are more expensive still and you don't even get leather... but you do get higher repair bills. Also, my body shop tells me that Mercedes uses cheap metal that rusts quickly. The S60 isn't the sleekest, most stylish care around, but overall it's really quite nice. Not as inspiring as a similarly priced Alfa Romeo Giulia, but Volvo has a track record of reliability while the new Alfas don't have a current track record at all.
Thank you for your comment! The outdated infotainment system is one of the weakest points of the S60 - Volvo's new touchscreen infotainment seems to be a lot more intuitive. I'm okay with cabin isolation, but I wish laminated side windows were available for the US models... I've had the S60 for almost 3 years now, and the car has been extremely reliable. My lease is up in February, and I'm considering buying it and keeping for a while.
I think the new s60 is the more stylish and sleek car in its class! The older one, OK, but I don't find the German cars that stylish either. They're very evolutionary. Good for now outdating the previous series.
Volvo S60 Is safer than Audi A4,Bmw 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C Class,but for pleasure of drive the best Is 3 Series,my choice Is S60,because it's the most safe and has very sporty understated look, Volvo's are more individuals than the three german luxury brands for antonomasia,VOLVO'S BEST
EUROCARGUY I’ve had multiple problems from the sound shutting off and having to restart the car completely to wind noise sounding like a whistle to alignment balding both front tires and the car is only 11 months old and has been to service more than 5 times already. Dealership is in the process of buying it back right now though.
All Volvo parts are made all over Europe including Eastern Europe. They are still made in Sweden and their are assmbely plants in North Carolina and in other parts of Europe. Anyway since china has been helping Volvo very much better then Ford ever did. Ford stole and ripped Volvo off and they were going to destroy. China really did the best for Volvo and they are still a European car, and one of the best. The best intrest is in making Volvo a great car and not draining Volvo for everything like Ford did. Volvo invevted safety and every car compeny should thank them for that incliding having the 3 point seat belt.
@@matthewesposito5177 Agree. It's really Geely though who happens to be in China. Geely has been an excellent parent company and now Volvo can really develop its teams in Swedish to make their cars better and better.

With the diesel I get 50 mpg highway
Definitely better than the 3 series. F30 interior full of cheap plastics, even the electric seat adjusters feel cheap.
Proof that this older platform is still better than newer platforms. It's a rock solid chassis that will surprises you. Don't sleep on the S/V60

This car + bilstein shocks proves a huge improvement over oem shocks, it handles similar to a bmw
How is the ride comfort though? I'm considering doing some upgrades to the suspension
@@EUROCARGUY the ride is still stiff but it handles quite well for cornering and absorbs bumps way better

This generation S60 was made in Sweden, Belgium, Malaysia and China (long wheel base only). This particular car was made in Belgium.
