      Hi, Gigi!
      I am so glad you liked this cobbler. If you like pie crust, then this recipe is definitely the one to make because, like you said, the dumplings in the filling add even more dough.

    Great idea. Nice job! Yes, its challenging for a variety of reasons (I dont have to tell you!) Like the pan shape and size, frozen tart cherries- love them w oatmeal- they are hard to find and expensive but better than canned, love the almond extract "Cooks" is also expensive but remarkably better than any other... and I'd use 1- 1 &1/2 tsp & a Tbsp of lemon juice (always in a cherry pie)- helps w flavor... I cheat and use a bit of red food coloring for a prettier jewel color and sprinkle w sugar at the end to help browning and crunch. Great recipe challenge! I'll opt for not using br sugar here although I am a huge fan... and depend on the almond extract, sugar and lemon juice for flavoring these gorgeous tart cherries- love the dumpling idea. No one makes cherry cobbler (or cherry pie) and if done right you just cant beat it.

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind words about my recipe. I agree that fresh or frozen cherries are a lot better than canned. I think a bit of red food coloring in the filling would be a good idea. I agree that brown sugar with cherries is kind of controversial, but I like it, personally. The dumplings add a nice variety of textures, too.
      And I agree--a cherry cobbler or pie done right is irresistible. If you make my recipe, let me know what you think. Thanks again for watching and commenting! 🍒🥧👨‍🍳

    Can u use vanilla extract

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi!
      Yes, you can! I would use 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. However, almond really does help to bring out cherry flavor, so I would recommend that--but like I said, it definitely won't be bad with the vanilla.
      Let me know how it turns out!👨‍🍳

    Tart or sour cheeries have a lot of juice on their own. Adding all that water was not necessary and just made cherry soup. I would Not add more than a third of a cup of water and that is even a lot. Up to you.

    Sorry but a cobbler doesn’t have a bottom crust. A pie has a bottom crust. That’s the difference between a pie and a cobbler. Please don’t call a pie a cobbler. Just because it’s not in a pie dish you’re calling it a cobbler . It’s not. Yours is still a pie not a cobbler. Just so you know because apparently you don’t know the difference between the 2

    • @deenaarms5910
      @deenaarms5910 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can make your cobbler the way you want to and that’s just fine. But I grew up with a bottom and a top crust on a cobbler. My grandmother did her mother dead and I’m 70 years old. So there’s nothing wrong with it. It is still a cobbler , because of the filling texture is totally different than a pie filling texture.

    • @rhondareese1607
      @rhondareese1607 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deenaarms5910 then it’s not a cobbler with a crust on the bottom it’s a pie. Typically cobblers don’t have a bottom crust. Google it !
