Tip: it's not necessary to soak the sponge into the bowl. The bowl is good for mixing in foundation, but it's not needed soak the sponge in as well. An alternative is to simply mix the foundation/sunscreen/what ever product in the bowl, pour it into the cartridge, put in the sponge, then close the cushion. Place the cushion pact upside down so that the product can soak into the sponge.
I know it's a late comment but can a cushion be saved if I don't use it much and it's starting to dry out?? How do I prevent it I always check that mines is closed tightly but it sorta looks like it's starting to dry out.
I’ve wanted to try cushions for a while, but as a dark-skinned black girl, I was convinced I’d never be able to. I was so happy to find out you could make your own!! Yaaaay!!! Thanks Morgan, you’re a lifesaver!😊
The sunscreen one is GENIUS! I'm going to do that right now, at 1:30 am. Yep! That's my life. Another "hack" is that you can often use refills from one brand with compacts from another (not every refill fits every compact, there are lists that can be googled of what fits what though). This helps to cut down on garbage because you need fewer compacts, and it also saves money. I have an Etude House LE compact that I really love that I refill with other brands all the time.
I don't know if this is a hack or me being extremely frugal. But after using the cushion, flipping it ten million times and it's finally reached its end, I would actually take the sponge itself and just use that instead of an air puff. It gives maybe just a few extra kicks to the sponge.
Akira Rosenthal you can reuse the empty cushion containers. just take out the cushion add the moisturizer and your favorite foundation and mix and put the cushion pad back in and flip over...
Renee Werner Renee Werner It's actually best to clean the sponge before making a new cushion with your favourite foundation. It helps preferably to start afresh, so no bacteria nor colour contamination. Because it's foundation, not only moisturiser but also anything else like SPF, illuminating base or colour corrector can be mixed with foundation.
I definitely do have a couple of cushions that I am not willing to throw out because of the packaging so I'll definitely try some of these hacks especially the sunblock and foundation !
I loved this soo much. Since i love the concept of cushions but every cushion i buy has been way too light thanks to your ideas i can just empty those out and pop my foundations in my colour and custom my own cushion. You look super pretty in this video too. x
the cutting part is so innovative!! I always struggle with finding the right cushion foundation color for my skin cuz the shade range of many Korean cushion foundations is so limited... thanks for the helpful video and you are so pretty!
Omg, this is such a great idea! Easy to apply and aesthetically pleasing way to use moisturizers and spf! Maybe, if I don't find a cushion foundation I like, I could put my own foundation in an empty one and make my own cushion foundation!
this is also great for black/mixed race people! asian companies never come out with shades dark enough for them. getting a dark foundation and making your own like this can be very useful!
Wow..what a great lot of ideas!! Just goes to show how very little product we really get in pre made cushion compacts when you remove the sponge or make your own!
wow the part about cutting the cushions to adjust the color blew my mind! i was wondering what to do with a cushion that is too dark for me and there is actually a solution! it reminds me of girls cutting up pot eyeshadows to share with their friend but never thought of that for cushions. like the part of the sunscreen and moisturizer as well since i hate getting my hands dirty. love this video and would love to see more!
Thanks Morgan! I literally just finished a cushion today and decided to clean but keep my empty cushion holder thinking I could put it to use somehow. I'm definitely going to try to see if my ear buds fit in it - I've been looking for a compact case for those things anyway. Great tips and they came at the perfect time for me!
Loved these hacks/tips for cushions! Esp. the whole mixing colors or creating your own shade with BB creams and such. I tend to have trouble with Korean products where they never match my skin color tone esp. in the summer when I get darker. Look forward to seeing more videos like this one!
ALWAYS keep a close eye on any DIY cushions (foundation, sunscreen, moisturiser, blush, highlighter, whatever), because they're FAR more vulnerable to mould and bacterial contamination than store-bought cushion formulations. The store-bought formulas contain preservatives, designed to combat the bacteria and mould a cushion product is unavoidably exposed to every time you use it. But our DIY formulas don't have those preservatives in them, so personally, I tend to empty out and thoroughly sanitise the case with at least 70% ethanol (which is what we use in the lab to kill bacteria, mould, etc. on surfaces and can be bought from most pharmacies/drugstores) and replace the cushion and puff with brand new ones before adding new products. Washing the cushion for reuse just isn't thorough enough.
Chronically Fabulous she didn't make anything. she just put the products in cushions and into compacts- she used factory made products that have preservatives.
cait grace I'm super late. But since she mixed products (each with their own preservative) and introduced bacteria by mixing and touching products with unsanitized utensils and fingers, there's a high chance that the types and amounts of preservative in the resulting mix aren't effective together or need extra preservatives; you could be cutting preservation time in half. Jars need more preservatives than squeeze bottles because you are introducing bacteria, mold, and fungi with every scoop. Cushions need more preservatives than pump foundations.
I came across this vid somewhere and honestly, I can't stop looking at you. You're so beautiful ❤️ and I found your video helpful! You just got a new subbie 😊
Thank you! I know a lot of people probably already know some of these tips, but I find them super helpful. I am new to cushion foundations, so these are all great. Thank you so much for sharing!
Katrina Lizon I clean it the same way I clean my beauty blender, with either a bar of soap or the solid cleanser thingy, it's actually surprisingly easy to clean
I came here quite a while ago, before I could wear makeup but I'm back now with my first ever foundation: a cushion! It's not Korean but I plan to get there. Thanks and once my cushion is empty I hope to try these ❤️❤️
Fantastique! I thought the same ideas but wasn't sure to put my thoughts into action. Now I feel confident except I'm concerned about bacteria, viruses and fungi growing in there cos of the sponge not being clean enough. Thank you!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
MORGAAAAAN I just came back from Korea and binge watching your channel was soooo worth it!! I'm loving all your recommendations that I bought and I just wanna say thank you so much for the big big help!!!
Yesenia Garcia Cushions are notoriously known for their lack of shade range the ones that I have seen that go darkest are the loreal lumi cushion and the innisfree cushions. Otherwise you might fair better creating one of the DIY ones.
I didn't even think about using it for moisturizer thoughout the day. I am about to go on accutane and I am sure my skin will dry out really badly. I would be the one to bedazzle my cushion with rhinestones lol
Cushions, cushions, cushions. 💕 Loved these hacks, definitely going to try them out. Thanks Morgan! 😊 Btw, absolutely love your eye makeup in this vid. 👀
The sunscreen cushion looks like such a good idea! I wonder if it gives enough protection from the sun though, because cushions give such a sheer coverage
I don't get it. How would you apply moisturizer over makeup without it ruining the makeup? Same with the sunscreen... Either way, interesting video. Might try some of the other tips.
kodomojanai you'd only use enough to put a small layer over your face. and with the sponge, since you're patting instead of rubbing, it doesn't smear the makeup or anything.
Hi. Greetings from Malaysia. This video is so good. Thank you for the lessons and tips on cushions. I'm going to flip over the cushion sponge to maximise the usage.
I just got my missha cushion today and i love it, it matches my skin perfectly this is only my second cushion and the color is perfect it takes some people forever to find the perfect shade i found mine 2 cushions later ahhhhh
That was a nice video))) I like to flip my cushion sponge every week and I give it couple spray of mineral water or aloe vera spray just to refresh )))
interesting! i bought a sunblock cushion from etude house and one from the face shop... but nice to see i can repurpose that way... refills are so expensive!!
Great great ideas! Amazing! Especially about sunscreen! I'm going to try this! Where do you get the air puffs to appy? Didn't see your link to this. The ones you're using at 3.38? thanks so much!
Looooove cushions! I can't understand how I managed before I bought my first XD. Though I like regular foundation too but when I'm at work it's sooo convenient
Just found your channel. I really like your videos! This helped me so much since I have skin that doesn't work well with most foundations and I plan on making my own cushion compact. Thanks for all the tips and tricks!
Morgan! I love your videos! curious to know more about your recommendations for sunscreen. I'd love to hear about cheaper sunscreens found in drugstores and about high end sunscreens and which ones you like most. Thanks!
I LOVE this! I had no idea that spare sponges were available for purchase. Thanks for the great ideas. I'm traveling to Spain for Christmas and was looking for a way to repackage some more liquid products so that they won't leak. I think this is going to work :)
Hey Morgan, do you have a hack for a cushion foundation that's a little bit too dark? Is there a way to lighten it with products that you already have?
Tip: it's not necessary to soak the sponge into the bowl. The bowl is good for mixing in foundation, but it's not needed soak the sponge in as well. yas
tikanishewolf or simply just mix it in the catridge
ahh that works too....it's just that when mixing liquids, esp foundation, mixing in that tiny cartridge can be a bit tricky
I know it's a late comment but can a cushion be saved if I don't use it much and it's starting to dry out?? How do I prevent it I always check that mines is closed tightly but it sorta looks like it's starting to dry out.

I was internally screaming when she was cutting those LANEIGE cushions...😱
your skin is so flawless!! So jelly!

I loved this soo much. Since i love the concept of cushions but every cushion i buy has been way too light thanks to your ideas i can just empty those out and pop my foundations in my colour and custom my own cushion. You look super pretty in this video too. x

that moisturizer is literally jelly, SO COOL i'm not sure how well it will work but Korea baited me in..props to them
NOT catfishing it's really nice and great for people with oily or big pores as it doesn't block them or make your skin overly greasy
Call me Your Dai5y what brand is that? I am really tempted to try it out
Omg, this is such a great idea! Easy to apply and aesthetically pleasing way to use moisturizers and spf! Maybe, if I don't find a cushion foundation I like, I could put my own foundation in an empty one and make my own cushion foundation!
Wait a moisturizer ?! That's so smart. I added my tinted sunscreen but def need some extra moisture.
this is also great for black/mixed race people! asian companies never come out with shades dark enough for them. getting a dark foundation and making your own like this can be very useful!
I can't get over your beauty and glowing skin, seriously, you're gorgeous!
I've never tried a cushion foundation, but I suddenly want to.
Wow..what a great lot of ideas!! Just goes to show how very little product we really get in pre made cushion compacts when you remove the sponge or make your own!
Great tips! I've never thought of cutting up the cushions and combining the shades.
wow the part about cutting the cushions to adjust the color blew my mind! i was wondering what to do with a cushion that is too dark for me and there is actually a solution! it reminds me of girls cutting up pot eyeshadows to share with their friend but never thought of that for cushions. like the part of the sunscreen and moisturizer as well since i hate getting my hands dirty. love this video and would love to see more!
your skin is flawless.. 😍😍
she's the first person who don't use 3min of the video to talk about things nobody cares about. I subscribed.
Omg this was such a revelation 🙄 the idea of being able to easily carry the perfect personalized foundation is giving me life
I've never thought of a moisturiser cushion, that'll totally help save the day! Thanks Morgan 💕

Chronically Fabulous also, she clearly used new puffs. every time. so.

i learnt this the hard way lol. The next week i wanted to use it, it was already a mould farm. disgusting.
@@syafiqah6680 did you only add foundation into a new cushion? cos I was thinking of doing that but your comment scared me 😂
I came across this vid somewhere and honestly, I can't stop looking at you. You're so beautiful ❤️ and I found your video helpful! You just got a new subbie 😊
Thank you! I know a lot of people probably already know some of these tips, but I find them super helpful. I am new to cushion foundations, so these are all great. Thank you so much for sharing!
OMG!!! I never knew that you can do that!!!! And also they sell spare clean sponges!!!!???? That's amazing!!! Thank you soo much for the tip!!!!!!!!
would like to know how ppl clean the applicator
Katrina Lizon I clean it the same way I clean my beauty blender, with either a bar of soap or the solid cleanser thingy, it's actually surprisingly easy to clean
oooh thank you!!
I came here quite a while ago, before I could wear makeup but I'm back now with my first ever foundation: a cushion! It's not Korean but I plan to get there. Thanks and once my cushion is empty I hope to try these ❤️❤️
i love the editing of this video and the intro! it feels chill and professional but with your lovely cheerfulness & enthusiasm
Just today I flipped my cushion foundation. I am still new at using cushion foundations so this was helpful.
Fantastique! I thought the same ideas but wasn't sure to put my thoughts into action. Now I feel confident except I'm concerned about bacteria, viruses and fungi growing in there cos of the sponge not being clean enough.
Thank you!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Love the idea of making a cushion sunscreen.
love all these ideas. idk how i didnt think of using the holders to hold other stuff
This was great! Especially for the limited edition compacts where you really love the compact but the foundation is lousy!
MORGAAAAAN I just came back from Korea and binge watching your channel was soooo worth it!! I'm loving all your recommendations that I bought and I just wanna say thank you so much for the big big help!!!
I love this! BB cushions are sometimes difficult to use.
Now I know how to re-use and re-purpose my future YSL cushion. Loved the video¡!
Morgan, your cushion sunscreen hack is genius! 👍🏼😍
i super love the hacks because i have been wondering what to do with my empty cushion containers. 😊😊😊 thank you!
Could you please make a video dedicated to cushion foundations for people with darker skin (as in, not white lol)? :)
Yesenia Garcia Cushions are notoriously known for their lack of shade range the ones that I have seen that go darkest are the loreal lumi cushion and the innisfree cushions. Otherwise you might fair better creating one of the DIY ones.
Yay! Cushion addict here. 😁 Love watching your videos, morgan! Its my birthday today. A greeting from you will really make my day! ❤️
Happy Birthday! :)

Seriously, I really love those hacks! Such an innovative way to reuse ur cushion casing! 😍😍😍
I didn't even think about using it for moisturizer thoughout the day. I am about to go on accutane and I am sure my skin will dry out really badly. I would be the one to bedazzle my cushion with rhinestones lol
waaa its open my mind to not to throw away my old cushion case when i dont used it anymore.. thank u much ^^
This is sooooo simple and at the same time absolutely genius. Thank you!
This is awesome. I wonder if one can make a blush cushion. I am definitely going to try.
Thanks for this. I was wondering what you were going to do with the cute Disney cushions that you didn't like. Now I know. Great ideas.
Omg your skin is flawless
A big WOW to the portable sunscreen 😱😱

cushion foundations can look so cute!
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!!! Sharing your amazing hacks on my Pinterest beauty page now. Thx beautiful Morgan. Love you name btw xoxo
are there any advantages to using a cushion foundation over a regular foundation aside from the better portability?
Mikey it's really buildable and can look rly natural, and you don't need any tools besides what it comes with.
They are perfect for those of us that want lighter coverage.
That was a nice video))) I like to flip my cushion sponge every week and I give it couple spray of mineral water or aloe vera spray just to refresh )))
Do a tutorial on this look is gorgeous!!!
Finally! A hacks video that is actually useful! ^_^ Thanks Morgan!
Thanks for all these hacks. You encourage me to make my own cushion foundation now. :)
Morgan when you made the diy cushion there was a VOL foundation sitting on the table but it wasn't used I was just wondering
I have no need for your vlogs, but I watch them anyway 'cause I find you very entertaining... and pretty too. :)
Loved this video! Honestly making your own bb cushion is my favorite, I love using bb cushion but most of the shades doesn't suit me!!! LIKED!
interesting! i bought a sunblock cushion from etude house and one from the face shop... but nice to see i can repurpose that way... refills are so expensive!!
Can you do a video on what to look for in a non-cushion foundation that you want to put in a cushion case and make into a cushion foundation?
another tip is always place ur cushion foundation upside down and gravity will ensure the content will not stay at the bottom.
irishque halim😂😂
Shania Loos think she means when you're running out of product
I loved all the tips and tutorials to make them. Good job!
Ur skin is honestly so amazing
Great great ideas! Amazing! Especially about sunscreen! I'm going to try this! Where do you get the air puffs to appy? Didn't see your link to this. The ones you're using at 3.38? thanks so much!

I LOVE this! I had no idea that spare sponges were available for purchase. Thanks for the great ideas. I'm traveling to Spain for Christmas and was looking for a way to repackage some more liquid products so that they won't leak. I think this is going to work :)
why does she look like she's being held hostage in the thumbnail
Heavenly Athena was this comment made for marina joyce because she looks fine in the thumbnail
Heavenly Athena she has such a weird facial expression
Marina Joyce's case made everyone think about kidnap possibilities lmao
OMG SHE DOES or more like she was made to smile under a gun point. Shes gorgeous nevertheless!
Lee Donghaek lmao yes 😂👏 Shes so stunning honestly lol
Hey Morgan, do you have a hack for a cushion foundation that's a little bit too dark? Is there a way to lighten it with products that you already have?
ninja13 you can always use a lighter foundation to mix in! There are also a ton of white foundation mixers that companies make to lighten foundation
