I know a lot of you guys own your own shade of regular foundation that you probably have at least one favourite of, so I decided to make a tutorial showing how to make your own cushion foundation using products you already own and know work on your skin.
You can simply use an old, used up cushion foundation container (washed, sanitised and dried), a new DIY cushion foundation kit (such as the Missha one which I used), or make your own out of a jar, cut-out sponge and air-tight seal. I recommend the first two as the last can be unhygienic unless very specifically made.
Please remember:
- start with small portions and work up to what you need
- test out your formula before placing into your container
- a standard cushion container only stores up to 15g of product, so only make 15g at a time
- don't pour all the mix in; leave some to soak the other side of your sponge
- only fill up to one-third of the sponge space as it can overflow
- don't mix oil-based products with water-based as it will separate over time. I'd say just avoid oil altogether if you want to be safe.
- I combined my foundation : everything else ratio as around 1.5 : 1 - obviously the higher your foundation ratio to the rest of your mix, the higher the coverage will be, and vice versa.
AND FINALLY,
- Use your absolute favourite products (foundation, highlighter, moisturizer, serum, sunscreen, etc) and you'll be able to formulate your absolute favourite cushion foundation!
I've been using what I made in this video every day since, and haven't really reached for anything else! Haha :)

You don't need all these ingredients, but I've tried to be as comprehensive as possible with the options. If you only have foundation, that'll do too! However I do recommend at least adding in one extra ingredient
- Serum or moisturizer : this helps your product work better with the sponge application and blend in quicker and easier when patting on.
- Mixing Bowl
- Mixer
- Cushion Foundation Container
- Your favourite and correct shade of foundation / BB / CC Cream
- A good, oil-free as possible sunscreen
OPTIONAL
- A smoothing, hydrating but lightweight (can combine a few) serum / Moisturiser Your favourite cream or liquid
- Highlighter / Illuminating Base (Optional)
- Colour Correcting Cream / Liquid
Mix up to your skin's needs and personal preferences! Have fun! :D

I wish i never throw away my empty bb cushion to trashbin. In this past few year i use bb cushion alot, like 15 or 20 and keep purchased different brand. But since Jen making a video about DIY BB cushion, it can save my money using mix up bb cream and serum. Thanks again Jen.

I've tried several cushions myself and I still recommend the Laneige one to us tropical inhabitants in Singapore. You might need to touch up, but I myself, an oily mess, only need to touch up once everyday.

This is amazing! i am planning to buy a bb cushion so it would be easier to carry around and I could retouch my makeup when i am out and not have to bring my liquid bb cream. And i am not sure if I want to buy refills also in the long run. Thank you so much!

Maybe she already applied tone essence or bb cream. Korean essence are like cc cream and suncreen in one that brightens your skin to lool flawless
So glad someone made a video on this :) Always had a thought about why not just putting more foundation/bb cream into an empty cushion instead of throwing away the good quality packaging... I want to try the Lancome cushion but it doesn't seem that worth it to me because I feel like it'd run out pretty quick for me and it's expensive like you said )):

I was actually just on a cushion pact hunt last night and it frustrated me to no end that the shades didn't match and I wasn't sure if Laneige's BB Cushion's in Dark/Cocoa/Coffee shades match. first off this was so helpful to me. I wanted to try the cushion foundation for awhile but they never have my shade. but when I saw this video it surprised me. but I want to know. once your first batch is done do we have to buy the new cushion again or can we use the same one.
