RGT was my free goto, till Whoosh and indie Velo. Hope all that RGT work finds a home, even in an opensource project

I tried indievelo yesterday and it's a great free app.
I used to ride on zwift and rgt and this is somewhere between.
all the menu and ui is something similar to zwift but the ride itself it's close to that of rgt.
I'll give it a try as this app might be a really good alternative to what's right now on the market.
I found Indie Velo from DCR’s video. Glad to see you covered it here too. They seem to have taken the best lessons learned from the others.
Definitely worth looking at. They’ve done a lot of things right.
I will miss RGT... I used Magic Roads to upload race routes to test/prepare for L'Etape races..

I've been waiting for your response since the morning RGT sent out the email! Gonna miss Magic Roads for sure, just switched over to Rouvy, their rides are pretty impressive but wish they hadn't taken down their route creator. Gonna give Indie Velo a shot.. thanks for you video, always super helpful! I'm becoming a serial cycling app hopper lol

So, why was magic roads “not the best way to ride indoors”? Indoor training is a supplement to real wild training, it’s not meant to be only type of riding a cyclist does. RGT made training indoors, challenging and fun, it allowed the rider to quickly, set up a training ride, and focus on weakness and maintain your strengths, and magic roads allowed a rider to challenge yourself against the bots. Zwift was the 1st player on the block, they have the numbers, because of being the 1st riding platform, and they take there money and market, that does not make it a good training platform. Wahoo ruined and killed RGT, really because of bad business practices on RGT development (they lost many subscribers when they screwed up the steering, draft, and bot interaction,) and on the hardware side (too much supply little demand, too much debt.)
It all depends on how you use it. I think the majority creates “magic” routes to see how fast they go on that route. If that’s the goal, then, following a structured training plan would be more beneficial than riding a specific course indoors in my opinion.
I was thinking about subscribing to Wahoo X just for the Magic Roads feature of RGT. I am training for a ride, and I want to ride it virtually so that I can gauge my progress in my training.
Honestly I didn’t think magic roads was that good. I thought it would be good for some of my training on hilly routes, but even after a lot of time spent manually smoothing the routes (raw gpx files will not yield rideable results), it still wasn’t very good. You’d be better off doing structured training or riding routes on Zwift (or other platform) and measuring your progress doing those repeatedly

For some reason he didn't mentioned that Indievelo is the only one that offers a "virtual shifting" just touching the keys + or - on keyboard. The big vantage in that is you can use any Carrefour (or Walmart) bike on the Smart trainer, you don't need to have fiscal gears, so, you can keep your road training bike out of your smart trainer, AND, there's no consume in cassete and etc... Only Indievelo has that!
I did a number of videos on indieVelo and I did mention it in one of them. It is a nice feature 👍
magic roads were great for reccys of race routes to train on in advance
If I read the release correctly, RGT is going away but System X will remain?
I actually used X a lot more last year than RGT.
If it is still available, do you know the cost?
I looked for Indie Velo but it appears as though the Beta testing version is not available. Is this correct or am I misreading something?

Why this over Swift?
I don't know if this is connected to recent changes on wahoo offert, but by 3 long weeks I have a problem to sync trainingpeaks with wahoo. I opened a ticket but they don't solve the problem so I can have access to my structure workouts. Someone experiment the same bad isssue?? Tell me yes please
Hmm… will have to check on that to see if anything changed. Have you tried re-syncing your TrainingPeaks to RGT?

Our developers unfortunately, due to the complex nature of their work, do not provide dates or timelines for resolution.
When a new version with a fix is released, you will receive an automatic update here letting you know.

Ah, FulGaz, good catch! They're definitely on the map with their cinematic, real-world video routes. But they do lack the social vibe that you get with RGT and Zwift. Great if you're into the solo riding experience, but maybe not the go-to for group rides or events.

Like with soccer and all other sportswashing activities, all the money, still poor result. A few more billions may fix it, eventually. Then change from copycat to the thought leader, that's a whole new ballgame

Totally get it, riding with bots can feel like a bit of a ghost town at times. But hey, even Zwift started out with bots to keep riders company. It's usually a stepping stone until the user base grows.
i got a response today that Rouvy plans to release user created routes (Magic Roads) in 2024 awesome news. I am giving Rouvy a try, everytging there looks very polished thats what i like. My woosh locks very good but i did hear that Grouprides and Races are not so good because of the ride Physics but i have only done ERG Mode and solo rides and that did work perfectly fine. Some people have issues with mywoosh because where the money is coming from.
That’s good to know about ROUVY
I am a happy long term Rouvy user. They are constantly improving the app w new features and better graphics. As for Wahoo I never liked anything about their brand image nor their products.
Did wahoo actually send out zwift codes for wahoo x subscribers?
You should have received email communication from Wahoo about RGT closure.
