Yup, I have a set a Propper brand BDUs in FG that I've had for a few years now and have washed them numerous times. They are definitely faded and definitely have the fading spots you showed.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on popular ATACS patterns and fabrics. My first FG's from a few years ago faded on the first wash. A full set isn't exactly low cost but it's time to replace what I have. Your Partisan Pull-over might be what brought me to your channel in the first place. Still on my list too !!! Yep, happy subscriber !
I have 3 different propper fg items, I got a brand new never washed ACU shirt, a possibly washed TACU combat shirt, and a washed several times BDU pants. The pants are very faded looking for anyone who knows what it looks like new, these were my first ATACS FG items. I mainly got them because FG seems to be very hard to find these days from any brand, I recently ordered a tru spec pair of FG ACU pants and I'm really excited to see how they hold up!
I had the Propper brand Atacs FG acu’s, I unloaded them because of the same reasons. My multicam Propper stuff has been fine, which is weird, not sure what they did differently, like you said, with spec dyes and stuff. But when I go to get more, it’ll be tru-spec and 0241 Tactical from here on out. Good video brother!
John, thanks for the heads up on the fading problem. The True Spec shirt I got from you did not fade after it was washed. Speaking of shirts, I like the one you are wearing. Thanks buddy!
I have worked in the reproduction ww2 camo field since 1993, it sounds like the first batch (s) had issues with: the fabric not being scoured prior to printing, the dyes not being colorfast correctly, etc.
Not a lot of comments but I think those spots has something to do with your detergent and your washing machine. I have has the same thing happen on new shirts. All of them are black so it really shows on them. Check the washing specs and make sure your following the instructions.
Thanks for the camp tips and for not being a know it all. Like the fact you talk to people with respect and it’s much appreciated. Was supposed to say camo tips spell correct does that anyway great 👍🏼 job good content keep it up and good luck and my prayers if TSHTF..
Does your washer have one of those spiral center agitators? I washed my atacs AU (maybe it’s an FG issue) 5 times in a row to soften them up with detergent and softener and have no fading issues.
Great video, I noticed fading like that in my old BDUs from Propper. Since we both live in the hot and steamy south, between the 0241 jacket and the new BDU-X top, which top do you recommend for summer wear?
Hey brother, I asked you a while back where you got your tiger strip shirt. And you said you never owned any tiger strip stuff, I see it must have been this pattern you had on because it looks a lot like tiger strip pattern. Thanks bud I'll look into the true speck uniforms.
That first item you showed there, wasn't all that bad to me....It just sorta/kinda made it look "Woodies" to me he-he. Now I shore wouldn't want the strips in it like you said (zebra camo) 👎🏼 Thanks for all the info on this👍🏼

I had fading issues with my proper woodland bdus especially the pants!
Awesome , especially when it fades
I had the Propper brand Atacs FG acu’s, I unloaded them because of the same reasons. Good video brother keep up the good work stay safe out there brother.
Russian equipment by BARS has the exact same weird fading issue after washing
I bought some Rit dye for the purpose of redying my ATACS FG and some woodlands to see if I can get the old Vietnam era woodland pattern.
Thank you for the information.
I absolutely love your videos bro! Definitely Subbing to your channel now!
I had purchased a very early set of propper Multicam when that first came out and had fading issues upon first wash.
John, thanks for the heads up on the fading problem. The True Spec shirt I got from you did not fade after it was washed. Speaking of shirts, I like the one you are wearing. Thanks buddy!
John, thanks for sharing, atb !
Good information.
ATACS FG is just OD after awhile lol
Turn em inside out and wash emand see if the problem gets fixed?

Do you use detergent
Didn't realize you were part of 241 Tactical. Was on site just other day for first time. You'll be getting some orders from me soon.
I’m not. The owner is just a good friend.
Simple solution, use Hemp fabric and different inks.
All that merging camo patternthn giant squares of velcro....

I'd about bet that some of the fading problem comes from the choice of detergent as well as manufacturer defect. Just a thought...
Thank's John.
Do they make an arid version? Too much green for me.
Yes, the AU-X pattern. I just did a video on it.
I noticed the UCP stuff would fade fast to and would get brighter as it aged. Same dye? or manufacture?

That depends. Both are viable.

I had a old set of Propper Tiger Stripe's, but that's been some years ago. Never really used them for anything.
never heard of an Ultimate Coup De Etat Test" but it must be severe ! :)

No, it's not that bad. However, that's just one washing and no wearing. Every subsequent washing usually makes it significantly worse.
so its propper not atacs
Atacs claimed the fading issue was solved while back
It was.
I don't know why, but Tru-spec seems very "Basic" and cheap.
It is basic. That's what's good about it.
