So many people commenting negatively about him having his phone sound so silly, he's in MANDATORY quarantine due to covid. He's clearly upset about his situation, yet making the best of it by using his time to educate future recruits. Respect to this man.

I'm not going to post anything negative but what I'm thinking they're referring to is I don't know what the army standard is because I was in the Marine corps and I went to basic training in the mid '90s before cell phones and I think still to this day is still the same they don't allow electronic devices in basic it's good old fashion paper and pen to write home to your family and a payphone

@@corbettknowles9942 When I went through Army BCT back in 2006, reception is where you do inprocessing, medical, uniform issue, and various other things. You're not in Basic Training yet, and you don't have a Drill Sergeant yet. Cellphones were not turned in yet since Reception is a different Battalion than the one you'll be assigned to for Basic. So they want you to have all of the stuff you came with, on you instead of turned in somewhere. That happened after getting to basic, you'd turn in your contraband (any jewelry or civilian cloths) and cellphones.
However nowadays I think recruits do have cellphones in basic since the payphones have been removed. I don't know how it is now, but from what I've heard from people who went in years after me is that cellphones are kept away from recruits except on Sundays to call home like we used to with the payphones.
What we see here is a recruit in reception waiting to go to Basic, but due to covid madness he was in quarantine. They probably continued to let him have his cellphone since he likely had nothing else to pass the time with. He's likely sitting in that room every day only leaving to shower and use the bathroom and likely being given MREs for meals.

The two different types of tops you were issued are not specific for combat and non combat, the one with the pockets on the front is the regular OCP top and the one without pockets is the hot weather top, combat shirts are a different thing made of nomex to be fireproof. The Goretex isn't that effective for keeping out cold and is more of a wet weather jacket, when worn with the fleece and waffletop underneath it can help insulate you.

Anyone looking for tips at FT Benning OSUT ask away, I was in 3rd Platoon, Easy Co. 1-19 this past year.
I'm now serving in the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. The simplest tip I can give is:
OSUT is just a game, it doesn't at all represent the "real Army"... It's simply 22 weeks of resilience training and basic knowledge. So the moment you begin to give up, and trust me, everyone has that moment at one point, let me tell you that after it's all done and you go to your Duty Station it is nothing like FT Benning. Keep your head up, play the game.

The hose water is potable. You aren't drinking from the streams. It's the same water you would get from the water fountain, sinks, etc.. It comes from the water treatment plant right there on Fort Moore (Benning) and has the same water standards as any other state as they all are supposed to conform to Federal regulations. Even had it come from a well and the well wasn't damaged then you'd still get good water. So, 2:22 Basic Training Myth No. 1.

Anyone coming into the comments looking to bash him for having his phone or being an E-4 in IET, heres the run down. As mutiple explained, he was quarantined due to covid by himself, so they allowed him to keep his phone (im pretty sure none of you who went to BCT had to be quarantined in the 90s and early 2000s), secondly you can get the rank of SPC by having a bachelor's degree, so thats why he came straight into the army as an E4. Sidenote to the people calling him a snowflake for whatever he, suck it up, babies, boo hoo, your IET sucked we get it, but vets older than you would call you snowflakes as well. Extra sidenote, he was unfortunately medically discharged after being a holdover due to covid, but holy shit he's buff.

You literally just got off the bus and have your first issue. I don’t even know why you made this video🤷‍♂️Yeah, if your really out of shape the may put in a FTU fitness training unit and you have 8 weeks to pass your PT test at 30th AG. I’m not really sure how you got through MEPS with a medical problem that would hold you back in 30th. I was at 30th for 5 weeks before heading down range, they were backed up IDK They told us 16th different thing as to why. Once you go down the range your phone and anything civilian items except maybe a few pictures the other locked up at least in my experience. I was seeing some videos from Fort Benning basic training and it’s gotten a lot easier. All they can do is smoke you and yell a lot, they won’t touch you. They may toss in your locker while you’re at attention, and maybe throw a drawer at your head, if you move your broke position of attention if you just let it hit you in the face your good but your face hurts stuff like that. I don’t know things have changed so much. If you could sleep more, basic would be a blast. Good luck!

Goodness! Your barracks look like a motel room! And PT uniforms? What's wrong with doing PT in boots and combat clothing?
Well, it's been over 50 years since I got out and there have been a few changes, including barracks. We were issued four sets of cotton fatigues, four sets of cotton khaki uniforms (two with short sleeves), two pair of boots and a pair of "low quarter shoes," all of which had to be spit-shined. Plus two sets of AG-44 uniforms (greens). A cap and and an overseas cap and two baseball caps, which I never liked. A field jacket, which I did like. Socks and underwear, belt and buckle, collar insignia, poplin dress shirts, towels and a necktie. Overcoat and raincoat. Men have been known to join the Navy to avoid wearing a necktie. Everything went to the laundry. Nobody did their own laundry and there was hardly any place to do that anyway. Upon being assigned to a permanent combat unit, you got even more uniforms: a second field jacket; wool shirt and pants; field pants and a parka with a liner. The field jacket had a liner, too, but I don't remember where it was issued but I did get one. I have no memory of being required to buy specific toiletries but I probably had to. I'd say basic training was rather more basic then. I took my basic training at Fort Knox, same place as my father and same place as my son.
One other minor difference: most men entering basic training had been drafted.
I've looked and looked to see what soldiers were issued and the most recent I found was from FY 2017. The video covered things pretty well except for the dress uniforms. There was a cash allowance for the PT shoes and socks.
