I usually am against cheesing bosses on my first play through, but as a melee build this boss has been a hellish nightmare. I will be making an exception
At church of plague's grace site (around where you kill the dragon for 70k rune) , you could literally just jump off a cliff into Raddahn's arena. You'll die but it let you respawn at Stake of Marika which is where the boss fight is. I got this from a speedrunner Elajjaz which seems very consistent.
It might be picking nits, but this isn’t cheese, it’s a fantastic strategy using in-game mechanics. The Fire Giant strategy is tasty cheese, this is just smart. Great video!!
I think this method is absolutely fair. You just used your tools intelligently and everything worked as it's intended to do and didn't exploit a SW bug
I had been throw my head against a wall for 2 1/2 hrs on this guy. Beat him 3rd try with this strat! Thanks bro! This dude is impossible for melee builds to take head on q_q
You can skip Radahn’s arrow rain and avoid dodging arrows altogether by simply running forward once you enter the boss arena, summon two of the spirits till he shoots the rubbish in front of you, then head left, hide behind the pile till he shoots that one, continue to the left and behind the piles where you can just wait till the phantoms come close enough so he puts away his bow, then all you need to do to win is to get two rotten breaths on him in total, while resummoning phantoms and keeping social distance … and having good RNG with his crash landing
I’m not even joking when I said this saved me. After multiple attempts of not even getting him to half health, I beat him after a couple of tries. Thank you for the help!
OMG it actually work I been trying to beat him since last Thursday an I already had rotten breath thanks to this video I managed to kill him under 5 minutes!! Great video an well explained!!
Yo. If not for this video, I would never have killed Radahn. A few tips for those like me: 1) You might not need to respec if you’re only missing a few points from Faith and Arcane. You can get Marika’s Scarseal from Sofria River Well for +3 to Faith and Arcane. There’s a +5 Faith talisman and get a talisman that decreases cast time just in case. 2) If you don’t wanna kill the old dragon cause of side quest, fight the one in Limgrave river, Flying Dragon Agheel. Super easy at this point. 3) Pack at least 4 blue flasks and the rest red flasks. Unless you’re as good as dodging like Kibbles, be prepared to get hit like me. Though I still sucked and got hit by his stupid purple arrows a few times, I still did this in one shot. Summoned heroes, sprayed him once, ran away and summoned more. Second phase, summon more and spray him once. Then RUN until he disappears from your sight and keep going. He’ll die very quickly after that. Thanks again, Kibbles. I saw this strat mentioned in other video comments, but you made it look easy for us without hope.

Fuck that thing lol been playing with 16 vigor the whole game as a bet with a buddy and that thing is obnoxious. Jumping heavys with the jump attack talisman ended up helping me get the staggers on em
You can just run around and let the summons kill him. When the summons die, after a while you can summon them again, just run around the map and find the sign to summon them.
Found out if you hold triangle and hit L1 while your riding and u have your seal in your left hand u will put your right hand away and only use your left just a little tip I found out

I do have the rot breath incantation and loads of flasks the trick is just getting close enough to Radahn to where the rot breath actually hits him , that's the tricky part so I'm still working on him .
I hit him until he had about 60% HP, then I went near the water, next to the entrance, I hit him up to 50% HP, and I made him fall into the water, when he rises and attacks you in the form of a shooting star.
Best to use the Flamberge(bleed with frost AoW) and stay mounted. Try to keep between or behind his legs and do as much damage as you possibly can in phase 1. If you get in the hits you're capable of on a mount it will take him to about 1/3 health or maybe a little more. Then rinse and repeat with your mount and dodge shockwave with double jumps and steer clear of gravity pulls and depending upon how much your sword is upgraded and your level, it's possible to beat him in a couple of minutes. You can dismount for extra hits if you feel confident enough to roll his damage abilities. Easy peasy.
Anybody can explain to me how Rotten Breath is supposed to work? I have already killed Radahn at least 2 times (different characters of course), and it is still a surprise when Rotten Breath takes hold. Most of the time it simply does not, and I have no idea why. I am taking stupid risks by getting really close and not leaving immediately, but that does not seem to help. Then, suddenly, out of the blue, it works! I cannot find the logic of the whole thing. edit: It is has been patched. It is not enough to just click once on the spell. You have to hold for it to take.
you can skip the fight before Radahn if you get the dectus medallion first? I know you can skip it if you advance Ranni's questline a bit (because of the festival), I didn't know about the medallion though -- are you sure? That doesn't make any sense progression-wise

Also on one of my alts that hasn't even fought margit, it had the medallion and didn't have to fight it. It could be something else though, idk, but someone told me before that it was the dectus medallion
i honestly didnt even know there was a giant out at the front , let alone a mini boss ....I barely have advanced rannis quest...did seluvis' bit and that was it really...hadnt met blaidd in siofr river yet cuz i already went to the fort for radahn and blaidd was jsut there chillin

Holy crap batman, this worked first go. Luckily I had Mariksa scarseal to get my arcane to 12 and I already had a put points in faith to use the dragon head weapon of Godrick. I had 9 dragon hearts too so could buy the spells. I was putting this fight off for ages. I wonder how many rotbone arrows would proc rot on him if you didn't have the specs or hearts? Anyway thanks for making this woeful player look like a champ for a few minutes.

me whose upgrades already cost 40k+ runes and can't use rot breath, me who focused on melee and spent all my money on strength and health, me whose arcane and faith are level 10...
A warning for players on the first playthrough, avoid killing Radahn if you wasn't told to ingame. He's tied to a long quest that would skip so much dialogues and lores if you killed Radahn too early.
Got him to 1/4 health hitting him with Night Maiden's Mist but my Int just wasn't high enough to make it go the distance and he beat me senseless. Rot is sooooo much better.
Idk what I'm doing wrong, the breath itself will do damage but even after 2 consecutive breaths, the damage over time never gets afflicted. Back to the drawing board for me I guess
Weird, been trying this for like the past three days and rotten breath doesn’t seem to do shit to his health for me, I’m level 61 and have the required fair to use that spell effectively and it doesn’t do a damn thing. Anytime I get close he outs me like a bad habit.

yeah... this is why I allways try in those games to have a plan B. Since I am dexterity / Intelligence I can use sorceries and/or bow.

He was difficult with Melee (strength/colossal weapon) but not impossible if you keep on spawnning the summons.

Me freaking too. I just reallocated my stats and did this. Sometimes you do what you have to do.

There's actually an actual cheesier way. Run to the corner of the map up a hill and he will end up falling off the side trying to attack you.

Same, it does good outright damage but the status effect doesn't apply

Literally every time on his second phase he glides around nonstop and randomly aggros on me. That's what I get for trying to cheese I guess.
