Thanks very much. I am 64 yrs old and a Recycled Teenager :). The ole reflexes aren't what they used to be, so I need all the help I can get. Your videos are very well done, and I appreciate the effort you have gone to, to help others.
OMG I wondered what the hell was going on in storm vale…I thought I was going a bit mad because I’d pick up my runes and have a mental tally of how many I had and would keep coming up short…..thank you!!!!
I wish I knew this before. I had done some good old farming gained 45k runes and died, but when I got back to my runes it was only 30k. I had never been so mad at the game
one very important tip that it might pass unnoticed is that after killing the ulcerated tree, you should check on the blood spill near the "alien-like" creature and then talk to Rogier to progress his quest line
@@tylocook Even if you missed the blood spill you can progress the Rogier questline. Just talk to him at the church inside the Stormveil Castle. After look for him at roundtable. He will be at right side of the balcony.
@@tylocook i did not find the blood (skipped the whole area including the boss, since i didnt notice it) and still managed to finish his quest line, if you get bloodstain he will send you for some item, but you can get the item without him sending you. So you can just get the item on your own and he will have new dialog option anyway.
I learned a few new things here, even after 300 plus hours and numerous characters so thank you! One thing, not really a secret but possibly missable, is that just outside of the grace near the ogre there's an item on the ledge and you can fall from that ledge safely to get to the tree spirit, in case anyone was wondering, or didn't unlock the door from the other side
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but the room with the dogs has a quest item for Rodrika in place of the cloak. She will cry after you give it and then go to the Roundtable hold. You keep interacting with her and she will give you a golden seed. The next time you enter that room, her cloak will be there. I suggest talking to Rogier in the church before fighting the tree spirit. If you do, there will be a bloodstain next to the giant face. This will help start his little quest that leads to Ranni.
Tip for cheesing the Crucible Knight at 4:13! You can crouch in the bushes, wait for him to walk by, and then sneak past to run to the elevator. Raise it to reveal the bottomless pit. Then lure the knight into chasing you. If you stand on the other side of the elevator, he’ll try to run across the gap and fall to his death. And you’ll still get the loot!
I snuck past him but I did it to find a grace which the elevator lead me too, so I could return to kill him. He was way easier than the one in the evergol, not much harder than the banished knights.
I've spent quite a while in Stormveil Castle and I thought I'd explored it all, but you revealed two areas that I'd somehow missed. Great video and look forward to more!
12:49 The unique buckler that gostoc sells is actually the best item in the game for parrying, it has the most parrying frames of all shields and daggers
Stormveil is one of the best dungeons in any From game to date. Such an intricate, vast design. SO many secrets. On my fourth playthrough, I was still finding new paths and secret areas.
@@pegasusrr3156 Anor Londo is still in the top 3. And still probably the most meaningful to me personally. But as far as intricate design and pathing I'd say Stormveil rivals it.
@Guccius Maximus I dual wielding is fun, but if you're new to FromSoft you might wanna consider running either a two-handed weapon or a shield in your build. Blocking tends to help you stay alive longer if you're not amazing with your roll timing
i’m a souls fan and i HATE this dungeon. very confusing and ive spent hours running in circles trying to find my way back on the rooftops. its okay but definitely not the “best” souls area thats for sure. maybe aesthetically but not fun if you are just trying to rush to the goods.
2 years later i finally got my hands on elden ring and tried to loot that area blind before checking out TH-cam videos and hell yeah i managed to get them all (besides the 2 mini bosses loot - they wreck me 😂) and the video helped me a ton because i hate beeing clueless if i missed something. Big thanks for the work you put in there ❤
Can I just say that I really appreciate this series! Most of the content I have seen on Elden Ring has been "OP Builds" or item locations. These videos are mostly spoiler free as well as super helpful so please keep up the great work!!
At the rampart with the sandbags at 17:53, if you head right you can jump across to the tower the bird is perched on. Part of the crenellations were destroyed and some of the roof is missing; there is an item, a Stonesword Key, if I recall correctly. The bird is harder to fight up close but item.
You can use any melee weapon with a dropping vertical attack to make short work of it. I staggered it on the way down and finished him with quick attacks
You can also kill him from above with magic without taking any damage. Because well the birds don't actually fly they act like they have invisible geet and can even fall off of a ledge.
This falls in line with the easiest route to get to the front of the castle. You can drop in, get the stonesward key, kill the bird and run north across the rooftops to the courtyard area. There's a drop to a low roof line, and then it drops off into the courtyard right where the steps are for the room full of rats blocking the stonesward gate. Unlock that gate and it takes you right behind enemy lines at the front of the castle and you can easily kill off all the enemies there from behind, one by one. I feel like this was a sort of discoverable planned route by FromSoft considering how you gain a key to open it along the way. It's also a lot easier than taking the rooftops all the way around and fighting all those knights.. lol.
Passing through Stormveil Castle on NG+, I entered with about 650k runes. I recall thinking I only needed 20k more runes to level up. An hour and a half later, I end up dying for the first time to the lion badass near the end. After sprinting through 30 guys to recover my runes, I was overtaken by an actual army seconds later. Minutes later, after taking a more calculated approach, I snagged my runes and ported back a grace to level up. I'd lost track of my runes but by that time I figured I should have well over 700k. But I'll be damned if I don't find a mere 245k runes in my account when I load in. My initial though was, "What?! No way! I know I had....", then .5 seconds later it hit me - I got got by fuckin Gatekeeper Gostoc. Got got real hard. He took me for so much, I wasn't even mad. Hustlers gonna hustle.
@@GWAlistair I read that you would no longer get your runes back after killing Godrick. That may or may not be the case but I'm just going to wait a little while so I can snag his ancient stone later on and achieve optimal revenge. Once that ever so precious item is purchased, I'll thank him graciously and congratulate him on his new throneside position. Then I'll bid him farewell as I burn the high and mighty gatekeeper alive on my way out.
There’s loot above the grafted scion! Must enter from above the rooftops, you can see the entrance across the pit of meat and digs next to the grafted’s room
18:10 you can actually get to this bird from behind by dropping from the top of the tower behind it 19:35 After you get the golden seed you can pick up something in between the buildings on your right hand (if you're towards the giant)
There is a tip that is probably missing. In the room with the Scion, there is a door that cannot be opened from that side. In order to open that door, you have to go outside the past the room where the Mimic Veil is found and on the left jump over a wall with sandbags. There will be a wooden platform with a very easy to miss ladder against the wall at the very end. Go up this ladder, run across the roof and you can jump down. You kill a few guys and you can then access the area behind the door for a Stonesword Key and a chest.
Random tip for the Ulcerated Tree mini boss. It's ridiculously easy to lose aggro, if you need a minute to catch your breath. Just step behind a corner and drop into a crouch. The creature will forget where you are, even if it is literally walking into you. It's body may push you out of the way as it turns, then after a few moments it will wander off across the arena. Then you're free to stand up, walk around, pick up items on the ground, use potions, and charge a slow spell. It won't react until you deal damage.
So there's one thing that you missed near the beginning (talking about gostoc): if you let him trap you with the knight and then run back down to the bottom where the exile roams the boxes, Gostoc will be cowering on the left side of that area. If you talk to him there, he'll give you an item.
Out of curiosity, what did he give you? I killed the guy when I learned he was the one stealing my Runes. THOU SHALT NOT STEAL MY SWEATILY OBTAINED RUNES.
I know, it says so in the video. I don't really care, I don't want to upgrade every weapon I own to top level so I can live without the single dragon smithing stone he sells.
@@The_Stranger70 If you kill him you get a bellring though that you can turn in at the roundtable hold and buy what i expect to be the same things he's selling. I killed him immediately after seeing a message that called him a traitor or something because he obviously spoke like he was up to no good so i were already suspicious. I didn't know what he would do but I didn't care to find out if i could avoid it lol.
So turns out I found everything in the castle, but I had no idea about the double health thing with summons, although that summon for godrick is actually very strong and distracts him for ages so I reckon it made it heaps easier
me too and without 2nd phase! because he staggered before phase 2 so i got a free critical hit, and when he was about to enter phase 2 animation, i beat the hell out of him + jellyfish + the npc and then he turned to ash 😂
Yeah, she's pretty great. Excellent tank, keeps the aggro basically constantly and actually survives impressively long if you don't do anything - longer if you & jellyfriend occasionally pull the aggro away, which you will probably be doing if you use the massive openings you get by not having to worry about being attacked yourself. She did die in phase 2 for me (roasted by the dragon I think), but by that time the boss was mostly dead and jelly & I were still in great shape.
The first time I summoned her I got him to 20% without him entering second phase. His increased health didn't really matter much because I was using reduvia's weapon art to bleed. Low focus cost and 5 hits was all it took to bleed... With this strat having another target to draw his attention was great
The ulcerated tree spirit was the first boss I encountered when I started my game I took the two keys as starting gift and opened the fog gate after the tutorial... That was a hard start but it was rewarding when I finally got him down. 😊
Experiencing that thing for the first time was something else. I explored a lot of Stormveil and got to that point via the "intended" route. It certainly was rewarding, but holy shit it was terrifying.
When I started the game, I missed the path behind Godrick into Limgrave, I just teled out instead or something. This lead me to assume that Caelid was the second zone you were supposed to go to, and I ran around getting my behind handed to me. When I checked the internet, people wrote this game is hard and I was like yeah, f*ckhard dumbsh*t.
I've been playing this game completely blind. When I feel like I'm completely done with a region and found everything I watch this series to see what I missed. Great vids! Crazy to think you searched a region/place to its fullest and still miss things. Keep up the great content. Thank you!
6:00 FYI there is an easier way to cheese the lesser crucible knight: Run past him, open the door and you’ll find an elevator Take it, the knight will follow you and fall into the elevator pit
If you don't want to fight the pots (i didn't because i'd have felt bad for slaying Alexander's kin) you can easily sneak past them and loot the items. The pots are usually not very agressive
You get to it from the obstacle course right next to the site of grace. When you go outside towards the courtyard(from site of grace) look to the right and drop down it looks like you would die but you dont. You will lose a lil health but it's an obstacle course with a few pickups and an underground section of the castle.(in the video he went a different way than I did so I guess there is more than 1 way)
The Crimson Hood only appears in the dog room after Roderika has moved to Roundtable Hold. Before that her quest item, the Chrysalids Memento is found there. Giving that to her sends her to the Hold, otherwise she goes once you beat Godric or enter Liurnia via the crumbling bridge. After she goes the Hood shows up there, regardless of whether or not you had grabbed the Chrysalids Memento.
I went back to the castle because I felt like exploring more and especially wanted to reach the Western tower but accidentally ended up in the dog room again and found the hood. I was weirded out how an item spawned once more.
Stormveil Castle is an amazing first legacy dungeon. First play through of the game I really only managed to get the basic shortcuts to the graces, and the stones word key doors, but I just started my second play through and I kept going up the tower that the Rampart Site of grace is in, and spent about 30 minutes just platforming through the rooftops of stormveil castle. The area is like three times the size I thought it was when I first played the game, and I found out about even MORE secret areas through this video. From Software really did a fantastic job with this game, the exploration and rewards you get from going off the beaten path makes this game one of the most fun experiences in an open world game that I’ve played. I’m sure there will only be more for me to come across every time I think I’ve explored and seen it all.
in case it hasnt been discovered yet i found that from Rampart Tower where the 4 storm hawks are, the hawk on the left that you can see through the trees you can jump down from this point and find an ash of war and then fight a banished knight for another reward. I cant remember everything in that section so forgive me if its not a detailed as it should be.
About Gostoc's questline: it joins up with Nepheli Loux's and Kenneth Haight's. So you need to complete both of their questlines. For Kenneth Haight, you need to take back his fort and he'll be in the back of his Fort. For Nepheli, you need to NOT give her Seluvis's potion and DO give her the storm hawk ashes found at the Chapel of Anticipation (warp gate is at the Four Belfries in Liurnia of the Lakes). Once that is done, rest at the Godrick grace, and all three should move into the throne room that is behind the battlefield where you fought Godrick. This also requires Gostoc to be stamping on Godrick's corpse after the Godrick fight. Once they are all in the throne room, Gostoc becomes a merchant.
Hey, thank you for the effort of making this! For sake of completion: There is a Stonesword Key you can pick up on one of the balconies at the big room with the Grafted Scion. Think someone already mentioned it in the comments. Also there is a NPC in a church that sells you some Ashes of War and is related to a questline in game. The church is located down when you cross the path with the birds and the explosive barrels.
Hijacking the pinned comment, the video says killing the gate keeper is not a bad idea but he is now part of a quest and becomes a vendor in the throne room of stormveil castle now. One of the new item he sells at that point is pretty valuable and I don't think you can get that item if you kill him early.
nvm I gave it another try. Carefully analyzed the location of the platform and marked the possible entry point. Eventually figured out a way to reach it. Guess for this game you just have to git gud... not just with combat but also pathfinding lol
5:30 Bro my first time playing Elden Ring blind didnt know that he was a crucible knight i swear to god i ran past him saw the lift step on it but had a second thought and rolled off it the knight chase me and fell into the hole without me realizing how lucky i was.
I found most of the things myself but I spent SO MANY hours in there, even after killing the boss. What took me the longest was finding the entrance to the room containing the spellbook and the catalyst or whatever you use for casting. I found the exit first, couldn’t enter from that side, marked the room on the map and then wondered around for like an hour looking for ledges or illusionary walls 😅
Wow, since I went through the castle in more detail after beating Godric, I never knew Nepheli was there and you could summon her for the fight. Thanks for the vid.
I'm shocked this video didn't mention Rogier's bloodstain under Stormveil. It's a pretty big part of advancing his questline, I think. This is the kind of thing I'd expect in this video and it missed it.
I didn't even realize it was Gostoc that trapped me in that room. I remember hearing the snickering as the door locked but didn't piece it together that was him. Also, there is another way to cheese that Crucible Knight. If you run past him and he aggros you you can jump on the lift and go up and he will sometimes just jump/fall into the lift shaft and die. lol. Also, I didn't get a Crimson Hood from that dog room. I think you have to do something else for that hood to appear but not sure.
I found that fighting the Ulcerated Tree Spirit was very doable when running towards the end of the tunnel on Godwyn's face. The irregularities the face adds to the terrain causes the boss to miss most of his sweeping tail attacks while allowing you to hug his hitbox for constant damage. Regular dodging and rolling is still required, it isn't cheese, but it does make the fight MUCH more manageable.
16:50… if you think that ulcerated is hard… in the second phase of leyndel city in the back corner are THREE ulcerated tree spirits in one field, and each have probably something like 20 maybe 30k hp? Absolutely insane hahaha
@@DomsRoundtable yeah like you can bait the first one over to the corner by the stairs and 1v1, but the other two spawn at the same time. And hang out together… even taking out the solo is quite the task(melee) with its massive health-bar! The other two you can just run past them against the far right wall and grab the erdtree +2 talisman and then hug that same wall back to the stairs
8:53 There's another way to this grace where you can skip the entire courtyard easily. Starting at the grace on top of the wall before you encounter the birds. You can head out of the door slightly to the right and jump across to the roof you'll stand on at 18:07 anyways. After you've looted the gesture and are on your way back to the pillar, look to your right and you'll see another small roof section you can jump onto. From there drop to the larger roof where a knight and a minor enemy are waiting. Since they're showing you their backs you can easily sneak past them to the left and over a wooden bridge. From there it's a walk in the park to skip the courtyard, if you chose to turn left after the bridge. :)
I cleared the whole Castle this way, I kept respawning back to that grace, taking different routes after the big jump. It is so much easier, as you can fight everyone from much more favourable angles. Saves having to get past the birds with the firebarrels aswell.
And here I was thinking I'd completely done everything in Stormveil. Well, looks like I might have to backtrack sometime soon to finish everything in there.
If you enter the castle through the side, you’ll find a corpse one level above the room where you get the key, I’ve been having trouble getting that one
Yes!! And the part after that giant rootbeast where Rogier met his terrible fate. I liked that poor fellow, really seemed like a standup guy. I know I’m late to the game, but enjoying it nonetheless.
Two comments. 7:43 The dagger that you found is the best backstabb weapon I have found in the game! Upgrade it to +3 and add sacred to it and I have seen it do up to 3800 damage on a repost against susceptible enemies. I have also seen it do 1150 damage on a backstab vs the midget militia in the red blight area. The strategy is not to use it as a weapon but to have it in your second slot and pull it out when you need to backstabb or repost. Oh yea, I dont think the 140 is actually a percentage. It more like it does Damage * 4 extra damage on a crit. When it is +3 and sacred it has like 160 AR which turns in to 640 bonus on a crit. - armor effects. And thats amazing! 12:45 Ghostok is not a useless merchant! He sells the buckler! That thing is the best parry shield in the game! (Probably, it was true in DS3.) It has a bigger parry time window than a normal small shield and a MUCH bigger window than medium shields. It even say as much in the item description. Pairs very well with the dagger above.
i REALLY recommend the black blade for you its just outside the city near the western walls you have to fight a knife assassin its a really REALLY good knife and its AOW does % based health damage like maliketh so good
@@little-rat-tim Actually, I went back and looked up the mechanics of parry shields and I was wrong of facts but not in spirit! Bucklers have a special art of war called buckler parry. It has the same amount of parry frames (11) as every other small shield, but they take effect earlier and thus make it easier to parry on reaction. (At frame 8 instead of frame 11 for small shields.) Neither of these parries are as good as Golden parry or Carian Retaliation however as both of those arts of war have 14 parry frames and also starts at frame 8 as well as having special effects.
This was very helpful, I've cleared stormveil castle with 3 different characters/builds and I never knew about the ash of war in the crucible knight area, and I also had no idea how to get the smithing stone statue broken. It was so frustrating trying to get the ogre to break it and never getting it to work--now I know. There's a sword stone key that I think you may have missed--in tip 12 on the roof tops, when you are at the sandbags go right. IDR if the path continues or if you have to do a little jump-- but if you walk along the ramparts and have to shimmy across a small ledge you'll eventually see a tower with another small ledge. This towers is the one the hard bird is resting on down below on the opposite side of the tower (just for reference). Hop onto that tower and you can walk around its ledge till there's a gap in the ramparts in which you can jump onto. The roof is partially broken, and you can drop down into the tower where you will find a sword stone key. Just be warned you *WILL* have to fight that hard bird.
You will lose runes to Gostoc each time you die in Stormveil, but he actually stores them for you. When you're done with Stormveil/his questline/whenever you want you can kill him then and get your stolen runes back in a lump sum. EDIT: apparently it has to be before you kill Godrick?
If you kill him after beating godrick he only gives you 200 runes. I can't express the utter dissapointment I had finding this out thinking I'd get like 15,000 runes from him
All the time I've been playing this game I never had any idea about the paintings not only that but I'm pretty shocked at how much stuff I missed I really thought I cleared these areas better than this.
You can easily cheese that Crucible Knight by getting him to fall down the lift hole! Just run right by him and wait until he’s almost in the doorway then activate the lift and he’ll just try attacking and fall down the hole! Done!
The place you get the Crimson Hood had a different item for me first time I went there. It was a lore Item. After progressing the NPC connected to that item on the storyline, the Crimson Hood appeared on my second visit on the castle. Great series, Very helpful. The Peninsula video in particular had some good stuff I missed and it helped a lot.
Isn’t that the hood she was wearing when you meet her? She isn’t wearing it anymore after a certain point in the game. I bet that is the queue that she went there and left it for you to find.
Yeah, I was going to mention that as well. There are two possible ways to progress that NPC. It seems as though if you exhaust all of her conversations before you visit the Roundtable Hold the first time, then you need to find the quest item in Stormveil to progress her story. If you meet her but don't fully exhaust her dialogue, she progresses to Roundtable with you and skips that one step.
Man, this video helped me so much. I defeated Godrick really long time ago but missed so many of the things mentioned in this video. Thanks to you when I entered the hall of Godrick, met with 3 characters inside that hall. Never would have come here if not for the video. Received an ancient dragon stone from Nephelie, that I otherwise would've missed. Great video, earned the subscription .
You've missed the balkony in the Grafted Scion Room. I dont know if there is a particulary important item up there but The locked door has driven me crazy for a very long time.
Before you enter the room with the patrolling spear enemy and the tables covered in books and scrolls, jump over the wall with the pile of sandbags, follow the wooden walkway to the end and there’ll be a ladder. Climb up and you’ll drop down into that area on the other side of door.
I was exploring and caught an interesting piece of dialogue with him in the GTG boss area after the fight. Worth a listen honestly. Makes me think there might be more to find out about this guy.
the crimson hood wasn‘t there for me on my first visit, because of a quest. without this video, i would have never known that the crimson hood spawned there lol, thanks!
I’m glad you mentioned this. I’m watching this at work and I just went through this area this morning and I was like I could’ve swore I didn’t get the hood when I looted that same exact spot lol
You get an item to give to Roderika instead which sends her off to the Round Table hold. I'm wondering how the hood was here instead of the letter, possible he didn't progress her story enough or killed her. Edit: looked it up, it appears on a second run through the castle after you've convinced Roderika to take on a new job by at the Hold.
The experience of exploring this castle in Elden Ring is a unique one. This castle is so big that is kinda overwhelming but very rewarding at the same time.
I share this because I thought I was locked out of a couple quests. For those looking to complete quests here are 2 NPC's that contribute to understanding the lore and you can also summon them to defeat Goddrick. •Rogier hidden in a chapel you drop from rooftops starting at the Liftside site of grace (easy to miss so look for a video on the route). He's connected to lore related interactions during Ranni's questline and let's you get Black knives lore. (If you missed him like I did I got a fix) •Nepheli is also at Stormveil and is also a lore expanding NPC. You need to speak with her prior to defeating Goddrick. She is near a site of grace but to avoid any confusion it'd be simpler if you just search 'Nepheli location'. Before you drop to the mini boss around 15:30 there is a scarab. There's also a neat feature of this mini boss. If you missed Rogier on the Liftside site of grace and are planning on completing his questline, go to the room past the boss (where the ladder and the giant squid are) you'll find a bloodstain. Touch that bloodstain (and pick the item in the corpse leaning on the wall if you haven't already). Rogier will now be at the Roundtable resting in the balcony where you drop to fight Alberich. Exhaust his dialogue. All of them. He gives you his Rapier+8 after you defeat Goddrick. Also Nepheli will appear at the roundtable after you speak to Gideon Ofnir (the Nazgul-looking douche that tells you to "know your place"), talk to him, rest at grace and go to the room where the quiet guy leaning on the wall is. She should be there and give you a talisman. For some people who progressed in the storyline she's located downstairs from the blacksmith. Also don't miss her later under the stone bridge when you reach the Village of the Albinaurics. She's kinda related to Rani's questline in the sense that Rani gives you access to another a**hole named Seluvis that gives you a potion to poison Nepheli but you can give the potion to Gideon. Seluvis will think the potion didn't work. Otherwise you'll end up locked out of Nepheli's quest.
@@theawickward2255 I thought I read something about corrin (gold mask slave boy) when he’s on the bridge on his knees with the wooden thing around his neck you can give it to him there. He will refuse it (I think) but you can still offer it I believe idk if it gives you anything. But a cool dialog none the less
Per your request at the end of your video, Just wanted to let you know that I personally am finding your videos SUPER HELPFUL and have even forwarded them along to some of the group chats I'm a part of. Thanks again for your efforts!
7:42 : that dagger (misericode) with crit 140 is one of the best dagger im still using at lvl 170 . its 140% crit damage i didnt find higher crit weapon yet crit = back stab or when they stagger i deals crit 3k damage . i just need 2 dagger with 2 aow , one to stagger and one to crit .
@@Kostadin_Arolski That's exactly what I'm asking. Just wondered what he paired it with. I've not got the bloodhound step ashes yet (new to souls games) but it does look awesome for mobility.
There is also a shortcut to the Minor Erdtree boss that lets you approach from the ladder instead of the path with the rats. From the rooftop where you can see the bird, there's a spot where you can drop down and land on top of a tall tree. From there, you can roll to the right to land on an opening in the wall, leading to the ladder.
I'm a little late to the party having finally picked up the game. I really loved this area, but definitely felt lost more than a few times. I knew I missed a few things, but your video showed I missed out on quite a bit more than I thought as far as some of the platforming sections. I'm not used to a lot of that in Souls games so there are quite a few places I didn't even think to attempt to jump on. So far I've LOVED this series because of your lack of spoilers. Not sure if I'll go back to clear some of this stuff or just keep it in mind for a second playthrough.
For the parry gods amongst you, if you leave Gastoc or whatever his name is, alive, you can come back. And he will sell you a few items including the buckler shield which has a larger parry window. Definitely makes the crucible knights easier. Not easy, but slightly easier.
I have finished stormvale and progressed far enough the loot I missed is irrelevant. But I do think your video is absolutely amazing. Your descriptions of places and enemies are perfect and contain a perfect amount of humour. Thank you for this.
You missed a stonesword key by the bird with a lot of health on the rooftops. The building right behind him has no roof and you can jump down into it to grab the key.
You can use that pointless dead-end to snipe the ulcerative tree whatever after u triggerd it to appear and climbed up the ladder to get away from it. That's how I killed it early game.
@@newbornlog2789 I believe it still works now, this is my partner's first FromSoftware game, so she's cheesing everything she possibly can, and just cheese the Ulcerated Tree Spirit to death last night
I feel like people should mention, if you die enough and don’t follow the story once you kill him he returns all the runes he stole, after days of working in storm castle I learned he stole and I killed him and he returned about 15k runes, so think of him as a savings, just make sure to kill him before doing godrick
A sidenote to Gostocs' "fine goods" one of the items is a buckler, which may seem like it's rubbish with a low physical protection and we all know that Parry can be equipped to most shields and isn't that impressive. What is less commonly known is that the buckler has "Buckler Parry" which provides the most frames to successfully pull of a parry out of every shield or weapon parry in the game. If you like to give it a try, start of as a bandit, have a friend give you one through co-op, or buy one from Gostoc.
Something incredibly confusing for me is that the first time I went into that room with the dogs with the Crimson hood, that hood wasn't there. Instead, I got an item called "Chrysalids' Memento". After watching this video, I went back to that same spot, and the Hood was there this time!!
Ok I thought I was going crazy. The Chrsyalid's memo is for Rodericka's quest line and once given to her allows her to go somewhere else; I will have to go back and collect the Crimson Hood because I thought I simply missed it, or it was a random spawn
@@moderata86 You're not crazy, he must have cleared the room the first time and not remembered grabbing the memento. The hood will be there after Rodericka moves to the Roundtable.
@@timboerger2240 I never got the memento, at least not from that location. First time going into that room i just got the hood and rodericka was already at the roundtable.
@@timboerger2240 Something triggers Rodericka to move to Roundtable Hold without bringing her the memento. If she does, the hood appears there the first time you visit instead.
This is so well done and a delight to watch! You have a great voice for it too :D There's just one thing I noticed this video didn't cover, and that's the item above the annoying fire-breathing bird at 18:05. There's a way to get to the tower just above it. Instead of going left at 17:52 after climbing onto the ledge via the sandbags, go right and jump across a couple ledges. The item is a pretty good one so it's definitely worth it.
If i had only watched this dude when i was struggling with stormhill castle in my first run (the one im playing now) this would have made my life so much easier its impressive how you summarized in so little time the stormhill castle overall experience
Thank you for covering all the areas I honestly missed my first time through. As far as the Ulcerated Tree Spirit is concerned, a second way to "cheese" is to trigger it, run to the ladder, and then work your way through the dining hall, back out to the courtyard, back up the stairs to the Liftside Chamber, and use the now open shortcut door to get back down to where you first triggered it. So long as you don't rest at a grace, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit will be right below you and within range of some spells and all arrows. This is why it's good to clear the bats, rats, and courtyard your first time through. This was not my idea. I stole it from another instructional video because I happened across it accidentally when I was still pre-20 and had my butt handed to me as an Astrologer.
Ha, I actually came up with this last night as I am also an Astrologer and couldn't reach the thing from the original cheese spot. I did not clear the bats or rats, just ran through them again and cheesed this guy from the ledge. Of course, I am level 42 since I spent forever avoiding Margit.
Pretty good guide thanks. I thought I was missing a hidden room or wall, but all the hidden loot all over the place. A couple of them I have missed. There are 2 in particular that are up high that can’t seem to find a way to get to. The first 1 is above in the area near all the fire barrels are. It’s near the room is with the night where the rusty key is. Then the 2nd is in the room with the big spider creature is. I don’t see how you got those items/loot. Help there please. Thanks again. ✌🏽
It's crazy how I first raided this castle, then thinking I done explored everything, accidently watched some playthrough going through a place I never been to. Go back again and thoroughly explore at my best. And until I watch your video only to know I still missed 2 places. Its insanely big and packed
18:07 Above the bird there is a spot you can get to by platforming from the sandbags as well. There is an Item if I remember correctly and you can get a free jump attack on him as well.
LMAO! so its not just me that got rekt by the stupid stonesword message there! Jeeez is such a scrappy mechanic that u actually have to remove it urself?! from software wtf srsly?
Great vid. You can also cheese the centipede by standing in the far corner of the room. Nice and easy, only a small chance of being hit. From must have patched the girl, she tanked the whole fight and lasted to the end in my encounter yesterday. Only needed three tries to beat him.

one very important tip that it might pass unnoticed is that after killing the ulcerated tree, you should check on the blood spill near the "alien-like" creature and then talk to Rogier to progress his quest line
I am so sad I missed this, but is this the first time any souls game has given an NPC bloodstain?
@@tylocook Even if you missed the blood spill you can progress the Rogier questline. Just talk to him at the church inside the Stormveil Castle.
After look for him at roundtable. He will be at right side of the balcony.
@@heliohdcandido yes but that is where it ends unless you find the blood unfortunately
@@tylocook i did not find the blood (skipped the whole area including the boss, since i didnt notice it) and still managed to finish his quest line, if you get bloodstain he will send you for some item, but you can get the item without him sending you. So you can just get the item on your own and he will have new dialog option anyway.
Thank you! He's still at the round table for me, so hopefully not too late. I guess that explains why he's infirmed.

Classic. I would always cheese that frost knight in ds3 with the same shenanigans
I snuck past him but I did it to find a grace which the elevator lead me too, so I could return to kill him. He was way easier than the one in the evergol, not much harder than the banished knights.
Fire pots do major damage on him if you're hiding like that.
This would have been great to know 20 minutes ago lmao
I actually thought about doing that fighting him, but I convinced myself "that couldn't possibly work" so I didn't try it

Same. Turns out I missed like 10 smithing stones.
12:49 The unique buckler that gostoc sells is actually the best item in the game for parrying, it has the most parrying frames of all shields and daggers
Carian Retaliation and Golden Parry Ashes Of Wars are better and can be put on medium shields but Buckler is best until you reach Caria Manor
@@eelyy212Nobody ever realizes this, and you get to keep the medium shield 100% physical block when you do that.

@@DomsRoundtable yo bro I killed Gostoc, still got trapped in the room.
I watch them after I THINK I find everything and fully explore.
Yup - this was one of the missed ones!
Hustlers gonna hustle.
you can kill him and it gives you them back
@@GWAlistair I read that you would no longer get your runes back after killing Godrick. That may or may not be the case but I'm just going to wait a little while so I can snag his ancient stone later on and achieve optimal revenge. A little dissapointed it didn't show up on the list.
@@KB-rh4vd same for me, also a few items are just scattered across the rooftops that you have to parkour for
how do you get there though?
18:10 you can actually get to this bird from behind by dropping from the top of the tower behind it
19:35 After you get the golden seed you can pick up something in between the buildings on your right hand (if you're towards the giant)

It won't react until you deal damage.
this does not work anymore
That "pointless edge" after white fog allows you to kill ulcerated spirit tree from above if you triggered him earlier and run away using long ladder
So there's one thing that you missed near the beginning (talking about gostoc): if you let him trap you with the knight and then run back down to the bottom where the exile roams the boxes, Gostoc will be cowering on the left side of that area. If you talk to him there, he'll give you an item.

Yeah she was a beast with me too, she even used some lightening attacks that straight up kept staggering godbitch I mean godrick
The first time I summoned her I got him to 20% without him entering second phase. His increased health didn't really matter much because I was using reduvia's weapon art to bleed. Low focus cost and 5 hits was all it took to bleed... With this strat having another target to draw his attention was great

You get to it from the obstacle course right next to the site of grace. 5:58 that spell is insanely good against humanoid bosses
For Gostoc, just progress Nepheli Loux's story to its end with Kenneth Haight and you will also complete Gostoc's story as well.
And the reward for keeping Gostoc alive is an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone... which he'll sell to you for 20K runes.
Hey, thank you for the effort of making this! For sake of completion: There is a Stonesword Key you can pick up on one of the balconies at the big room with the Grafted Scion. The church is located down when you cross the path with the birds and the explosive barrels.

Hijacking the pinned comment, the video says killing the gate keeper is not a bad idea but he is now part of a quest and becomes a vendor in the throne room of stormveil castle now.

Seriously there's 3?
That's how I did it
Same I did this exactly lol
I cleared the whole Castle this way, I kept respawning back to that grace, taking different routes after the big jump. It is so much easier, as you can fight everyone from much more favourable angles. Saves having to get past the birds with the firebarrels aswell.
And here I was thinking I'd completely done everything in Stormveil. Well, looks like I might have to backtrack sometime soon to finish everything in there.
If you enter the castle through the side, you’ll find a corpse one level above the room where you get the key, I’ve been having trouble getting that one
I’m surprised you never mentioned Rogier
Pairs very well with the dagger above.
i REALLY recommend the black blade for you its just outside the city near the western walls you have to fight a knife assassin its a really REALLY good knife and its AOW does % based health damage like maliketh so good
actually a buckler doesnt have more parry frames than other parry shields, and in dark souls 3 you had 3 of them (if not more)
@@little-rat-tim Actually, I went back and looked up the mechanics of parry shields and I was wrong of facts but not in spirit!
Bucklers have a special art of war called buckler parry. It has the same amount of parry frames (11) as every other small shield, but they take effect earlier and thus make it easier to parry on reaction. (At frame 8 instead of frame 11 for small shields.)
Neither of these parries are as good as Golden parry or Carian Retaliation however as both of those arts of war have 14 parry frames and also starts at frame 8 as well as having special effects.
I can't express the utter dissapointment I had finding this out thinking I'd get like 15,000 runes from him
@@jimmybjb4472 oh no-I think I killed him right before godrick and got them back. Didn’t realize it had to be before him.
2 ancient dragon smithing stones > pitiful amount of runes
Stop killing npc
If by “stop killing npc” you mean “here’s some information now go have fun playing the game” then yeah I agree, good advice
@@torreygallagher591 do what you want idgaf
All the time I've been playing this game I never had any idea about the paintings not only that but I'm pretty shocked at how much stuff I missed I really thought I cleared these areas better than this.
You can easily cheese that Crucible Knight by getting him to fall down the lift hole! Just run right by him and wait until he’s almost in the doorway then activate the lift and he’ll just try attacking and fall down the hole! Done!
You don't have to fight that crucible knight, you can run past him, get on the elevator and he would despawn forever and you still get the ash of war
He must've fallen off as he was chasing you, i always run past to get the elevator in case i die to him but he is still there when i go back down.
Also, if you go to the right tower from the sandbags at 17:40 you can jump to the other tower in front of you and drop inside for a stonesword key
There are Two keys in the castle total
The place you get the Crimson Hood had a different item for me first time I went there. It was a lore Item. After progressing the NPC connected to that item on the storyline, the Crimson Hood appeared on my second visit on the castle. Great series, Very helpful. The Peninsula video in particular had some good stuff I missed and it helped a lot.
Isn’t that the hood she was wearing when you meet her? She isn’t wearing it anymore after a certain point in the game. I bet that is the queue that she went there and left it for you to find.
@@Ligerpaws Yes, I believe that is how you get it.
I think I know who you're talking about. I wondered why I'd not seen the hood.
2 years late, but this video was very helpful. Keep up the great work.
@@TheBigLT ty
@@TheBigLT Came here to say this. There was a Stonesword key, and a chest with an item up there.
Yup and the grafting room with 2 dogs and the pile of bodies and dead giant hanging above u can get some letter for the spirit tuning lady
Thanks for this, figuring out how to open that door is the whole reason I watched this entire video lol
@@blackrat1228 Yes, Roderika will also move to the hold if you go to Liurnia before you go into the castle
(If you missed him like I did I got a fix)
•Nepheli is also at Stormveil and is also a lore expanding NPC.
You can give the potion to dung eater or that one dude in yellow I think he is another npc
@@AbandonedOnion.. The only people who can take Seluvis's potion are Nepheli and the Dung Eater. And technically Gideon, but he just destroys it.
This is honestly so wonderful to hear, thank you so much, you've made my day!!
7:42 : that dagger (misericode) with crit 140 is one of the best dagger im still using at lvl 170 .
its 140% crit damage i didnt find higher crit weapon yet
crit = back stab or when they stagger
i deals crit 3k damage .
i just need 2 dagger with 2 aow , one to stagger and one to crit .
I love that dagger! Do you use it with any particular Ashes, or just stock?
@@Kholaslittlespot1 why stock when you can have bloodhound step. That this is badass
That's quite hard trick, haven't gotten it done that many times and always died to boss.
If you're having trouble with the crucible knight, you can bait him to the elevator, he'll fall in trying to get to you.
Gostoc sells the single most dangerous equipment in the game: The Buckler. That thing's parry is a menace lmao
Same thing, I just picked up the game, so thank you so much for making this series! Great content!
For the parry gods amongst you, if you leave Gastoc or whatever his name is, alive, you can come back. And he will sell you a few items including the buckler shield which has a larger parry window. Definitely makes the crucible knights easier. Not easy, but slightly easier.
The Carian and Golden Parry Ashes of War have a slightly better window, and can be put on 100% physical block Medium shields instead.
Am I the only one that didn't realize the castle is that big?
Thanks for letting me know how to get down to the basement!
I have finished stormvale and progressed far enough the loot I missed is irrelevant. But I do think your video is absolutely amazing. Your descriptions of places and enemies are perfect and contain a perfect amount of humour. Thank you for this.
The Misercorde is the dagger I'm using right now. It's great for stealthy assassinations.
Haha yes indeed, I found that out a few days after recording this and mention it later in the video!! Good shout my friend!!

I feel like people should mention, if you die enough and don’t follow the story once you kill him he returns all the runes he stole, after days of working in storm castle I learned he stole and I killed him and he returned about 15k runes, so think of him as a savings, just make sure to kill him before doing godrick
17:34 You can creep pas the guy with the horn and backstab him as the other enemies are sleeping.
This has been explained in most dark souls games item description
@@kevinvu5432 Maybe, but not Elden Ring, and I saw it first from a spreadsheet of someone testing the available frames from parrying.
@@Turonaa yes. It's a known secret from Buckler shields give you more parry frames. Check out the dark souls 1 and 3 parry frames guide
@@timboerger2240 sweet I was wondering what hood also. Now I know to come back.👍
@@timboerger2240 I never got the memento, at least not from that location. First time going into that room i just got the hood and rodericka was already at the roundtable.

Ancient dragon smithing stone added to his shop at the end of Nephali.

I knew I was losing runes every death, that rat
damn i dont blame anyone missing a lot of this. its insane how many secret passages there are.
The place you got the crimson hood, now it gives chrysalids momento which is required for roderika’s questline
Part of the fun is going back and exploring. Really like your walk through, Subscibed and working through them. Cheers!
Looking how to get to that high up ledge you’re mentioning as well. Help!
It's crazy how I first raided this castle, then thinking I done explored everything, accidently watched some playthrough going through a place I never been to. Go back again and thoroughly explore at my best. And until I watch your video only to know I still missed 2 places. Its insanely big and packed
I thought I was gonna make it through without missing something. Almost made it but I never found the damn claw talisman 😂
18:07 Above the bird there is a spot you can get to by platforming from the sandbags as well. There is an Item if I remember correctly and you can get a free jump attack on him as well.
Came here to say this. The item is a stonesword key
