    You guys are awesome for doing this! I heard those patches in my In-Ears when we were playing the acoustic piano at the Worship Night. I told Master Brian Fuller that those patches sound awesome! And now we can get them for free? This is really a blessing!!! Thank you so much for that! I always say that you guys are a truly blessing!!! Love you guys and thank you so much for the opportunity that you gave me to be part of this Beautiful Event. BTW, Happy Birthday Master Brian Wahl!!!

    Brian thanks for trying to bring this "setup" to something most churches can afford. From this video Fuller seemed to be caught up in all the additional things that some, but not alot, of churches can buy.

  • @westdccs
    @westdccs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    While I agree that this is a good setup, and as I've been learning more about this type of setup, I can honestly say that I've been using the same keyboard in worship for almost 11 years now without any of this extra stuff. Our church makes use of a Roland Fantom G7 as our main rig -- and there are very few key/synth/pad sounds that I haven't been able to pull together with this keyboard. Now I might mention, when this keyboard was brand new it was easily around $3,500 -- and I still see them out there easily around $2,000.
    Another awesome capability of the keyboard is it's patch remain technology. This means I can create a 8 layer patch (using the 8 faders built into the keyboard) and then swap to another patch quickly while not disturbing the current patch -- so I literally can have hundreds of sounds available.
    However, if I were asked to setup a rig today -- I would probably go this direction. I'm actually trying to get our youth department to go this direction -- because I have 2 Casio keyboards that need to be thrown out a window and retired as they are just terrible in all regards. At least in this setup, I could use them as very basic controllers...

    Even though I'm not really much of a keys player, I love learning more about this stuff! Thanks for the great content. When dabbling in mediocre keys playing, I currently have a Yamaha P125 I was using as a midi controller, but it's too big to really sit on top of a desk and I have it off to the side on a stand. I'm looking to sell it and purchase one I can keep on my desk and use easier with different VST's and not having to go back and forth from the keyboard to the computer to adjust/tweak settings and was debating on the arturia KeyLabs. It looks like the 61 is only semi-weighted and the 88 is fully weighted, so I might go that route for the better feel.
    Appreciate all that you do!

    I'm a guitar player at my church but i would like to see more keys players take charge of their own sound instead of just show up and play the keyboard on the stage and that be "good enough". As a guitar player we are expected to have our own gear and manage our own sound and i take GREAT pride in my sound. But i would like to see that same passion and attention to detail in the other musicians on stage.

    • @benjaminthancock
      @benjaminthancock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Most of our keys players don’t even own a keyboard to practice with at home, let alone use midi in any capacity. Some practice at home with a piano, but playing the right notes and playing the right sounds are two totally different things.

      @@brianmichaelfuller Hey man, we're looking at purchasing a Keylab 88. Can you speak to the transpose feature on it? My understanding is that you have to hold the transpose button and use the piano keys to transpose it up or down...so with that do you have to bring your patch volume down unless you want the note you're using to transpose to play (or when you hold the transpose button do the piano keys mute until you release the button)?

    • @brianmichaelfuller
      @brianmichaelfuller 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steven Shaddox hey man sorry for the delay just saw this! When I use MainStage i transpose the patch itself! No need to do it in the keyboard itself. Another fantastic feature on Mainstage. You can set the transpose of the individual patches. I had a song in Db that I wanted to play in D so I had the patch set at -1. In that case when I switched patches nothing transposed until I started playing so the sustained chords stayed in the original pitch

    • @stevenshaddox
      @stevenshaddox 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Michael Fuller That’s great, thanks for getting back with me on that! We use MainStage as well and have just never used the transpose feature in there...might look at doing that if we don’t love the built in transpose on the Arturia. Appreciate all you guys do, praying you have a great weekend!

    My setup is a very similar in principle, but using Kontact and reaktor running on my PC laptop (yes a PC... and it’s a beast!!) and the native instruments 88 note controller, I also use a UAD Apollo twin to do some tone shaping on the way out and take care of my iem mix coming back. I run about 10 different sounds which I can blend for any given song. I love this setup because of the reliability and performance ability of high quality sounds in a worship context.
    I have a question though, has anyone used gig performer on a pc? I have the demo and so far it seems a great PC/Mac alternative to main stage. Thoughts?
