Thank you for this. I’m a guitar player worship leader and I don’t always know what to tell my keys player to play. And pads can get awfully messy if you don’t know what you’re doing (like me.) This is super helpful. Trying it along with you and it sounds great!
You two not only have a special chemistry when you hold these leader-tutorials, but you also bring forth your gifts and it really blesses others. Your gifts of teaching Your gifts of leading (and ironically one of the most important qualities- developing the next generation of leaders) I look forward to more of these in ‘23
Thank you for the great video. I am just beginning to play keys and this was a good video to listen to. One distraction for me was the constant phrase of "often times" being used. It is redundant grammatically. "Often" is all you need. Thanks for the great video
Thanks for showing the freq. analyzer and the name of the pads.. It helps me to identify where in the frequency should I use with a certain pad. And it helps me also to name my pads.. Because I can design my own pad but don't know what name should I use. If it's bright pad or warm pad or analog pad. And also in the shimmer part. I have create a sound similar to that but doesn't know if it can be categorized as shimmer. Now it's confirmed that it's a shimmer. Thanks a lot!
Question: I am just learning how to do pads by layering sounds using my keyboard. Do you use the sustain at all or just hold the keys down for the best sound? Your tutorials are ver helpful. thank you!
Hey 👋 David and Joy , I love your teaching approach. Using it at our church. So glad I have Sunday keys working phenomenal on my mac. Just loaded the TouchOSC on my iPad Pro and iPhone. Also looking forward to get your nanokey skin in a week. Today trying to figure out if I can use iPad and nanokey at once. God bless
This is an excellent tutorial. Thank you. I have been using the keyboard sounds on console and there’s a lot of them and now starting to create my own layers. I would like to Venture out to use an app on my iPad. Is MainStage app the best place to start ? iPad versus laptop
Hi, if you are planning to use an iPad, we created the Sunday Keys iPad App. It is standalone, so no other software is needed. MainStage in currently only for Mac computers. sundaysounds.com/pages/sunday-keys-app
I’m a drummer and our worship team doesn’t have a keyboardist so I would like to create my own pads and play them through Ableton but like I said I’m a drummer and don’t have much knowledge of keys like what notes to play or should I use a three note cord etc.
Bro!! I'm arranging some worship songs . Your sounds hooked my heart!!! And I'm trying to making some pads through "REASON". Don't you use the "REASON"? If you use it, can you give me some tips or highly recommended sources?
Do you have those presets you were using in the video in Sunday Keys already? If not I'd love to use some of those combo groups you made near the end! (Like dreamy piano build for example)
Good Day sunday sounds thank you so much for this video..... kindly my church will need your help, we wanna build a new system with midi keyboard and pads . kindly tell me what we can buy for 500 people hall church. THANK YOU
MainStage 3 is $30 on the Apple App Store and what we recommend when getting started with software sounds. This video uses patches from the Sunday Keys Template: sundaysounds.com/pages/sunday-keys
Hi Nathan. I just landed here. I have used Korg Module, on my iPad sometimes when I did not want to shlep too much gear. They have an excellent piano/pad sound, too actually. They can also be modified.
You might begin with a keyboard chord chart that lays out all the notes in different chords. There are lots of piano tutorials out there for beginners as well, or perhaps you should look for a local teacher!
Hello, I just researched the keyboard. If there is no pad sound built in you have 3 ways to go: 1. Get a keyboard that has a pad. 2. Connect your keyboard to a computer (midi) and install software that lets you play pads (ex. mainstage.) 3. Use pad loops and play them from another device(like phone or laptop). If you find another way it would be great.
David is using the Sunday Keys Template on top of Mainstage. So if you have a Mac and Mainstage.. you would just need to purchase Sunday Keys from the link David provided.
I always wanted our church to sound like this.

This is amazing, hopefully theres a more intermediate guide to pads, such as layering, and more advanced chord placements! This is incredibly helpful!

Yes you can do 2 or 3 note chords! There are lots of resources online about what notes are in common chords.
So basically, play the intro to U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name"?
Sir.. U did a good lesson to me also.. Thank you

Bring back the euphoria pad:/
There are lots of great pads in Sunday Keys and we have lots of new pads sound libraries available now too! sundaysounds.com/patches
Fyi using mood music to manipulate people's emotions and then equating that with worship is emphatically not worship.
If Kratos played worship pads..
talk a lot so bored
