as a old Londoner, i don,t know if you know that during the ww2 when the houses and streets got bombed they would scoop up all of the debris and dump it on the foreshore to keep the streets clear so you are finding what was in peoples houses hence the toys, coins , pins buttons,bricks, excuse me if you already knew.

i like the history and explanations.aspect a lot . ideas for your upcycling .perhaps use the orphaned pipe stems to make goth skeletons,or spiders legs for a sculpture.

Si is so cool, when anyone wants to do a collaboration.he is always a gental man. This makes me want to go to London and buy a trowel and a permit to mudlark on the Thames! I love all the little finds the most.
This is the art of modern life that is the best . That a good ol boy from way way south of the Mason Dixon line can find himself some new friends in London and we get to see it! I was just watching Nug this morning digging civil war three rings back on the farm! Amazing.

Great finds, mudlarking at the Thames is definatly part of my bucketlist 👌
I wonder whether the "mystery object" that you pulled out of the mud could be the small handle of a clock? When you first held it, it reminded me of the handle on my grandfather's carriage clock which came to my mother when he died... it was gorgeous, looked like a carriage lantern, with brass and beveled glass for the case and the workings all visible...
Then again, it could just be a bit of a buckle...
