Man, Frenchie is so funny. He might be my favorite. It’s really close though, this is a rare show where every actor fucking NAILS their part. There are no weak links in the main cast.

1) The urge to be superior
2) The urge to be loved
And every time he shows up we can't be sure which one is going to win and motivate his actions

Alex, you would absolutely love the show "Supernatural". It was created by the same guy who brought "The Boys" to life. Eric Kripke. He even uses people from Supernatural on The Boys. The secretary of Defense, Robert Singer, is Bobby Singer on Supernatural. Jensen Ackles is in the 3rd season of this show but he was a lead in Supernatural. That show is dark, funny, and builds a giant world that went for 14 or 15 seasons. I think you should eventually dive into that.

Ironically enough, the guy who plays Lamplighter, Shawn Ashmore, also plays Iceman in the X-Men franchise.
He's had both fire manipulation powers, and ice/water powers.
This show reminds my more and more of an old superhero rpg "Guardians", in this game, when you make a character you have to bear in mind that all the power you give him or her you have to compensate with disadvantages. So normally, in that game, the more powerful your character, the more messed up s/he could be.

A psychopath is incapable of love, they only "love" those who are useful to them. Knowing that fact it's no surprise Black Noir is the single person in the entire series Homelander "Trust/Respects". Black Noir always completes every mission successfully and Homelander ever says in season 1, "Not you Black Noir you have been perfect", when speaking about everyone's ability to do a good job on missions and be loyal. Not only does this speak to how awful Homeland is but how skilled Noir is even with his condition. It also shows how obedient Noir is to those in a higher position of power. Even though Noir doesn't speak they find ways to develop his character through his interactions with others, the plot, and the script. Cudos to the Scriptwriters and cast for that.
