That will definitely hold a lot better than those store bought ones. Good point in putting not putting the clasp right on the loop. Keep SHARING your PASSION

I get accused of overbuilding stuff, but to be honest, I build stuff like it was built many years ago. Thanks for watching and for all your support.

I can say that it's a whole lot more solid than what you can buy at the store and lasts a lot longer too.
Thanks for all the support Mark👍

Thanks for the compliment Steve. It can be a pain to work with the stout cable, but it's worth it in the long run.

Question for you. Do you think adding a swivel on it would help with keeping it from twisting and also help prevent strangulation should it twist near the collar? Great video.

Great suggestion. As for a swivel, the snaps both have a swivel built into them. I went the route I did building the cable so the latch can be changed in case the swivel or the snap mechanism were to break over time. Also, it isn't as heavy on the dog's neck and head area. The snap is easily changeable by loosening the attaching link with a couple of wrenches.
After all the years that I have been building these kinds of cables, I have yet to have a cable twist and harm a pet.
The only drawback to using a cable over a chain that I have encountered was that the plastic coating cracks due to wear and the cable will rust out over time. When that happens, the cable will break and you will be back to square one, building a new cable in around 3 years.
I hope that clears up everything. I do apologize if I didn't mention that while I was filming.

I watched to see how to cut it, but sadly you didn't show that part.

I'm so sorry. Normally, I use either bolt cutters, tin snips, or side cutters to cut cable. Sometimes, I have used a grinder with a cutting wheel to cut the cable as well in the past.
If you were going to attempt the task of trimming cable, please be aware of flying strands of cable and wear safety equipment like goggles or glasses.
