The purpose of this video, I think, is NOT to tell you exactly WHAT to use when you make your Dog Cable Run but to give you the knowledge of what is mechanically needed to create a Dog Cable Run. Thanks, Linda O, for keeping this very informative video available.
This is super helpful! We just got a rescue and wanted to give her a safe place to run this Spring in our yard since it's not fenced in. Can't wait to try it. :-)
My mate had a run on his farm that went around corners, it used 2 rock climbing clips or something where the lead attatched to the run but I can't remember how it worked. Been trying to figure it out for years so my dog can protect my house 360 degrees.
This is great information. Neither of my dogs are big jumpers, but they sure do need this exercise. We will need 2 of these that can't intersect, so at least 8 feet apart I would guess. Thank goodness we have the space.
I am working on one of these. I love the idea of the stoppers. I didn’t see the poster or the comments address an obvious potential issue. Put it high enough so that someone walking won’t get clothes-lined. That would be about 7ft off the ground.
nice idea. a pulley with a swivel and a carabiner attached (instead of the iron ring), would save wear and tear on the cable, tho. a retractable leash would also give the dog some extra lateral movement
Thank you very much for this video. It was super helpful! I just finished putting my dog run together. I could not have done it without your help sir. Thanks again!
A dog can not "run" on a six foot cable. My dog has 100 ft of cable to run on. And be sure you put the stops at each end far away enough from the trees you're hooked to so your dog doesn't get wound around the tree. Also, best to put the dog in a harness and never hook up to his collar.
+Bridget A. It depends on what size cable you use. You take the diameter of the cable that you are going to use and then double it. In other words if you are going to use 3/8 inch cable you double that amount and get either 3/4 inch or 1 inch u bolt. Remember if you are using vinyl coating you have to add about an eighth of an inch in diameter for each cable.
im kinda scared to do something like this for my dog....i had one out in my yard and my german Sheppard dixie had to be on one because we dont have fencing....but one day my sister went out riding on the fourwheeler and she watched dixie get excited then jump up and snap her neck...she died instantly :,(

Thankyou, I hope our U bolts are large enough. This is a big help

thank you, this video help me to install a running cable, I really appreciate your time to tech.
Excellent! Just what I need for my big paw babies!

Ok if you don't have a chewer,my dog would be through a retractable lead in a matter of seconds.

Is there anyway to make a cable that bends around a corner and connects to a third post?

"Never saddle a dead horse" always make sure your saddle of the U bolt is on the cable that has the tension on it...not the "dead horse"
If lighting strick's either tree that dog is toast
That voice super reminds Sean Penn in I am Sam.
Does it drag easy on the cable with the ring? Would a nice trolley work better?
I think we will have one of these up with the kennel too!!! :) Thank you for the video...don't delete it just yet, I wanna get the parts :)))
All good, except pully should be used instead of steel ring.
EXACTLY!
I agree and here is why. The ring will wear out the coating on the cable faster than a pulley. That will make the cable rust and then fail
Never put a saddle on a dead horse that is referring to your clamps
Thanks for sharing your idea! How many feet high did you install both ends?
super helpful! thanks!
Nice! What if your dog is over 100lbs and happens to be a ......Cane Corso?
Approximately how much did these items cost?
I need this!
Nice video!!!!
What cuts the cable?
Bolt cutters
Im so new to this - what size u bolt?

It depends on the size of cable you use. This was a 3/8th inch cable, vinyl coated cable.
Number....have a few questions
focus!!!
