I wrote The Hunting Beagle Handbook many years ago now. I put in as many tips as I could think of to start pups. I wish I had known this. Great work and great information starting to run beagles. Thanks.
Only thing that was not done, there should have been a older dog that's running to let loose when they lost the rabbit. These Dogs definitely have that drive and will not take long at all to get running!
Good training and information my brother especially explaining once the rabbit was gone why the girl pup went back to where she first send and smelt it
That's a very good idea but I would have kept working the pups toward were you last seen the rabbit run! Just kept working them up through there where the rabbit went and they probably would have picked up the scent
I use to take pups to a cemetery first thing in morning, rabbit be sitting out in open walk them pup up get a sight chase, but I like your idea better, I'm going to try this thanks for the tip
I absolutely love your videos! Keep up the good work! I just got a new female beagle pup as I’ll be new to hunting. She will be 3 months on Monday. How long should I let her chase a rabbit in the pin and how often when training her??
Just a few times depending on how the pen is setup. If there’s a lot of cover in the pen it will benefit them more, they will learn to use their nose quicker. You don’t won’t to create bad habits so don’t over do the pen get into the woods ASAP. Two or three times a week will do ,if you can the more days the better.
Just wondering if you would be better off doing that one pup at a time. They are distracting each other and chasing each other. Or even better if you had one trained dog to chase the rabbit and show the young ones how its done!

Might try it with my little Branko female pup. She’s only 10 weeks. Few more months.
Nice training video bro
Start mines just like that. Some times they'll kick and run it some takes time. But few times I'll add mines in with older dogs.
I love it.
Great video! Thanks!!
So much for the rabbit running out in the open lol
Great Idea, can’t wait to try it. 😀
Thanks for sharing.

Getting that smell is the main thing I think
Agree 👍
Ok. You covered it later. Nevermind . Thankyou.
What is a good age to start them like this?
You might be able to find a copy on eBay. I'm not sure where else you could get it. Beautiful pups.
Thanks
Is it possible to train one with out the rabbit? Like is there a scent or something I can buy?
Yes there are scents you can get but I don’t use them ,there are so many other ways to train that method would be last on my list.
