I am 55 now and postmenopausal but I had a hell of a time at 45. I went into the doctor with hot flashes and feeling kind of crazy and they blew me off. The doc told me I was too young to have those symptoms. I’ve been living with a lot of craziness over the last 10 years. Thank you for helping me see that I wasn’t crazy just completely unbalanced hormonally the next step is to buy your book . Thank you for being our advocate.

Sadly doctors are clueless when it comes to menopause. 45 is not too early. A lot of women go into perimenopause in their mid-30’s. I was 44. I finished at 52. I’m now 60.

I've been watching a lot of videos that women have been struggling with their weight during perimenopause and menopause. Ever since I've been going to Perry menopause. My weight has been very, very low. So does anybody have any recommendations about low weight and having a problem gaining it? It's very rare for someone to be able to be low weight and not be able to gain weight. I'm struggling with it for sure.

    • @crh251
      @crh251 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@@tabithawardleonard8908, I think perimenopause affects everyone differently. I could not gain any weight before perimenopause. I was extremely thin so I know how you feel. Then menopause changed all that. I do know there are women just like yourself who have problems gaining weight in perimenopause. Keep searching. It all is very hormonal.

@@crh251Thank you so much for that advice and sharing that. With me it's nice to know that other women out there have the same problem. I have had a high metabolism for a long time. But now trying to get the weight on so that I can get estrogen into my body naturally is really hard. I'm like everybody else. And I'm not hungry all day long. But I have to force myself to eat sometimes.

GOD BLESS you! I'm 73, 20 years post. There has NEVER been an advocating doctor, male or female, who addressed our women issues. I wish this information had been available during my years of HELL. I was repeatedly told it was in my head. My husband declared me insane & cold. When on HRT it helped. But there was not enough information to know what was going on.

I'm 53 and started having heart issues because of my weight. Fell into that "eat carbs - gain weight" trap and totally cut out carbs, which made my health worse. My kids gifted me the aspect health sensor, and I've been tracking my health there. The strain on my heart has decreased and I've dropped 4 lbs🙏🙏

I'm 53 & have always been fit/active, I've done intermittent fasting naturally (at least 12hrs) all my life & have been the same size since high-school. During perimenopause I noticed my body fat seemed up a tiny bit (figured I needed to get back to strength training). 1 year into menopause I noticed a definite layer of FAT (tummy/torso). I've never had fat across my ribcage WTF??? My weight/size was the same but body composition was definitely different!!! I had been taking DIM & an phytoestrogen capsule - I FELT great(no hotflashes), like my hormones must be balanced.
THANKS to your info- I decided to do HRT (not wait until I feel like I need it). My doc said I was pretty balanced, estrogen was low on the edge of the normal range.
After 2 full months on .05 estrogen & 100mg progesterone- my excess fat has MELTED OFF!!! I changed literally nothing so I know it was 100% hormone related!!! I am getting back to strength training asap 💪 ❤
I've always slept well but I do sleep way deeper now!! THANK YOU Dr.Haver❤❤❤❤

I have been using cronometer food tracker for almost 3 years and it's a game changer at showing me my macro and micro nutrients break down. I focus on my calories, my protein intake and fiber intake. I'm 40 years old and my average fiber intake with most days is 50-65g of fiber...some days I get up to 75g of fiber 🙌 and I have never been more regular than I am right now. Colon cancer is high in my family and I'm not going to be another statistic with it....
I follow an 80/20 rule approach with 80% whole clean foods and 20% "fun" foods or treats....and since tracking my macros over the last 3 years I have lost 35 pounds....slow and steady wins the race. I need to have my visceral fat levels checked but that waist to hip ratio is a good starting point.

I wish you would read THE BIG FAT SURPRISE & the Great Cholesterol Myth and stop recommending lean meat.
Our healthy ancestors - my great grandparents and older - cooked in lard and prized fat and fatty organs above all other foods.
We can agree to disagree on the importance of so much fiber, but the jury is in on fat. It is SO necessary for women.

QQ: I am 61 years old…, everything you talk about is/was happening to me. At one point, I was sent to a RA Doc who said I had RA and needed to get on methotrexate, I was 51 yrs old. I REFUSED not believing that was my problem. I educated myself (wish you were around). I changed my diet, took Bromelain and turmeric to get rid of the inflammation. I ate lean (still do). 10 years later, I have no pain, no RA. My biggest problem now. I gained 40 lbs and CAN NOT lose a lb. I gained it fast and it’s STUCK, :(.
    HELP.
    Will HRT help me?!?
WHY was this NEVER suggested to me??
I was always Lean and Mean with a hard core…. had a four-pack, LOL, now I am Fat and Pudgy. I know it’s NOT heathy, I hate it!!!!
I just want to be in balance. If I am depleted in something…, let’s fix it.
Thanks for your book and your TH-cam.

I’ve heard that sprinting exercise is the best whole body engagement for burning visceral fat and replace muscle in our entire body by sprinting, intense cycling or intense swimming. We had discussed before blood work that options were progesterone cream if needed and for any type of estrogdal that I wanted to patch I did not want to do anything orally. Supposably my one ovary is still working post hysterectomy 11 years. Her suggestion was to put me on birth control and just start it during my cycle. I can't believe she is saying this she's the one who did my surgery and I have not had a cycle for 11 years and she wants to put me on birth control I am not very happy at all. Waiting for the office to mail me my test results and then I'm actually thinking about going to a different doctor and see what they say.

I have a question about the waist to hip ratio:- does this still work for a person that’s very long waisted? I have short legs and a very long torso, so have always been able to carry weight easily without it showing too much ….So even if my waist to hip ratio is within safe range, I’m still concerned as I do have belly fat that jiggles on my abdomen since perimenopause no matter how much I work out and eat healthy.

Hi, love your videos! I'm 50 and Peri. Had partial hysterectomy but have ovaries that are still functioning. I'm on Estradiol patch, no progesterone due to not having a uterus and on a small amount of Testosterone gel. I'm heavier than ever but I know there are some things I need to adjust re food & exercise. I think my Estradiol patch might be too high dose since not menopausal yet so might get that lowered but my question is the Testosterone. I know you're leary of Testosterone from some of your videos. Im just curious if you yourself take any Testosterone or do you ever prescribe it to your patients? Trying to figure out if I should stay on it? Thanks for your time!

What about females who are not inclined towards large butts and hips? Basically built more like a man with a rack?
