For taming otters, if you don't want to chase them in the water and have access to honey, you throw honey down on the bank near where an otter spawns and it will come to you. Just be ready with your golden fish.

Dimorphodon works great even in your shoulder, if you put them in neutral and a big dino is attacking you, when the hitbox collides with you the Dimo will attack, and if you breed and imprint them, they do pack a punch. Also they are great for caves, I use 4, 2 females and 2 males. the swamp cave is now a easy run, they kill meganeuras in mass, the only threat that remains are the arthroplueras breaking your armor(gas mask), besides that, it turns to a easy cave. don't recommend to have many dimos, although they fly and don't get stuck to much, if you bring to many into a cave you can pass a tremendous amount of time watching over them, trying not to left someone behind, in annoying, that's why I only recommend 4-6, if they are breeded and imprinted they will survive with no issues.

At lower levels I love the Icthyornis not only for taming which is the best, but I also needed to raid a beaver dam in the hidden lake but there were Piranhas and I only had my pteranodon with me. So I just had it scope all of them up for me. Makes my life so much easier.

You forgot about the Jerboa. ;-) It's not just on SE now, Ragnarok has them too! Great info, as always, though!!
I plan on doing a video like this for all of the maps, this one was the island so no jerboas. I can never forget those guys=)

all the pick pocketers i met, loved the tintos (red berries), and did auto tame. plus compys and raptors + otters hate me since they always are hiding and/or compys don't like to be tamed by me XD
When your thyla killed the first Icthy you were trying to tame I laughed, but when your thyla killed the dimo you were trying to tame I was cracking up. LOL

Does mesos unlock tek pinned doors or normal pinned doors with a electronic lock ? Cause its kinda too op if they do
as a new player, i hit over lvl 100, 2 days ago roughly, have around 30 tamed dinos (mostly one of each sex), and have never seen a neon colored dino, why is this?? as well i actually got my eggs to be fertile, but they fully develop before i can imprint or w/e, what am i doing wrong boss?

Just catching up on my backlog of watching your series Phlinger...Awesome series dude! Sorry for the late comment on this... I watch a few different TH-camrs doing ARK & when you see one of them doing the Ascension Cave with just an Archeopteryx so as not to loose a whole pack of good dinos... Then you find new respect for this little "head pooper"!

how does pegomastax and microraptor helps you? you didn't mentioned..
they're more pvp oriented. you can throw a pegomastax at other players and steal their stuff, and microraptor can of course knock other players off their dinos.
edit: microraptors are also crazy stupid fast, and can be sent to kill PvE enemies that like to run away... but their damage is pretty bad, around 1/3 of a dimorphodon. apparently they also like to harvest meat while they're on your shoulder, but that's pretty minor.
edit once more: also, when he says that rare flowers are best for taming microraptor, he really means it; typically one flower will instantly tame any microraptor afaict. that can make them extremely quick to tame, whereas others you may need to guard for an extended period of time.

very late comment but just in case you somehow haven't figured it out yet it's a whistle which you can set in the setting menu.

Hesperonis is so useless. More so than the compy just because the compy you already expect it to be useless when you first see it and just tame it for giggles, but the Hesperonis you tame it because you're drawn to the prospect of the golden egg, you want that golden egg to make the best kibble, and just like the story about the greedy farmer and the golden goose, you'll do anything for those golden eggs, you'll bare waiting more than an hour taming a low level one even with boosted server, because they'll give you the golden eggs. Then after you tame it, you'll immediately take it out to the river and waste hours of your life watching these guys kill fish and give you normal eggs, but you'll still waste those hours and at the end you'll have one or two golden eggs, then you ask yourself, is this it? Was all this worth it? Then you go out and tame a couple Yuti to make extraordinary kibble and forget all about your useless golden goose.
But now being serious, it's not much of a debate, the best ones are only the Ichyornis and otter for different reasons. One to help taming and another for insulation and help with egg hatching. In ark there are a lot of dinos and mechanics that are pvp oriented or tribe play, the monkey, pegumastax, microraptor, etc are for pvp they barely have any use whatsoever in singleplayer.
I mean tame like 20 pegumastax 20 Ichyornis and some microraptors, now take them with you and camp outside someone base or drop locations and stay hidden waiting for a well equipped player, then send the pegus to steal their stuff, as the plyer is focused on the pegus, send the ichyornis, then send the microraptors to stun the player and flee from the scene with your dinos, and to finish it off go flex on your tribe mates about your new hard earned stuff.

Ark dedcided that flak pants sit lower on the male models, and not the female ones. Another reason to love Ark, it panders to the female audience - instead of the male audience. Wildcard is a piece of work, but I love them. 😂
