Sino should definitely be on the list. Without the ark taming tracker they would be TERRIBLE to tame, but they have a huge amount of pvp and pve utility.
Note that the light pets differ with their charge ability, shinehorn being the most balanced, glowtail recover the fastest, featherlight having the biggest range and bulbdog the biggest charge capacity :)

Fact that not many people know: when hit by poop from the monkey, you cannot heal. This can be helpful in ground PVP scenarios by preventing the use of med brews.
One of my few fun Scorched Earth memories is this one time when I was raiding a small 4x4 metal base without torrets on it's outside. As soon as I c4'ed a door I was instantly killed by about 20 angry vultures that apparently had all their levels on melee. As soon as I came back they were still aggroing to me, maybe they were in aggressive, but it was funny as hell seeing this huge mass of vultures going ape shit on me lol

Dimorphs are my choice, even one of them saved my arse many times in the early game and now i use flock of them as traveling protection for myself and my quetz. They even saved me from a yuty and its pack once. Basically dilos, but better.
Still a little disappointed that the Jerboa only got an honorable mention. They are absolutely crucial on Scorched Earth for warning you about inclement weather.

i like the ichtyornis the most the ability to get prime meat and fish in almost any situation can be worth a lit if u spontaniously find a dino ud like to tame
For a new dino vote, that yi-qi or whatever gets my vote. A new shoulder pet would be cool. And if it would have the ability to get items from the loot drops for u, be pretty rad.
The otter definetly deserves number one, i was grabbed by a kapro in the gen 1 bog and it immedietly killed it with its 2k% atk that ive got fairly easely on standard single player settings as well as 500+ hp, you should have a bary to get the raw fish meat if you want more than one lest a whole 4 mammal squad. This is on top of them letting you explore gen 1's arctic in metal(although ive got some seriously pumped fortitude being 66 aa well as settings to make it easier to pump fort)
Could you do a video on the shine horn and its ability to detect high level dinos? I've scoured the web to identify how to make this work but nothing seems to have a tutorial on it. Thx :-)
Obviously the shinehorn is in one of the most hostile and dangerous areas because it’s so cute! If you know "the fables" which u obviously do if u had gone to school You would know the wolf and the lamb the lamb 🐑 is always in dangerous areas and can’t live for long Which inspired ark into doing the same for the ovis and the shine horn (even tho the shine horn probably isn’t a sheep but a goat but looks like a lamb)
Could you to a top ten on maps for farming element? the stuff is difficult to transfer, so having an easy source of element is always important late game

You can scoop otters out of the water with an Argentavis's C attack, and then hold them in place while you feed them fish, which makes taming them a breeze.

Love Dimorphs, love how they swarm around enemies. I also like noglins. I have a bunch of brontos spawning outside my base so it's pretty nice being able to throw them off and collect berries without having to worry about my own bronto getting attacked. I also love sinos. I mean flying backpacks. Plus startling small dinos. What's not to love?
i think you might have worded the vulture one a bit wrong, you mention that "meat spoils at 4 times the rate, offering a quick route to narc should you need it" it infact does the opposite and increases the spoil timer 4 times, essentially giving you a portable fridge, especially useful for mutton when out on a taming spree.
Literally one minute in, but isn't the vulture's special ability the quadruple spoil time so things spoil *slower*, not faster? It has to harvest them itself since you can't put anything but spoiled meat in its inventory but they can harvest a corpse normally. I remember using that to make the most of prime meat on SE. Was that changed? The dossier even mentions slower spoil times. ETA: great video overall, just confused lol
Additional use of number 7 Mesopithicus is that it can equip a HAT... this is a pretty big deal, actually, as you can give your shoulder mounted poo flinging turret ARMOR value much akin to a saddle, except mine uses a 205 armor helmet that doubles as a flashlight that is ABSOLUTELY broken, as it does not lose its charge on the monkeys head! that's right, on the monkeys head, the helmet does not gradually lose durability as it does on a players head. (the Otter can also use these helmets, however, it does gradually lose a charge)
Rant time! Some of the otters abilities aren’t as useful as people say they are. The pearl ability has a very low yield and is only useful for early game. You know, the part of the game where you don’t need pearls. It’s artifact caving ability would be great for farming element, except that boss running isn’t a good way of getting it anyways. Half the maps have other ways of farming element that are more effective. As for the insulation ability, I can’t deny that it’s good for cold parts of the map (better than ferox for insulation) but not worth it for incubating. Air cons are easier to get than finding and getting a few of these on most maps.
Not everyone likes to get element the cheaty way though. I personally prefer doing the guardians for element. While it is more efficient to mine it on Genesis or to do the veins on Extinction, you don't need efficiency when you can take your time and have fun fighting bosses on singleplayer and pve.

Even the insulation part is not relevant since med brews fix that. The only time I use otters on clusters is for the overseer fight, so I don't have to worry about landing on that hanging spike to heal.
And with a recent update and recently newish custom map the Lost Island for another shoulder pet… The Sinomacrops! The absolute best shoulder pet for doing more damaged against all bug type creatures. For its food preference is chitin but fear not for it can gather chitin from the bugs it kills. With its tiny roars to scare off and do small damage to small wild Dino’s after getting fear roared but instant K.O kill to small bugs. Sinomacrop is the most powerful against the Broodmother from the Green Obelisk. Deathworms in Scorched Earth, Ragnarok and Lost Island. Along with the Ice Queen Deathworm in Ragnarok to make it the easiest loot farm or even bug farms for chitin.
Bulldog are nice but really to high i think it's just more accessible than other light pet for me a true top can be 1. Otter for the reason you talk 2. Sinomacrops (it's new but just so OP) for is capacity to carrying you and good substiture to glider 3. Ferox it's good to have a brutal mount on shoulder (and it's a cute little one) 4. One of the quator light pet but the Featherlight are for me the most usefull and cute thing (maybe one Shinehorn for my farm =3 ) 5. Dimorphodon stay a good friend and the more easiest to get and stay strong in a swarm
Otter baby! Doesn't it do a passive attack from your shoulder when in melee range too? It truly is meta and should be everyone's first tame. The insulation is a life saver and saves you levels in fortitude. The mammal style breeding makes it easy to make a bunch and incubate anything. You can start serious breeding at any level as long as you can get your hands on the eggs. As soon as you unlock tranq arrows you can make an army of theris or argys or anything you can manage to bring down. Truly a must tame in every playthrough.
I wouldn’t qualify it as a first tame..it can be a little tricky finding them and when you do taming isn’t super easy and it may get killed or swim away. But 100% one of those tames you tame up as soon as you come across it
@@PoochMG I think the personal insulation is the main reason. With a strong otter with high melee you can go just about anywhere without worrying about temperatures. Artifact running is good, but if I had to choose between an artifact pet and an insulation pet of the otter's tier I'd take the latter!
Only one way to make these kinds of vids better. Include the admin command for each Dino when you name them. Other than that, done well. Good editing, detailed information told with a voice tone that shows genuine interest, and a decent line up. I'm on number 2 as of now, and if the otter isn't number 1 I'll see you in my next comment...
I'd like to say I voted otter because of the artifact carrying and insulation, and y'know, that kinda influenced it. But really...look at em. (Though I gotta admit I audibly gasped the first time I saw shinehorns running.)

The mesopithecus is by far my favorite. The slowing down effect is so useful against open world bosses or alphas

Use the netgun on the ferox when it transforms and you dont have to run or grapple

Dimorphs are great for caves with bats in them. Buff it in melee damage and it'll sit on your shoulder killing bats as they fly around your head.

I think it depends on the map, the jerboa would be at least top 3 on scorched earth.
They are pretty useful for scorched earth not much else but are cute
Bulldog are nice but really to high i think it's just more accessible than other light pet for me a true top can be
1. Otter for the reason you talk
2. Sinomacrops (it's new but just so OP) for is capacity to carrying you and good substiture to glider
3. Ferox it's good to have a brutal mount on shoulder (and it's a cute little one)
4. One of the quator light pet but the Featherlight are for me the most usefull and cute thing (maybe one Shinehorn for my farm =3 )
5. Dimorphodon stay a good friend and the more easiest to get and stay strong in a swarm
Otter baby! Doesn't it do a passive attack from your shoulder when in melee range too? It truly is meta and should be everyone's first tame. The insulation is a life saver and saves you levels in fortitude. The mammal style breeding makes it easy to make a bunch and incubate anything. You can start serious breeding at any level as long as you can get your hands on the eggs. As soon as you unlock tranq arrows you can make an army of theris or argys or anything you can manage to bring down. Truly a must tame in every playthrough.
Like its artifact ability alone makes it top 3. With all the rest of its abilities the lil fluffer is the undisputed champ.
I wouldn’t qualify it as a first tame..it can be a little tricky finding them and when you do taming isn’t super easy and it may get killed or swim away. But 100% one of those tames you tame up as soon as you come across it
@@PoochMG I think the personal insulation is the main reason. With a strong otter with high melee you can go just about anywhere without worrying about temperatures. Artifact running is good, but if I had to choose between an artifact pet and an insulation pet of the otter's tier I'd take the latter!
Only one way to make these kinds of vids better. Include the admin command for each Dino when you name them. Other than that, done well. Good editing, detailed information told with a voice tone that shows genuine interest, and a decent line up.

Ferox and noglin are the kings of pvp shoulder pets otter is the king of pve
I like noglin for pve because that mind control is so fun

@@Shanepex i mean yeah the noglin is king of messing around especially messing around with wild gigas as they are so much more powerful and then the satisfaction of them just getting evaporated but instead number one is the very over rated otter while yes it's good for artifacts and insulation the rest are kinda useless
