    Just an FYI: you're the most/first recommended SC CC for pilot tips for both beginners and experienced pilots. Largely due to content quality but an important facet is your personality and disposition. Keep it up man ty for good videos.

    Quite dangerous to get close to, it just puts up a wall of bullets. But once you are behind it, it's just a heavy fighter without turret. It can extend well tho.

    this is fun to watch. I also saw another pilot who used the Mirai Fury to take out several F8C's to demonstrate that the heavy fighter wasn't invincible. Thank you for sharing, and great job on that 2on1 scenario

      Don't spread that around. All of the "the lightning is broken, it's the new meta!" Types can't keep their claims up if they see a Fury win.

      I’m amazed. Not only can the Fury basically not take any hits at all, the fact that it’s even possible to defeat several Lightnings before running out of fuel in a Fury is an incredible feat in and of itself.

      @@jonathanrich9281 "not take any hits at all" is a two edged sword. She's small and nimble and hard to hit but at the same time, she's small and nimble and if she does get hit, that's it. Might be me, but successfully piloting a ship like this reflects well on a pilot's skill level probably more than any other ship in the 'verse. My situational awareness isn't on that level yet, but I admire those who can drop the big dogs with this wonderful little ship.

    That was nice. My personal loadout for the f8c is comprised of repeaters on the four main but on the secondary trigger I have 4 Gatlings. I get that this means more reloads but it also means far less strain on the capacitor meaning over 60 shots until I need to recharge. My pc is too dated for pvp though so I’ll differ to those with experience. For the missiles I have rattlers but, again, that’s just for the fun of watching the clusters.

    I don't mind the combat capabilities of the thing, but that top speed has got to get nerfed. The problem with the F8 is not only is it great at everything, but if the pilot starts losing the fight, they can just leave. But if YOU start losing the fight, he can chase you down and you die. Hence the F8 can make all the mistakes and the slower ship can't make any.

    It is the ultimate solo player ship, but a heavy fighter with a player in a turret is a threat to it.

      Broadly speaking, once its shields are properly set to halved front/back shields, and even now, it's actually fairly vulnerable to getting ganged up on.
      Technically speaking, it's better to approach a ship with a manned turret as two different ships. Yes, both of them are in the same spot and share health, but you have to approach them the same way.
      The ship works best in a squad or 1v1 where it doesn't have to worry about keeping an enemy squad separated.

    I prefer lag pip for all, but solid video. Also another thing i notice the F8 Has a huge EM signature, there are missiles that effectively take out the F8 but i shall not announce them. But for those who know, yes they are the same missiles as always.

    Hey im not sure if you take requests, but id love to get a video on heavy fighter combat maneuvering.
    Largely because i want to make my ares seem slightly less pathetic against light fighters, but also because i want to be good in a hurricane or scorpius as well.
    I know this video is technically a heavy fighter strategy video, but this thing is more maneuverable than any other heavy in the game, so it doesnt work around those weaknesses in nearly the same way

    I was talking in the verse about the f8c, and someone got really spicey when I said that on paper, the f8c is the best statistical single seat fighter in the game right now.
    He said no, it loses to turn fights. I said, that's more of a skill things cuz when the pilots are equally skilled (as you should always assume when comparing two different ships, especially from different classes) the f8c has more going for it than other small, solo fighter's and will win more engagements when flown properly.
    It's something I've noticed in the SC community. People watch a TH-cam video showcasing an aspect of the game or a ship in it and make broad assumptions on it.
    The f8c isn't invincible, but it's extremely threatening, and the paper stats easily put it above other ships like a gladius or arrow. In order to close the gap with these ships, you HAVE to be a better pilot. This video proves it, that the pilot is the ultimate decider in a match-up.
    The f8c when flown right easily dominated the light fighter's but the light fighter's had to out fly and outsmart the f8c to win the fight. The difference was very visible in the ttk between the match ups, and it's fairly obvious that it's not just about ship health.
    The f8c is a dominant force in matches with medium and small ships. This IS intended; the ship was literally designed to combat the vanduuls far faster and more lethal (lore wise, the replication ships aren't that great) ships.

    I am largely a complete noob when it comes to PvP, so perhaps my thougths are irrelevant :P
    However, the fact that there is no gunner, I think the top speed being high is a good thing. And again, this is supposed to be the superiority fighter. It is a newer generation than the arrow.
    I am so glad that a well flown arrow still beats the F8C, that to me says it is far more balanced than the initial knee jerk reaction from the community implied.
    I am hoping for no nerfs (aside from the bug fixes), but fully expect balancing and refinement to come in with mastermodes and armor

    I wonder how the tactics will evolve once master modes becomes available, a superior ship will be one that is able to quickly point its nose against a target at relatively the same speed since CIG is doing away with being able to run away from a fight. 🤔

      Master modes will make most high speed jousters cry. In JW's video, when he was in Gladius figthing that F8, the opponent jousted frequently at high speed, rinse and repeat. These people will get a slap of reality in MM and with either be forced to learn, or quit.

    *LET YOUR LASERS RECHARGE MAN*
    In these clips, you charge your laser weapons to roughly 20% and dump them. Each time you do this you are giving yourself a 2/2.5 second CD timer when they reach zero. To fire one full charge this way, you need to do that cooldown five times... that's 10 seconds during a fight that you cannot return fire at all and your opponent is recharging their shields and negating anything you did to them prior to running out of ammo.
    Returning fire when your lasers aren't nearly 100% ready is 'panic-shooting'. Let the guns recharge to full, and fire until they are empty (unless their shields are completely down and you know you can finish them off with what you have ready. Most of the kills I get against players are by feinting running away, letting them spend their magazine, doing a 180 and facing them with 100% charged laser weapons and 100% charged frontal shields against their max shields and empty weapons. They have to swap power to shields to survive one dump and then they are stuck with zero ammo whilst you are now engaging them.

    The biggest problem I had against an arrow were the damn missiles. They forced me to waste time on maneuvering away trying to shake them - which ultimately didnt work even with evasive maneuvers and chaff/flares and in the end multiple missiles hit me and took away all my guns.

    Two questions: 1) -What game settings regarding pip and esp can you recommend? I feel if I use lag, my pip dances and snaps unpredictably.- (EDIT: Never mind the first question, you have a video on that!) 2) Is there a real benefit using all S2 weapons, as you could have one pair of S3’s?       You get more rounds on smaller size but less rounds on larger guns. I prefer larger weapon, I want every hit to do as much damage as possible.

    This looks super impressive. How much is CIG going to change the flight models? Do you have an idea? I have heard many people say many different things. Seeing as this is in atmosphere, I find it hard to believe that you can do half of that if the in atmosphere model was accurate. I play mostly IL2 which is a combat flight sim so this type of flying makes very little sense to me.

      The SC flight model is pretty poor and low skill. Basically both parties need to have a gentlemens agreement to circle strafe face melt each other.
      Most fights in the verse are joists. If either pilot wants to joust. It's a joust. Thats ok. But the lack of reasonable lockdown means most dogfights are a consensual agreement to epeen.
      The flight model is mainly driver by the nose or mouse. It's arcadey. Just focus on aim. Once your partner agrees to dance, that's all it is really.
      Hopefully MM changes this, but so far it's much more arcadey.

    When using the circle strafe in a light fighter, you show that the shots miss at ranges greater than approximately 800m, which I assume is due to the speed of the projectile. Is this because the opponent is using lead pip, which when centred on cannot accurately lead at such 800m+ ranges, since it is calculated from a ships arbitrary centre? And would that mean that with the lag pip which shows a firing solution relative to one's own ship, you could actually hit those shots from that range?

      The more range and speed the more Linley it is to miss. Lag or Lead pip have no effect. You can lead it a bit to help but still very hard to hit.

    This doesn't have to do with the video per se, but I had to ask here anyways since I'd assume you would know. Is there anyway to get my mouse to work the same as your cursor does in the game? I'm going to wager you're using a HOTAS setup, as in a flight stick and such, correct? But is there anyway to get the mouse to act the same way?
    IE. Whenever I move in game, I have to kinda pull my cursor in a direction across the screen to go that way. But your cursor is locked down to the center of the screen at all times and any change in movement is instant. Can I do this with mouse?

My question is, how are people going to adjust to the slower combat speeds when Master Modes is fully implemented. Without the Speed Limiter being turned off, or is this already addressed and I missed it? Just a question so I can learn.

      Acceleration rate is real key component, and ships will still accelerate fast. The slower top speeds just decreases the reactionary gap of combat.

    F8’s are very fun to rotate them, get behind them and there’s nothing they can do from there.
    Of course a super skilled pilot is not going to let you do that and just create distance but there are always opportunities to outplay the F8 when you’re in a light fighter.
    Just need to be strict with boost management and you have way less margin for error

    Watching this really makes me wonder how much they really need to change about this ship. They obviously need to fix the bubble shield, but Im not sure what else. I was thinking acceleration, but watching this, Im not sure it matters.

      What do you think Master mode would do to light fighters? Since they're slowing down combat, do you think a lot of the smaller fighters would suffer from it? at that point why would anyone want to use them instead of the bigger "better" ships than can tank damage. @@JohnathanWinters

      I think it will just increase the amount of ships we see on the field. That said light fighters will still dominate imo. The real factor is acceleration rate, not top speed.@@unloyal4847

    Why do some ships only have front and back shields? I'm coming back to play after a while and I initially thought it was just some kind of bug.

      It's because of the shield size, S1 is bubble (no faces), S2 has 2 faces and S3 has 4. The F8C is weird in that it was supposed to have 4 S1 shields but got changed to 2 S2 last minute, so they didn't replace the bubble with the 2 face version, but it's confirmed they will.

      Still possible, just pip nuet is when the pip is inline with your crosshair.

    I think maintaining a higher speed is the Lightning's best feature. I mean yeah, it's a great overall fighter, but that top speed when I need to big out... Perfect.

      @@oldman1111 Its my understanding that all ships are balanced, therefore essentially each component must have a points value. The lightning breaks the mould. So are they simply not applying this anymore?
      I think its disgusting that, considering the game isn't even released as fully functioning (PU), that they are tossing out ships that that don't follow the maths for balance.
      I bought a super hornet in 2014... Why would I want that now? And come release, what will be the power dynamic? Theres no point in buying ships, ever.

      @@FIREFORCE-cc8hk where are you getting the idea that this is not applying anymore?
      The Lightning had some last minute changes to things like getting 2xS2 instead of 4xS1s, so it was left having the bubble style shielding from the S1 days. It is about to be fixed (per dev response) to be the shield facing style from other 2xS2.
      There is still probably some points value system they are using but it's not like some big conspiracy "CIG is now the devil" type stuff other people bring up.

      Trying to do battle royale is hard when trying to improve. I am terrible at flying. I can take on pve bounties but other players that circle strafe. I do t understand how to quickly turn I’m on mnk

    Melted mine, its not that exciting to fly or use, it does smack of being kinda dated. Yet if you melt, you cant just BuyBack, so says CIG. It was an interesting sale though. Still have 3 Gold Tickets.

      Afaik you can melt it and it will be available in buyback. Didn’t test this myself, but I’ve heard ppl saying this. On another note, as of today (ish) Golden tickets don’t work anymore (as CIG intended and communicated). I also see the F8C now in my pledge store (concierge marked) to be able to buy with store credit ($300 - 6 month insurance) or warbond ($260 - LTI). So I’m not sure if this is concierge only (possible/likely). I did check if I could upgrade from another ship, preferably one with LTI, but this is not possible atm. Hope this helps. Cheers, o7

    Awesome video. I do think the F8C should have system advantages though as it is a next-gen heavy fighter, that is quite limited in availability. In saying that, I understand the desire for balance. But, I feel that Star Citizen needs less balance as there is a heavy natural skill proponent to the game in using the associated systems etc. Sure good pilots should engage and fight the F8C while someone in a Mustang Alpha should probably quantum away, if they can't, unlucky. It is part of what makes SC Serendipitous and allows people to earn character reputations in the verse.

    Im glad this type of gameplay wont work anymore, when the new athmospheric flight comes in. no hovering and no strafing anymore.

    In my opinion one S2 should be taken away.
    Then you would have a heavy fighter that is a superior brawler when it comes to other heavy fighters and can heavily cut into ships like freelancers or shut down Ares threats.
    However it can't really fight light fighters due to its lack of maneuverability and not having a turret.
    A weakness the hawk and Scorpius don't have thanks to their copilot which makes them a nightmare for light fighter pilots.
    I like the overall spot within the rock, paper, scissors concept.

    Gladius vs. F8C in a real fight in the SC verse. Gladius manges to shoot down that rediulous shilds. F8C goes full speed, reloads shields and is back in the fight. If the F8C pilot keeps up that tactic he cant lose.
    Best part. The F8C is so fast it can just back strafe and you have zero chance to fight it with your Arrow or Gladius.
    Ofc. a AC fight 1vs.1 can show which fighter is more agile. But that is irrelevant in the verse when 4 Gladius fighting 4 F8Cs. The F8C is just to overpowered at charisteristics it needs in the verse. Shields, firepower, speed. You even can equip it with the fastet QT drive possible with no real consequences.
    In the end the F8C is a real bad FOMO catch. I curious how they want to balance the F8C.

    This ship has too many weapons. I wonder how and if they are gonna ballance it somehow, like prone to overheating with consequence of malfanctioning fuses or relays etc. I have that some ships are BETTER than others, it should have pros and cons.

      The glaive has always been and option and those size 5s can quickly end newbies in a starter ship.
      Believe me, the lightning didn't add to or change the issue here.

      @@schlagzahne6741 When an average player uses an OP ship it makes him maybe a bit better but doesnt make him OP. The real problem starts when good players use OP ships.
      The F8C was designed to be OP to get whales to spend even more money. Before it was p2w but to rare to be a real problem.
      CIG needs to balance the ship against the other heavy fighters. It would be ok to have an advantage over the other heavy fighters but it has to be downsides to be balanced. Imho it should only have one S2 shield.

    Rule number one in SC no matter what all the pilot wannabees tell you, is gimbals > fixed.
    A skilled gimbal pilot who understands the dynamics, trajectory and engagement angles for a fixed pilot is going to DOMINATE every time no matter then ship.
    It is the same reason that no players want to use the Vanguard and how it loss its potential.
