I think Garnet’s perception is just another version of propaganda. Rose had to tell all of her new soldiers about Pink from her perspective.
I think Steven is basically keeping his own thoughts to himself, he doesn’t want to tell the gems about his findings. Steven is realizing how powerful his words can be : from that list of six people bringing an attack on beach city, he is now not okay with telling anyone information unless he thinks it is needed.

I'm pretty convinced that Rose is actually Pink Diamond, and faked her own death. They're the same size, have the same lips, and Stevonnie's dream in Jungle Moon was a memory from Pink Diamond (Rose) combined with memories from Connie. This accounts for all the discrepancies, as all the gems are misinformed. I wonder if anyone agrees with me?
that would explain why steven cries along when blue cries.if pink was sort of "inside" steven and sees her "sister" cry about her death of course she'd get sad too.the only weird thing about it is.. does that mean there was ever a rose quarz to begin with and how would pink have changed her diamond into a quarz.even when they shapeshift their gem never changes shape or size,not even when they fuse(aka basically shapeshift together into one)

At that point it'd make sense why Rose/Pink Diamond would want to turn into a human/Steven if somehow her gem was under strain or she couldn't maintain her form for much longer. The only bit that wouldn't make sense is the cutting of her gem tbh.

I definitely think that Pink did NOT call in for help from Blue and Yellow. More likely she tried to hide how her colony was turning against her, and when they found out, took control of the situation from her, maybe even dismantling Pink's court. Pink didn't like how she was powerless again and tried to fix it by herself, and ended up getting shattered.

I agree. She was very adamant on having her own colony to control. I don’t believe she would beg for their assistance when we know she wanted this for herself. With her naïveté, she probably didn’t even comprehend the gravity of the whole situation until it was too late.
maybe pink also became sympathetic. she and rose could have planned it and where everyone thought she was shattered, nobody but rose and bismuth knew about the sword so they are theonly ones who know pink merely poofed. that could be her in the bubble cave in the temple. the other thing that kinda points to that is that Steven had the vision where pink shatters herself in the mirror foreshadowing that pink would end up giving herself to allow rose to save earth and rose in turn to keep it an absolute secret was compelled to also give herself up to be steven even leaving pearl and Greg behind

Another thing I noticed is that in the flashback,Pinks palquin was decorated with diamonds which we know isn't true.The metal has been shaped like flowers in the palquin she came out of when she was dhattered.

Yes, she got timelines confused. That has nothing to do with her memory. Everything she was told that she wasn’t present for was told by Rose. If what garnet is saying is wrong, it’s because Rose lied to her.

I believe that the only reason pink would say stuff like that is because its he first colony, she wants to prove to her fellow diamonds (mostly yellow) that she could handle it. So that's why I believe that that part could be accurate or at least close enough.

ONLY and ONLY after Steven passed through both Blue and Yellow, helped all the townsfolk reach their highest state of character, recovering and constantly having dialogue with Jasper, and finding the last of Rose's secrets himself would Steven then be ready to discover the truth.
Probably Jasper would be the only one that Steven would be open to talk about because Jasper has an undying love for Pink Diamond that no other gem, besides Rose and the other colored Diamonds have.
Maybe the reason Garnet thinks that Pink Diamond was that tall, is because last time she saw her, she was unfused. Ruby and Sapphire are two very small gems, and that might be the reason why they think of her as a tall gem.
To me it looks like pink is just sitting in a high up throne to make her look more menacing.

I'm going to make a prediction that the reason that Steven can empathically connect to other gems including diamonds, the reason that Pink had a human zoo, the reason why Garnet's story of Rose seems like a fairy tale, Pink's size, why Pearl is so tight lipped about the past and the whole deal about how unlikely it is that a diamond could be shattered especially by someone who was against shattering gems without the one weapon that could possibly do it. The answer to all of these mysteries is… ROSE QUARTZ IS REALLY PINK DIAMOND!!!

Garnet's flashback can be wrong for the sole reason she met Rose when the revolution had already started, and not from the very first beginning. Rose could have told her what she wanted her to know and not the truth.
For Rose, portraying Pink Diamond as a merciless tyrant would make it easier to recruit gems for her revolution, than telling them the truth
The way sapphires work is that they don't see the present they only see possible outcomes of the future and act according to that, garnet can see present and future, and so when all her predictions are based around false facts and that's what she was depending upon she basically just breaks

We may not know if the sword is truly useless when it comes to shattering a gem.
I don't get why so many people seemed to dislike Garnet's story (or at least weren't impressed). It was uniquely animated, we got confirmation on things we've speculated on for years(like earth being Pink's first colony), and it showed us more about how rose fell in love with the earth. All that, on top of all the interactions with Lars and the Off Colors made this an extremely enjoyable episode for me
(But I do agree that there's something missing from the story, not everything seems to line up)

I actually have a theory about Pink Diamond and her shards, I don't know if this has been theorized yet, but I'd like to think of it as my own. I believe that Homeworld DOES have Pink Diamond's original crystal, and the reason they were experimenting with the cluster was to see if they may be able to bring her back.

I think that the first scaling problem was just perspective and the Quartz soldiers were far away, and the second one with Rose and Pink, the throne’s seat is a lot higher than your estimations

Idk why nobody is mentioning the fact that Stevonnie's vision of pink was tailored to them trying to make sense of the vision. Like how yellow was connie's mom and at first stevonnie was pink. That means they ALSO tailored pink's size to what they thought was normal. It was a combination of connie's logical side and Steven's visions.
Thats the reason stevonni is literally the same size as pink. There is no canon evidence that pink was "deformed". He literally just based this whole size thing around his own theories

I feel that the reason they used the simple design for this is because most of these events, Garnet didn't exist for. Garnet wouldn't know the size of Pink Diamond because Ruby and Sapphire served Blue and probably didn't meet Pink. She may not know how Pink was shattered because she wasn't there (I feel the shattering happened before the events of The Answer). She may also have fudged bits to make a more inspiring story for the Off colors. I don't know. Hopefully we get answers at some point.
Except we've seen a flashback before (when Garnet tried to talk to Steven and he shut her down) in which Garnet, Pearl, Bismuth, and two other gems face off against Pink Diamond. So we know The Answer happened BEFORE Pink's shattering, otherwise Garnet wouldn't have been in that flashback.

Pink Diamond most likely shorter that the other Diamonds, but still taller than most gems.
We don't have any confirmation, that is her actual height. The whole dream sequence is full of metaphors and symbolism, so we can assume that Pink Diamond's height is how she feels compared to the other Diamonds.

in the scene where its the quartz soldiers talking to pink, who is shown on a larger scale than what we know she is, it can possibly be an emphasis on the power she holds over the Quartz soldiers depicting that she is the one in charge, showing us, viewers, how she deems to see her followers as smaller than her when they're most likely the same size. Or it could be an over the shoulder shot and she makes them stand further back to make them seen smaller in her eyes. Love your work Awestruckvox! keep up this amazing content!!

Just remember, Garnet said, "The diamonds, unique in their flawlessness," so Pink likely use shapeshifting
Okay okay what IF pink diamond is still alive while in shards. That white diamond hasnt appeared because she is trying to put pink back together better than before. And thats why way back they were collecting shards and smashing them together. To test how the shards form and if one will come out perfect so white diamond could do the same for pink diamond.
And as such is why Steven had a vision of her, whether because he could feel he distantly due to where he was at and the high strung feelings there or a shard of her was actually at that base hidden away. (Far fetched but its an idea)

This is just my own little head cannon, but what if Pink Diamond is taller than depicted. I mean, yeah she was shown to be short in Jungle Moon, but she is also depicted at bratty and childlike so she could have shapeshifted smaller to annoy Yellow Diamond. Honestly, I think she is about the height of Opal or Rainbow Quartz, seeing that the height of the diamonds somewhat mirrors that of the Crystal Gem fusions (Alexandrite being the tallest while Opal or Rainbow Quartz being the shortest [out of the pure gem fusions]).
This is making me realize that asking the right questions is important. Everyone was wondering HOW Pink was shattered, but not too many people were wondering WHY she would have needed to be shattered in the first place

Let's not forget the fact that Garnet believed Rose Quartz is a unique gem that came out differently than all the other quartz in the kindergarten we know that's not true there are many other Rose Quartz at the zoo that Pink Diamond intentionally created she was not a random new quartz created on accident but what if Garnet doesn't know there are more Rose Quartz Gems
TVmaniac26 which is weird because sapphire and ruby were both in the room with all the bubbled rose quartz, their distraction helped Greg and steven escape that room.
But remember it took both Greg and Steven to realize the bubbled gem were Rose Quartz until both Blue and Yellow mentioned they were Rose Quartz Gems and they made the comparison when yellow was singing. Ruby and Sapphire were only in the room for a short time and were too busy dealing with both Blue and Yellow trying to avoid being caught. They were distracted trying to think of an excuse to trick the diamonds. Even if they did see the bubbled gems it was for a short period of time and they were too far away to make out. They probably assumed they were different gem prisoners that the diamonds kept. So like Greg and Steven, Ruby and Sapphire did not make the connection right away. It's not like they put all their attention into trying to identify the gem when all there attention was on the diamonds and if the diamonds realized they were distracted with something else that wasn't then they would be furious and offended. They were completely focused on the diamonds out of fear they couldnt concentrate on anything else but this is just a theory of mine

Just because Rose Quartz was different and unique as a person doesn’t mean that Garnet thinks that there are no other Rose Quartzes. I think it’s pretty obvious at this point that aside from the Diamonds, there are multiple ones of every Gemstone and Garnet knows that considering her roles on Homeworld. They just portrayed the other Quartzes (possibly even Rose Quartzes) differently in the flashback because they’re not the focus.
The implication wasn’t that rose quartz gems in general were unique, but that Rose Quartz the individual was unique compared to the other rose quartz gems. Not in the obvious ways like Amethyst or the Rutile twins, but because of her compassion and technical pacifism which would not be an intended trait for a Soldier gem.
I'm pretty sure she knows about other Quartz soldiers, she IS just saying that Rose came out differently as in a different state of mind/paradigm. And she fought in the war so she would have fought with a quartz soldier of course, anyway just a thought :P

I think Garnet's telling of the Rose Quartz story is simply this - she's telling an history the way we'd tell a history to someone who didn't know about or had heard differing tales on the subject. There's a lot of things that are easily explained (the writers keep it simple, you guys) -
1. As this is at most an abridged history lesson, I think Garnet isn't following a timeline or that all of her events are in order. It's the same way we would try to describe an historical event and, unless we're all history majors or buffs, we'll just to jumble things together to make a cohesive story.
2. Just because we saw a flashback from Stevonnie doesn't mean that Pink Diamond was given/got Earth the next day. There could've been years between Jungle Moon and the events that kicked off the series. BY that, I mean consider how Steven ages - he might be 14, but he looks and has the mind of an 8 year old. Pink DIamond was a spoiled brat. Whose to say that once she matured, she didn't also shapeshift herself to reflect that maturity?
3. To go with 2, she can be mature and still be a spoiled and now obnoxious teen/adult diamond. We've seen her personality.
4. Vox...I'm guessing you're over the age of 18 at least. And I'm hoping that you've completed the basic education, though I also think that of most of the fandom, but maybe I'm wrong. Do you all honestly NOT know the difference between the definitions of 'safe' and 'kidnapping'? Garnet's exact words *"During her reign on Earth, Pink Diamond STOLE humans from their families as trophies of her conquest."* Stealing humans from their families DOES NOT in ANY way sound like "saving".
5. Also, you all realize that the human zoo we see is after 5,000 years, yes? That is to say, like modern zoos today, what we see now is NOT how it was in the olden days. Not to mention that, despite it being called PINK's human zoo and having some of the original pink exterior and interior, all of the zooman are in BLUE, all of the fruit is BLUE, the background environment is BLUE, the choosening circle is BLUE...do you see where I'm going here? The wellbeing and happiness of the current zooman are not due to PINK'S influence, but BLUE'S.
Obviously, the new PDMM brought up in the trial throws a wrench in everything, especially when it's clear that not even Garnet or Pearl seem to know the real truth. I still maintain that Rose was set up to the point where even SHE wasn't aware of the full truth. That would explain why she would tell others that she had shattered Pink Diamond, with A sword; everyone just assumes she used the one from Bismuth, but 1. we know that wouldn't shatter any gem and 2. that didn't seem to be a staple in her arsenal as she straight up attacked Blue's court without it. I think when the truth comes out, it'll be shocking for everyone - fans and in-show characters alike.
What if the shard experiments were in used to try and revive Pink Diamond?

I just noticed in the episode "The Big Show" right after Steven asks Sadie if she's nervous the camera quickly pans over the audience and you can spot Mystery Girl in the crowd.
Pink D can place wrong memmorys inside of other gems, and she used this abillity for creating "friends" - her obsession with humans came because she can't alter their memmory (until she becomes a full grown steven) - this could also highlight why aquamarine is pround of her perfect memmory - her gems mind can't be altered

yeah I got the feeling something was wrong with that flash back when I first watched the episode especially since we know that Roses sword cant shatter. Plus calling for help didn't seem very Pink like since it would be pretty much admitting to Blue and Yellow diamond that they were right and she cant handle a colony of her own. who knows, maybe Garnets version of the story was propaganda Rose created to hide the truth about Pink Diamond from newer followers

The fact that we have two different stories of Rose and Pink diamond coming from opposite extremes like the crystal gems and homeworld it makes the relationship of rose and pink diamond more of a mystery it really is cool story telling I just wish we get more episodes of Steven finding out more on this story that neither side saw.

for one of the scenes were they show pink diamond looking much taller than the other gems that is just being based off of the perspective its being shown at, its zooming in on pink diamond making her look bigger even though she is the same size as the average gem
You're losing PERSPECTIVE on Pink's size because those quartz soldiers are farther away from her than you realize. YOU can't say that Garnet's firsthand eyewitness account of Pink's size is wrong when you're only account is through a dream that Stevonnie had. You do realize all of the other inconsistencies that dream had. I would put more stock in Garnet's testimony than in Steven's dream.
Tim Possible Height consistency is an issue I have. Pink maybe as tall as Stevonnie in one episode, but when we see her again she'll probably be as tall as Opal

DK.Galaxy the animators have trouble with that. One time lapis was the same height as Pearl another time she was shorter. They made amethyst smaller than ever in the most recent episode she was in. They've made peridot shorter with every episode. That's why these guys shouldn't put their faith in every visual because it's all an interpretation.

Pink Diamond is obviously putting up an act. She’s shape shifting and likely learned a lot from Yellow and Blue since Stevonie’s dream. The Human Zoo was created thousands of years ago. Pink Diamond could have tormented them but once Blue took over, she showed her softness and helped them in her memory. Plus it’s like zoos in real life, some people interpret them as paradises, others as prisons.
I think I read somewhere that the brain distorts memories every time they're recalled. Maybe after recalling these memories over thousands of years, PD has gotten bigger and more ruthless. I don't know, it's just a thought
Here's what I think, I think Pink Diamond was best friends with the "Original" Rose Quarts after her subordinates reported what Rose was doing, where they both bonded over their mutual love for life, individuality, and love. Perhaps they were both trying to find a way where both gem kind and life itself could live properly side by side. But that all ended when the diamonds could have caught wind of the lack of productivity on the colony as Pink was seeking to preserve life on Earth. It could be possible that Pink and Rose then worked together to set up a "Rebellion" in hopes of stalling for as long as possible, all the while promoting individuality and love to those who wanted to listen and even perhaps turn those who may have been more stubborn in their ways of falling in line. Of course this could have caught the attention of the Diamonds once again, either worried about Pink or to contain and quash the rebellion before it could spread off world, they would then send their support to assist Pink in the war tipping the scales in their favor as the Crystal Gems started losing, in a last ditch effort to scare the Diamonds and their gems off world, they would have to "Shatter Pink Diamond" But because none but a diamond can shatter another diamond as well as needing both the shards and a witness or two to make it believable, it could very well be possible that Pink and the Original Rose Switched places with one another by means of shape shifting. I quite like this theory because it provides an interesting sacrifice of someone Pink may have genuinely cared about dearly, which would become a turning point for Pink as it would both cause her to eventually, or at that moment, grow as a person and strive to become someone like Rose. It adds to this drama since not only does she have to live as the Rose Quartz she shattered, but also have to live with all the consequences that came from their decisions. Unable to ever tell anyone, except for her most loyalist Pearl, in fear that all of their hard work in promoting life, love, and freedom would come undone. (sorry if I already typed this before I can't remember if I did)

That is true, but when I said shape shift, I meant like what Amethyst did when she assumed Jasper's form, and who is to say that the top part of Pink Diamond's gem couldn't resemble that of a rose quartz, all it would technically take would be for Pink to re-position the pointed end into herself. If it is possible of course.
I'm not saying positions around their bodies, I'm fully aware that their gems can never change from their specific spots on their bodies no matter what form they take even in Fusion, but what I AM saying, and this is something that is still solid as it hasn't been confirmed yet, is whether they could be able to ROTATE their gems around that permanent area. Since gems like amethyst, Ruby, Sapphire, etc have a flat end to them, it would technically be unnecessary to rotate them in the first place. However, it isn't confirmed that the Diamond gemstones have a flat end, I'd like to think that the gemstones of the Diamonds take on a more three dimensional form like you would see in commercials, and since we don't know whether they can actually rotate their gems, my theory is still solid in a way. More importantly It wouldn't take much to fool Eyeball since all they would have needed to do was just change their forms to begin with. As for shards, since they would already be difficult to identify it would still be possible to fool them into thinking the Rose Quarts shards are actually "Pink Diamond's". I know they can't change their gemstones into other gemstones nor can they move them to a different part of their body, but it hasn't been confirmed that they can't ROTATE them.
I actually talked about this theory a while ago, slightly different but still close to it, about Pink and Rose putting a facade about the shattering business to scared the diamonds about the whole thing on Earth. Or another one with Pearl been the one shattering PD instead of Rose, and why she doesn't shapeshift anymore.
However, I like your theory, and maybe the shapeshifting thing might be off, but something that we as the fandom don't know yet, is how some powers for the diamonds might differ from gems. Yes, we know that regular gems can't change their color, gem placement or even rotate them to look different, but what if Diamonds in fact, can? Or at least, rotate their gem? And in PD case, rotate her gem so she can look like a Rose Quartz and also, look like the diamond she was suppose to look like?
After all, Diamonds have a power on their own and are indeed, very strong. It's even possible that PD only had that on her gem even tho she was the very first defective diamond of her kind, we had already seem that even defective gems can develop or have their own powers that no other have seem before, like Peridot for instance, she can't shapeshift but can use a sort of metalkinectic power, something that no other gem had before, so it's not something crazy or out of the picture to thing about.
Garnet's perspective might even be how the original Rose behaved so everything was more believable or sort of, and PD on the other hand, took things on her own as the new Rose Quartz. The whole thing kind of fits, again, with the old ending theme "Love Like You", even tho, confirmed by Sugar, that the theme in fact, "reflects the overall theme of the show of self-acceptance", so this could also be PD accepting that she would never be like the other diamonds, accepting that she might be defective, but doesn't mean she's wrong or "broken".

At the end of the day, we still don't know much about the diamonds yet, just as much as Steven does, about their powers or how everything came to be are still unsure and under the veil to be uncover in the future.

I see so many people confused by this line, Imagine it like a freed slave saying they are a black man that belongs to no one. Pearl decided to defy her purpose (pearls are basically pretty slaves that are accessories). So she belongs to no one.
Which is sort of false advertising seeing how Pearl most likely came from White Diamond's... uh.. Clan? Family? Stock? Whatever. Point is, I think a "freedom seeking pearl" would have been a better description.
I think Garnet phrased it that way as a sign of respect to pearl, because in Pearl's opinion she never belonged to her "master" she belonged to no one. Ever. My question is why was she on earth? And how are pearls made in SU? Because pearls are born from organic life, they don't come out of the ground. What if Pearl really didn't belong to anyone? What if pearls were not a thing until they found earth? So our pearl was like, just born as the rebellion was taking hold and Pink was like "You will soon be assigned a master" and Rose was like "Or, OR.... you could fight back and have no master!" What would you choose? Just a thought
Outlaw you just gave me an interesting thought, I think pearl was one of countless pearls of white diamond. I think she was defective because her gem shape is oval more than perfectly round, so she was given to pink diamond as a "gift" to celebrate her first colony.

It's so strange going back to before "A Single Pale Rose" and watching theories about Pink Diamond and/or Rose
I think some of garnet's Theory might be wrong because she might be going off on what rose told her but rose didn't tell the gems everything she wasn't there at that time until the end of the flashback
JOVEX anything that would make sense cuz Garnet didn’t meet Pearl and Rose until AFTER Pink Diamond was (supposedly) shattered and right after Garnet’s “flashback” ends we see Rose protecting Garnet and Pearl behind her shield when Yellow, Blue and White diamond are doing their blast attack thing but during this Garnet looks like what we know her to look like today. I don’t see why the 3 diamonds would wait for many hundred to many thousands of years to attack Earth with their blast and I don’t see how or why it would take them a long time to find out about Pink’s “shattering”, it doesn’t make any sense; now of course we don’t know when Garnet changes her look but I believe it would be a long while before she does so.

Last time I checked, it was never stated that Garnet met Rose and Pearl after she was shattered. In fact, this episode confirms that she met them prior to the shattering.
