Because of these beautiful review and sound comparison, I had just bought an Edifier S3000 Pro as my PC speaker.
Choosing between Edifier S3000 Pro & Edifier S2000 Pro, see the specification on their official website, Edifier S3000 Pro had double the power which makes the bass sound so powerful than the Edifier S2000 Pro.
By the way, wish to see the comparison between AirPulse A300 & Edifier S3000 Pro. If the sound comparison doesn't have much big differences, I still get another Edifier S3000 Pro for living room since left & right speaker work wireless.
Nice video & sound, from Malaysia :D
Keep going and bring us more review and comparison.

*DISCLAMER* S3000Pro was recorded in "Classic" DSP mode, not "Monitor" mode as I claimed before. Classic mode boosts the treble significantly. I am sorry for the confusion.

I've had both of these - and the s3000 pro's are definitely better. Tighter, less boomy bass, with better low end extension - and even though I think the tweeter only changed in the shape of the wave guide, the highs are beautiful. I also think the s3000 pro's look classier for a living room setting. The s2000 pro's look nice - but I never loved the front grill, and removing it doesn't help much. The dark wood color of the s3000 pro's is just elegant.
That said, I still have the s2000 pro's. The s3000 pro's were returned when the wireless connection on my set started having dropouts. I think I got a faulty pair.

disagree. here is obvious: 2000 closer to the Source; lack bass. 3000 have problem on "sss" frequency (like 3000hz probably) where 2000 are perfectly close to the source.
Since that, not Airpulses, not 3000, but specifically 2000 are true jevels in edifier lineup. They just need subwoofer help.

@@NeverStark so your room. Every room is different. There is VERY small probability that your room consumes excessive S sound of 3000.
And very high probability that you, as the most, prefer sound with coloration.
3000 can be "more fun" but actually "more fun" is no "better".

    • @NeverStark
      @NeverStark 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

@@extremumone - One reason why I decided to find new speakers for my living room was actually the sibilant "s" sounds that I was noticing with my s2000 pro's. Contrary to what you're suggesting, I did not notice that behavior on the s3000 pro's. Their high frequency was crystal clear and defined. It really stood out to me as one of the hallmarks of these speakers over my s2000 pro's.
I've also never found the s2000 pro's to lack bass. Bass output from those smaller woofers has always impressed me for their size. It feels accentuated - like they have something to prove. I actually didn't think of it as boomy or excessive until I heard the s3000 pro's. I felt that the s3000 pro's controlled the bass much better in my living room - offering plenty of presence and power without dominating the rest of the frequency range. They definitely offered more low end extension (which you'd naturally expect from a larger woofer.)
I did notice that with some songs, male vocals felt recessed - which led me to wonder if the mid-range suffers a bit on the s3000 pro's. "Say Something" by Justin Timberlake is probably where I noticed it the most.
I really enjoy both sets of these speakers - and had the s3000 pro's not developed connection problems, I would definitely still have them.

Definitely the best review video I've seen on speakers, love how you get to hear the different music types and compare them seemlessly. I was almost sold on the S2000, but now leaning towards the S3000; only issue is I listen to a lot of metal, and that was the only music style that the S2000 came across better in. I love the isolation of sounds and the imaging of the S3000, but i think based on music preferences the S2000 may be the right choice. Wondering how much impact a good EQ would have here...

The S3000 is tuned like a V Curve of an eq. while the S2000 has flatter response curve and more forward midrange ,that is why it sounds better on metal. Though the S2000 struggles on low bass while the S3000 is cleaner and tighter on low notes. I am now wondering if this 2 edifiers can compete with a pair of good passive bookshelfs on a good integrated amplifier at the same price point.

Listening to this with my etymotic er4xr its obvious that the s3000pro has way more air. Its as if a veil is lifted when switching from the 2000s. I think it sounds even better then the original. Maybe a tad sibilant sometimes but then i just dial down the treble by 2 db or so. You are using the monitor preset on both right?
Because they both switch back to classic every time you change input or turn it of. I own the 3000s and the classic preset has a bit more treble then monitor.

The s2000 almost sound more full where the s3000 sound thinner and brighter. I'm thinking the s3000 is in some mode that isn't helping it on some tracks. The mids sound reserve and the highs over powered. The s2000 sounds of muddy bass.
I don't think from this review I'll be changing out anything I have. I got the same feeling about the s3000 watching z review that the highs could easily become fatiguing. But when listening to the swans m300 the m300 sounded too reserved and bass heavy and the s3000pro sounded too many highs.

I own a pair of S2000Pro, the electronics inside are inferior to the S3000Pro which has a better woofer as well, no only the bass extension and also gives a fuller mid-bass.
A slight dip and then flatten at the high frequencies is designed to sound closer to a set of Hi_Fi speakers. This comment is applicable to S2000Pro. That's why I bought a pair but the electronics are a little disappointing but for the money I paid is OK. My pair of 2-way passive spkrs sounds much cleaner and has better clarity maybe because I have better electronics that drive these spkrs.

    • @mas2pek
      @mas2pek 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@gotzilraaa7028Ahh, that's a classic headphone vs speaker scenario like the debate of apple Vs orange. Both are fruits that tastes good but very different.
      Speaker:
Is there an intention to share your music listening experience with others at the same time? Like chilling lounging with friends together over some coffee or wine? Or simple movie watching with a buddy? To experience a true spatial stereo audio experience in the space of your living room and feel the vastness of the performance as the sound of applause comes to life.
      Headphones:
Do you enjoy a personal one-person audio experience whereby the music is playable as loud as you want, whenever you want? Allowing your ears to pick up new audio details which in turns transforms the spatial musical experience only for you ? To hear the deepness of the bass and crispy sparks of high while being mesmerized by the mid vocals? Being yet so close to your ears, but yet feels so far?
Bearing in mind, a high end headphones like that of AD1000x/AD2000x would performs much much better with a good headphone amplifier or a dac-amplifier. If budget is of a constrain go with Audio Techinica MSR7, to my ears one of the best bang for the buck headphone.
If spatial musical sharing is your preference go with Edifier S2000 or S3000.
Either one both are great for musical enjoyments, just make sure you find the time to listen and relax. Many people buy high end gadgets (headphone or speakers) but they don't allocate time to enjoy, which is then a waste of money.

I had both in my house. Obviously the s3000 pro is better (punchy bass, defined treble, great soundstage...) but the r2000db is amazing for his price.

@@KeenAesthetic1 you can adjust the treble with the apposite knob or with the use of a small equalizer but the power of the 3000 speakers is insane and also the woofer size allow a very good bass extension. Being speakers without a sub output the 3000 would be the only one I would purchase as a sub cannot be added. 💪

I suspect the recording doesn't reveal all. I listened to this on the S2000 Pro speakers. And the S2000 Pro in the video sounds much more anemic compared to the "original recording" while playing the video back on my S2000 Pro speakers. The S3000 Pro sounds much clearer and fuller. Hearing them in person I'd bet there's even more detail there.

Why does Edifier S2000Pro sound boxy when comapred to Edifier S3000Pro ? It also sounds boxy when compared to Swans M200 MKIII. Watching various comparisions I feel like Edifier S1000DB has similar sound signature to S3000Pro, just with less depth and less detail of S3000Pro. Looks like S2000Pro was a mistake from Edifier, thats why the latest S2000MKIII has design changes and now looks similar to S3000Pro.
I would rate Edifier S3000Pro > Swans M200 MKIII > Edifier S1000db. I wouldn't even bother considering S2000Pro, its boxy sound and its trebles just put me off.

The 2000's have a much more detailed, almost British sound -- but it seems like it would get fatiguing after a fairly short interval. Like the difference between a pair of Linn Katans and, say, a pair of Ohm or B&W monitors of the same price-point. And I definitely hear the cabinets more with the 2000s.

s3000 has way to much treble, just look at 10khz. Perfect in room response should be a 10db downard slope from 20hz to 20khz. S2000 sound more realistic even through my phone speaker. Easy to fool people these days by raising treble so that it seems like more detail and also putting shiny hi-res sticker.
