This recording alone will show the people who says that Segovia was "over rated" that there has not been a guitarist so far, during his life time or after his death, that can fit the shoes of this man. Long live Segovia!. Beautiful interpretation!
I like how in the repeat Segovia jumps from measure from measure 31 to measure 57. This seems the perfect solution. We get to hear the beautiful arpeggio section (from measure fourteen) twice, but we only have to hear the chord section (from measure 42) once. We also hear the opening section three times instead of the tedious four we'd have to endure with a full repeat.
thats cause people often listen to him when he was in his 70s to 90s and his technique was deteriorating, if he listen to him in his prime like this he kills it
@@veronicaconnolly4542 Yeah, right? Most people don't even bother to play anymore at this age, while Segovia's recordings (that are mostly from his late 60s on) are still huge references in the performance of the pieces to this day
I like the way it 'feels', I know they're players who tear this up and down and do it justice, but with Segovia it's a romantic thing. He took the technical and gave it life, and it didn't seem like work.
People who underestimate Segovia, in my opinion, need to: A) Listen to Segovia in his prime, don’t judge him by the recordings of the seventies. B) Keep in mind the great guitar literature that came into existence because of Segovia. Most major works of his times were dedicated (with the exception of Concierto de Aranjuez) or inspired by his influence. It’s true that he mostly ignored Agustin Barios Mangoré and had a strong personality, but his playing was unapparelled, his sound unequable. This study is the best version I ever listen to!
Monique Ledermann Really? where did you read such a thing? if that is true thats really a bad answer. I dont think he would say such a thing. And i would add the question of why you say something like that in this video/interpretation which is characterized mostly by its slow tempo compared to how its commonly played?
Me pregunto porque Andrés Segovia no interpreto obras más bonitas y de mayor sonoridad como obras de Mozart y otras más que son muy lindas. Hoy día tocan músicas jóvenes con muchísima destreza obras de Chopan y más
Some of the best of his playing. It shows both his skill AND his musicality.
Possibly, the best version I have heard.
Agree
Cautivadora interpretación, llena de pasión y matices. Qué sonoridad tan maravillosa. Era un auténtico genio
Absolutely a great performance/rendition.

Francisco Burgos Those who say that have listened little Segovia.
Francisco Burgos Agustín Barrios...
"over rated"... only a stupid can thinks something like that. Long live Segovia!
Go and listen to Fabio Zanon playing Villalobos
@@tomasorrtiz ele compete em vários aspectos, mas eu acredito q o Segovia seja mais completo no fim das contas
Tonal quality is almost impossible to fathom. Unsurpassable!
God bless you Andres Segovia
This is the best version that I've seen from this Etude.
He's the greatest! This is my version: th-cam.com/video/UdqA644IWis/w-d-xo.html
FANTASTIC! Excellent performance, very haunting!
REV 18
LA MEJOR VERSIÓN DE ESTE ESTUDIO.

Fantastic interpretation....incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent! I haven't heard his performance of this piece until now.
Complimenti, tutti brani rigorosamente di alta levatura e suonati da chitarristi eccezionali. Complimenti davvero!
I don't usually like his technique or how he arranges things, but there's nothing to be said about this.
He nailed it.
HueHuey I would say you have listened very little the music of this man.

musicalité incroyable ! l'esprit Villa-Lobos est là!
Interpretazione impareggiabile. Bellissimo il video!
Amo Villa-Lobos. Músico de minha querida terra, Brasil.
Segovia stays the Master of all guitarists as he showed the way to numerous great virtuosi: Bream and Williams to say the least.
Respectful God he was.

Bravo !
very nice......
I like how he plays the ending

Master!
Utterly bloody brilliant! I'd LOVE to know what age he was when he recorded this!
Bravo
cool, but could he play smoke on the water?
You'r so stupid
when people asked him why he played some passages so fast, he answered: " because I can"

I've heard this quoted before, but don't know if it is actually TRUE. Perhaps a "better" answer would have been, "why not?". lol
+Gary Ormond I have heard it attributed to various performers, I think it's just a meme
Gary Ormond n
He was very kuccy
It sounds much better with the original lyrics.
Insanity. Segovia is my god :-)
Segovia did not create life, the world and the sun and the moon and stars .
Damn; I am not a Segovia fanboy, but I have yet to heard better playing of Etude no 7, and I have heard tens of guitarists playing it.
sargijapunk if you think this is the best version, you gotta listen to Iván Rijos.
sargijapunk: My sentiments exactly.
sargijapunk you have to hear Alexander Milovanov
sargijapunk i like how you said tens. Made me laugh out loud legit
The best version is from Villa lobos himself unfortunatelly we will never hear it. Him playing choro n. 1 is very different from what we hear today.

Porque era guitarrista y tocaba música para guitarra.
Si a ti no te gusta esta música, eso ya es asunto tuyo.
@Ricardo Morel
Meno male che sei nato maestro!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grandios
I love Segovia and took lessons with him but he is not God. Jesus is the Almighty God
Yepes' playing is better to me
+Yewon Cho I think I prefer his, too.
not as passionate
