At a time when the guitar occupied a marginal space within the classical music of the 20th century, the guitarist Andrés Segovia gave a instrumental hierarchy to the Spanish guitar working on transcriptions of classical or baroque works and collaborating closely with composers such as Torroba to help them compose classical music for guitar; composers who would later be called "compositores Segovianos" such as Federico Moreno Torroba, Ponce, Falla, Tansman or Villa-lobos, among others.

Every note so perfectly played. So clean. Tidy and yet expressive. Peerless.
He made a recording, which is perfect. The one here suffers a bit, tuning or frets may cause some inharmonicity.
In the chordal figure he can make a more round and energetic, forward driving phrasing on the EP grammophone recording. Bu still lovely, this one version here ❤❤❤

This wonderful composition contains so much of spanish culture’s beauty and mysticism! Especially as conveyed by Segovia magical hands.

@@fullofbullets58 LMFAO, come on man, respect the maestro 🤣but yeah, Segovia had the absolutely big chungus hands, but he perfectly played the most delicate and insanely hard pieces with it! And I don't say it in a derrogatory - from what I heard he always had those since he was a kid and I think it's freaking cool! I have a very unique finger shape, and instead of letting myself down when I face problems with my playing on a hard piece where I have to adapt, I listen and do a little research of some photos of Segovia and that cheers me up! LONG LIVE THE MAESTRO!

What a shame there aren't many high audio quality recordings of the maestro Segovia. This is the best one in terms of audio quality I've heard so far.
There are many. Check out his albums from 1952 on. Most of them sound great.
What? He released dozens of albums.
Recording quality was perfected by around 1960. His albums sound as good as they could ever sound.
Nowadays we can record with lower cost and more convenience, but quality was maximized long ago.

The Word in french is « puristes » .It means people who give a big importance to the technical aspect forgetting that music is the expression of human emotions and nature. I think technic is important,but it is just a mean ,an instrument to reach the real target wich is human sensibility .

Best performance ever - unique. Torrobo is currently discarded. Why ??? This is such marvelous writting for the guitar. I'm sure current guitarists could equal Segovia.
