How about you guys make a "Back Issues" on Ellis' "The Authority" (which I fucking love). Also, you could take the chance to clarify if there's any other Authority run worth reading after that (I haven't read any other run because of fear of being disappointed).

Marvel's publisher at the time wanted Stan to create a team of superheroes because DC created The Justice League of America, only HIS idea was to revive pre-existing heroes like Cap, The Original Human Torch & Toro and the Sub-Mariner. Basically do what Roy Thomas eventually did when he created "The Invaders." Instead of doing that, Stan just created a super-team from scratch about the same time as DC created Challengers of the Unknown, a non-super-powered team who wore uniforms and did dangerous heroic things because they were living on "borrowed time." The '60s were an interesting age for comics...

Here are two examples: Krantz's interpretation of the origin of Spider-man and all of the live-action versions and the animated Ultron origin and Avengers: Age of Ultron. How many young people know that it was Hank Pym who built the original Ultron versus seeing Tony Stark & Bruce Banner constructing it on the big screen? Probably the same amount of young fans who asked when they picked up recent Marvel issues "Who's the old white guy with the eye patch?"

I love you guys doing Silver Age stories. Those stories are wacky, weird, dumb and fun as hell. They’re just fun to dissect and see the mindset of the time compared to now. I really enjoy hearing about those old books.

This origin of the avengers is very weird but then again that story was written by the 60s so I can understand why this story wouldn’t hold up in a modern context.
I think he’s done most of the good ones. A lot more of Spider-Man’s history is just mediocre. I think he should do Hobgoblin next if he hasn’t done it already
They described the importance of these comics and how Lee and Kirby worked together to create two comics but one massive universe. How it all started and how it had to somewhere. How you can enjoy the comic however you choose. While being chill, it was like chatting w my vids buds

Damn, another classic! I'm excited to see more of these. Maybe you could do the first appearances of Spidey or Daredevil by reviewing their first few original issues from the 60s instead of modern retellings or iterations. I wouldn't say the same for the likes of Batman bc idk if you wanna do books from the 30s/40s but some AND I MEAN SOME are those are a fun read and its interesting to see the debut of people like Gordon (who i was SHOOK to read and learn he was there from issue 1), Robin, Catwoman, Joker, etc.
It feels like guilt is what motivates a lot of Marvel Superheroes. Then half of DC's roster is about being responsible with your great powers, but people think every DC hero is Batman (ie: edgy vengeance)
Also most of the marvel characters were assholes before they got their powers. Peter was a selfish brat, Tony Stark was a scumbag weapons manufacturer, Strange was a greedy douche, and in the first hulk story a scientist working with Bruce on the bomb asked if they should double check the test site and Bruce tells him to fuck off, which almost kills Rick Jones and leads to the creation of the hulk.
This vid convinced me to try out read classic avengers. Its a dated but fun ride! The best part has to be the guys totally calling the ant-man pill thing. When he comes back after a brief vacay, he cant go small anymore. All the size-growth has damaged him! He cant even go building size anymore /and/he has a time limit on it. I must admit i had a hearty chuckle.
I had a bad flu when the first avengers film came out. A buddy in the dorms lent me what I later learned was a bootleg...no post credits scene, just Cap kept saying the words "Avengerrrrrs -" over and over while the credits rolled for like 30 seconds and it just ended. I assume that is the entire catchphrase.
@@colinvalentine I missed picking her up since I am almost all DC these days (less money all around and I like the DC mythology more than the Marvel street level heroes - but I love the MCU and the visual designs on a ton of characters so much I do buy them now and then - I love my 1970s design Dazzler and would buy a John Byrne She Hulk at any price so I may have to check the place that has hundreds of loose Marvel figures about 25-30 miles from my place outside San Francisco since comic cons are not a thing right now)

Not really a documented by the facts sort of thing but more like an off-the-cuff sort of back and forth with Ethan and Ben as to what they all think about the things creators do.

The way I like to view these stories Is that they didnt happen in continuity the same way they happen in the issues. These in my headcanon are stories that are TOLD in continuity. That's always been how I see it.
Since Amazing Fantasy #1000(which I think is made up number) is coming out. It would be awesome to do the original Lee and Ditko run on Spider-Man. That would be really fun and hysterical.
After so many episodes dealing with the modern era, it's nice to switch things up once in a while and feature a classic story full of balls-to-the-wall insanity that only the 60s can give us. XD
I tried to read the first few issues a while back and they were the dullest slog I think I've ever read from 60s Marvel. Even early FF and Spider-Man aren't nearly this insufferable. Every panel has so many goddamn words and yet it feels like barely anything happens, like damn Stan chill out.
I'm reading all of them and the Avengers are super boring but it's not even the worst book. Giant-Man & the Wasp and Iron Man are insufferable, and I've only read 2 issues of Daredevil but it doesn't look like it's going to be any better.

I had a few of the onmibus editions as a kid, Avengers, Wolverine etc. Up until this backissues I would have told you I'd read the first 30 or so issues of the avengers... I can not recall a single shred of a memory about the space phantom. I remember Zemo and Cap though... It's like my child self repressed and expelled the memories of the phantom

Normally that era is too cheesy/corny or just too foreign to the characters I love today to give it much thought. Definitely have a new appreciation for these classics. I never considered that the Avengers really only formed because the Fantastic Four were busy or lazy.
