    Such a nice video! Thank you! The conversation between mechancs crack me up!
    I got a question, I was using HT-12 the green coolant for my F90, is there a difference using blue?

      @@notailbear335 if your car came from the factory with ht-12 green coolant than you’re are supposed to use only that. If it came with blue coolant then you can use either for top offs.

      @@autolapse3693 Yeah mine is a 23, does that mean previous models comes with blue? or is that after they replace the tank? Thank you master tech!

      @@notailbear335 exactly, some of the earlier models (18/19) had the blue coolant and they switched over to green later on. So well top off with blue on a blue system and green on a green system

    Great video! What was long the red tool you used to release something from below the expansion tank on the right side? It looks like it has a hook on it or something.

    Bro you did great. I wish BMW would recall the coolant tanks on the f90. I’ve only seen one aftermarket solution so far. Do you work for an independent shop or dealer?

    • @autolapse3693
      @autolapse3693  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks man, im at a dealer. The RK billet tanks are big money and the catch pan they sell is effective but id rather just keep an eye on the tank and catch it early for the price of installing one yourself

      I agree!! They would never recall that then they lose money.

      @@autolapse3693 Those aftermarket solutions cost a fortune. For example, the Level Performance Coolant Catch Pan is close to 700 dollars, which is like 4 times the price of an OEM expansion tank. So you're right, you're much better off just opening the hood once a month and check if you have a leak and have it replaced when needed. It took me 1,5 years of ownership and 14k miles before I got my first leak, so approx 250 dollars every 1,5 years if you have it replaced by a dealer.

    Bro great video!! Prior to starting this replacement, did you extract any coolant out of the expansion tank? I have a 2018 and want to install the coolant catch pan from 1level but it's pricey AF. Do you know if BMW made the expansion tanks better quality?

    • @autolapse3693
      @autolapse3693  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I did not extract coolant before replacement but that’s always a good idea to make things less messy. The last two I put in had minor revisions so I think they slightly updated the part with a drain tube that directs leaking coolant towards the back of the engine instead of onto the coils/injectors. But time will tell if they are still prone to failure

    Did you have to unplug the battery when removing the cover of the DME, or is the cover just all plastic?

    • @autolapse3693
      @autolapse3693  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The DME cover is just a plastic cap that comes off straight up. No need to disconnect the battery for this repair
