Bmw F80 M3 Active Autowerke Catted Downpipes Sound Clips & Install
มุมมอง 3.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
These Active Autowerke catted downpipes are easily the best quality down pipes I’ve ever installed, and while they don’t change the sound very much you can tell they are built with quality. If you’re looking to add downpipes to your car that won’t cause a check engine light, these are definitely the way to go. I would rate these as a 4/10 difficulty as far as aftermarket bmw parts go.

1st Gen Dodge Dakota Restoration

Exterior restoration of a 1992 Dodge Dakota in my home garage
Where are you in PA?
youre like an hour away from me lol
Just picked up a 2009 E92 328i w/6 speed manual with full intentions of doing an LS swap.
Amazing swap, could you post some free revving and cold starts?
@@JakeJanzen-n5b definitely can
@ sweet, exhaust sounds perfect, not to loud and not to quiet
I feel personally attacked! My automatic LS swap for my wifes daily is not lame! lol
@@PartialRug 😂 not all autos are lame and they are definitely nice for dailying
Great video. Completely agree with the sentiment that mild v8 works perfect in these chassis for a street car to compliment the car as they come
She definitely sounds great!!!!
Thanks for all the detailed documentation. I can’t wait to do this to my 128i after enjoying the i6 a little longer 💪
Would this tool work for changing the N55 motor to N54 the way it’s needed for the Holley terminator?
@@GarrethStaveley I’m not sure of the question specifically but you can do all kinds of coding like coding a n55 chassis to a n54 chassis yeah
@@Sfdgarage okay so no need for NCS expert then?
@ so far protools has been able to do most things you would need ncs expert for
Man I wish I would have went with a swappable chassis when I bought my BMW. Awesome job on the car!
@@UpanovrOffroad thanks!
That thing would make a great daily
So f-ing badass man! Good for u. Do u think the paddle shifters can still work for a 5 series with 4l80e??
@@Stckit1 I’ve seen other people get them working when using maxxecu setup but you’d have to do a little more research on it to find out for sure
I have enjoyed watching this as I'm in the process of starting my swap shortly. The only difference will be I will be using the MaxxECU instead of the Holley.
@@Reason0684 I’ve heard great things about the maxxecu. I’d love to try it out one day
@@Sfdgarage The only reason I'm going with the MaxxECU is that my car is a DCT and I would like to keep it that way instead of converting it to manual. If I was going manual, I would use the Holley like you.
@ the dct is such an awesome transmission. You should document your build too
I've always wondered, how do people go about finding engines compatible with a certain chassis? Intuition would have me believe it'd be incredibly difficult.
@@floof3167 it’s a lot of trail and error but sometimes you just gotta go for it. It’s hard to go wrong with a v8 in anything though
Very nice. Would be great to see a how to overview
@@michaelcoyle1062 check out the three part video series on my channel! It covers every step!
Nice job man - I’m doing mine this winter, using a 335 gearbox - this video will be helpful! Thanks!
Did you drain the coolant prior to starting this or can you remove just by clamping and refilling any little that escapes?
Well, this clears the lights but wouldn’t you want these lights remapped somehow so they correspond to the appropriate LS codes? Otherwise would you be flying blind if your LS ever developed issues?
My friend had this problem and it was his TPS auto set not loading 😅
That’ll definitely do it 😬
Look like it took them about a day to do it.
@@lilshamarkjr2 it was about 16-18 hours working time
What was the cost of this build, please?
Nice vid any chance of a follow up? and tires size?
275-65/18
Thanks again! And yes, creating a base map video would be pretty cool
nice swap, do you know if a viper v10 engine can fit in tis bay ?
@@husq_p3nda335 anything can fit with enough work 👀
Why did you leave the cap open when you started it. I just did this job but didn’t do the bleeding nor the open cap part
I like to leave the cap open for the first couple minutes to let any air pockets escape that may be stuck. Everyone does it a little different
Great build series. I recently picked up a 2010 Camaro manual, and plan to enjoy the Camaro for a few years with a cam and long tube headers but plan to LS Swap a bmw 2 series or e92. Also, currently have a 2007 e90 335i with 8HP45 swap and all the goodies running about 550whp. Thx again for documenting the series!
@@edwardwerley8831 you’re welcome man I’m glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻 that’s a nice line you have cureently
Excelente 😊
Before clicking, i told myself to not get any ideas.
Damn! I wish I knew about this swap before I did my engine change. Well done.
Excellent
I’ve been struggling to suppress the CEL after installing catless downpipes on an F10 BMW. Any advice? This was really easy on older BMW’s - but very little info out there on newer BMW’s.
@@jkrueger27 as far as I’m aware you would have to use something like bootmod to tune it out
Did you have any DSC/Climate control issues regarding the CAN checksums (0x168, 1x169, 0x170) prior to just changing the Kombi/HSA settings? With NO CAN box connected, if I key on the car, I get a "No Message (Message, 0x170), receiver DSC, transmitter DME-DDE", and same for ID's 0x168, and 1x169. Same messages present in the Kombi. Curious if these all collectively go away with the above changes?
@@ProModsPerformance I’m not sure to be honest. I didn’t have any issue prior to these changes, just the dash lights on. I was under the impression the can box got rid of those faults for the dme not being present
@@Sfdgarage Mike's CAN box does do some work to remove these checksums, but I assumed that would also clear the lights. So I was just curious if you'd scanned codes (for the lights you had) before doing these code updates
@@ProModsPerformance I actually didn’t scan it before this process. I wasn’t too concerned about what faults were being set, I more so just wanted the lights off
@@Sfdgarage Copy that! I'll play around with it. It theoretically doesn't hurt to turn off these indicators in any case, so may give it a shot and see
I am not doing a BMW swap but this will definitely help someone that is. Good deal. I hate dash lights lol.
@@GrandPitoVic same I was determined to get rid of them lol
Fucking A again dude! Good shit. Probably a stupid question, but I’m a way can this be used to help pass an inspection after a swap?
@@Stckit1 thanks man, unfortunately probably not, as it’s just masking the lights not deleting all the faults that are stored. There’s really no way around emission inspections once you delete the oem dme control module
Awesome swap man, did you have to do any modifications to make the headers fit?
I’ve heard of other needing to “persuade” them on but mine bolted up no problem and cleared everything with no mods
@@Sfdgarageoh sweet, that makes that part a lot easier
Nice job wiring brother!!! I just finished my Gen 4 Ls stand alone. We'll as far as I can untill I install the engine and connect it to the car!!
Good stuff mang
Rad, cross them i's and dot them t's bruh bruh!
I'm in PA as well, are you gonna have issues with inspection and emissions?
@@mr.he-rock-ohh2355 I won’t personally. If you don’t have the ability or connection you may though
@@Sfdgarage ah got it.
Awesome vid man. Here in Australia, it's not easy to run aftermarket ECU's when doing engine swaps. Going to be running a standard LS1 wiring and ECU for emissions compliance ( Holden Commodore in Aus' ) Will be interesting to see if the wiring colours are consistent throughout the BMW range. I am yet to buy my BMW, but looking at E46 320i to 330ci Coupe'..... Lots of info around the internet thanks to the good ppl that are willing to share...thank you.....
God I’m so jealous
Awesome info. Hopefully soon I'll be able to do a project like this. Thanks for the info
Sounds fucking amazing! I have a 07 328i I would like to swap, already have an L96 but still need trans, holley, driveshaft, etc...how much $ would you say you have in the swap total, not including the cost of the car itself? I am thinking its gonna take another ~$8k give or take to get everything I need, depending on whether I go 4l60e or T56...
@@CPoston420 good question, I already had the LS1 long block and the T56 before starting this project so that saved a decent amount. All in I’m about 10k into the project including buying the car which was 3k.
Amazing! Do you know if you have to run that brake signal wire to pin 41 on the CAS if you are staying automatic?
@@Stckit1 yes you do. The only time you don’t is a factory manual car staying manual transmission
Car turned out great, looks factory, everything works, sounds sick and probably hauls ass too, building a drag/drift/grip car is one thing, doing what you did for a street build is quite another, I absolutely love it!
@@rlscustoms thanks brother! This is my first project car that has all the comforts of a bmw and AC that actually works and it’s amazing lol
Enjoyed this series, would you mind commenting on the t56 vs zf s6 gearboxes? Why go with the t56 or when should one stick with the stock bmw trans? Thanks!
@@ngige3617 I already had a T56 in the garage to use so it was a no brainer for me. I’m not sure about the zf 6 speed gearboxes torque handling abilities, and combined with needing an adaptor plate and different clutch setup, I’d be selling it and buying a t56 magnum f setup. Just simplifies things, and adapting a driveshaft is slightly easier.
Man very clear and helpful video serie for ls swap Am a bmw technician, and start to get all parts to start the 128i ls swap, Will be on my chanell too You did a great job Thanks
@@Azaautocare awesome can’t wait to check it out man! Fellow bmw technician here as well. 12 years in
Wow, you made it look easy. E46 next?👀 maybe you can use my car to make a series on. (We can talk more if you’re interested)
Pin 1/5 on that connector change by the year. That later cars with the connector with more than 8 pins are like yours, the early cars are 8 pin and pin 1. I go by color most of the time as its the same.
Sounds amazing glad to see you finished
I have loved these videos man! I am in the middle of acquiring parts for my own 1 series swap and your video was super in depth and helpful. I look forward to the next videos showing the dash corrections and Holley info. I am not a BMW guy but wanted a good platform for the LS and these are just so cheap and easy to work on. However, the software side of stuff with correcting the dash and getting the Holley setup are my biggest fears. Wiring was also a concern but between this video and Mike's I think you guys covered everything! Great job and please keep making videos with the stuff you do to this car!
@@PartialRug thanks! I’m glad you found it at least somewhat useful. The dash lights are an easy fix, I couldn’t find a good video on how to do it easily but I’m gonna make a video showing exactly how to do it and how I got there since I had to figure it out myself. The Holley video will cover exactly what you need to setup the system to work with the bmw and also I little tune setting up
