    I will most likely get the Billet tank so i know wont be a problem ever.
    But wanted to share my fix..I was lucky when mine split.
    Two things one dont use the red bmw coolant. Use the Green one.
    Second i bought a new tank and immediately got high temp epoxy and sanded the edges good wipe with alcohol and put epoxy around the tank where they meet.
    Then got some high temp tape and put it all over bottom of tank.
    I also wrapped both primary and secondary down pipes when i went catless with high temp exhaust wrap to further mitigate the heat comming off those pipes. That was a year ago. If you chose to go this route I highly advise to cure the epoxy per manf. Recommended directions.
    Not going to jinx myself so lets just say today is a good day and the Sun is shining.

      A decent idea on the billet tank. And shielding the bottom. But, it won't solve the problem of a leaky hose or cap releasing coolant under pressure. Both have been known to happen. Some caps fail to release pressure and cause the lines or tank to fail too. Not to put a cloud in your sky.

    • @Catchmeifyoucan209Stockton
      @Catchmeifyoucan209Stockton 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @281shaker Actually I have figured out the cap problem a Billet tank will resolve all issues. But FYI everyone thinks it's the cap but I can assure you it's not. Have you ever went to take off the cap and you almost need channel locks to get the Damm thing off. Lol
      Yes? OK so the cap is fine what has happened is right back to the original part that cause all the grief. It's the tank warping therefore making it very hard to get cap off and also causing coolant to leak from cap. I have figured this out doing measurements on a brand new tank then after and without a doubt the tank not the same it just can't stand the heat period!

    • @WhatsyourForte
      @WhatsyourForte  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are using pre-mix coolant, then no. If you use the non pre-mixed, then after you do you mix, you will need to turn on the car, turn the heat on max, then run the car until you reach operating temperature.

    A few questions: Does this catch can fit the m550i (2022). Does the M5 reservoir adapt to the m550i allowing use of this catch pan? Does anyone make a catch pan for the m550i?

    • @WhatsyourForte

      I think the M5 and M550 use different tanks. I am not aware if the M550 has this issue or not but this was designed for the M5 tanks

      @@WhatsyourForte I think it will be at least 700hp. As for the M3, the car you had on your channel the M3 wagon beat a tuned M5 even after the M5 got a jump on it. With the power the M3 can generate it makes me wonder if I really need the M5 also considering the G80 is now as big as older the 5 series BMW’s.

      @@synergy2782 The M5 is a powerful car it is just that it is cheaper to mod the G80&82 and it's lighter. The F90 is more way expensive build than the M3/4 Mod-wise build. However, the fastest M5 is running an 8.89 in the 1/4 mile.

      @@show2nite G80’s are running low 9’s which is right there with the fastest M5’s and are more reliable doing it. Regardless it’s not always about being the fastest but enjoying the car. I had a 2021 M5 and now I have a G80 M3. The G80 has a better looking interior and the exterior body stands out compared to the M5 which many have complained doesn’t look much different from the regular 5 series, no one is saying the G80 looks just like a regular 3 series.

    • @IamJewz
      @IamJewz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@synergy2782In a sense you’re comparing against generations (F and G) and I’ve also seen some S58s put in work on the S63 and the S58 is certainly a modern day amazing engine. The G90 will be a rocket in a similar manner to how the F90 was on release to its competition especially with how we see the S68 in the new X5M having its instant torque like function.
      That coupled with the new chassis changes it will show the difference between its past generation as the F90 did to the F10.
      I’m just praying it doesn’t look bland as I have some interest in it joining my other M car.

      a couple options now exist. $1100-1300...but considering this plastic is over $500 you're already half way into the cost of a better solution. Can't honestly justify the cost of this plastic shell. especially if you need it it means you need to buy a new tank anyway which almost puts you at the cost of the metal versions.
