I made and gifted my knitting group each a needle book created with cork fabric. One person asked if they needed to give me back the sharps I included. I never know who will or won't appreciate your efforts. Won't stop me from making and gifting.

Hi Anna. Happy Springtime & Happy Easter. I am right with you! In New Mexico with DMV experience. Just to renew tags was an ordeal, online , in person, emissions test, etc. etc and the frosting on the cake, the software on their program doesn’t update address from driver’s license changes. I know your laughing with me! The window gal was so kind and nice, she even lifted the corner of tag to make it easy! Yay, finally done after countless hours. Thank you for always finding the glass half full. That’s how I choose, seek joy in the little things.❤

I’m envious of your quilt retreat. It’s been awhile since I’ve been on one and i miss it. The place we used to go was a quilt retreat house next door to her shop it was sold and is no longer a store and retreat house.

Love the sheep! I’m cracking up about the DMV, I actually work for Driver License in the county I live in and since Covid we only do appointments most people love it because they are in and out in about 15 minutes.

Your instructions for the needle book gave me ideas. I have some Ultrasuede from too many years ago, but it would be lovely on the cover. And thank you for your term “cluster” I have heard it before but definitely get the meaning. Enjoy time with your family on this Easter weekend

Well now I have to make some needle books. Thanks for sharing. I have the Simply Sweet book by Kathy Schmidt. I ordered the "A Simple Sampling" wall hanging kit. I am stitching my first motif while watching your video. This is my first time using Valdani variegated pearl cotton thread and love them. Yes I ordered all the colors for the project. Getting fancy, huh? Lol. Hope you have a great time at the retreat.

A BUSY day with you - so enjoyed it. I relate to many of your comments/experiences. Lol 😅 I’m going to make a couple of the needle keepers for a quick project. As a garment maker in my early life, I used interfacing. I love using it for ‘body’ for many projects. I was happy to learn your non-traditional uses 😮. Hope your Easter and retreat are awesome.
Good Morning, thank you for the step by step directions for the needle book. My sister made me one I use everyday, I love it. I’m waiting for my hummingbirds to come back. I was thinking they don’t like my new feeder but I have a lot of plants they can eat from.
I love that French General Bleu de France, such beautiful fabric. I’m sure your quilt will be gorgeous. I had to go on Etsy to find the fabric I wanted for the backing.

I have a Grab and Go bag that goes with me everywhere. I always have a pair of socks I am knitting in the bag. It’s a great distraction when waiting for appointments and always a great conversation starter. ❤️🌺

I love the needle book idea. Of course whenever I have the chance to stop by The West in Tucson I think of you. I went to get the 2023 Prairie Schooler Card. They were out so they are ordering more. This Santa pillow will be in memory of my brother who passed in Feb. Next week I go to Long Beach California for his memorial. Have a great time at retreat.

I loved "Lessons in Chemistry". It is Bonnie Garmus' first novel. Wow, a fast-paced historical fiction. I was all over it. Your needle books are beautiful and I can also see they delight you. Have fun and friendship on your retreat. Take care.

OMG - what a nightmare in your DMV! We have some in my city that are best to avoid for various reasons, but the one I go to is fabulous even if you have to wait.
Even crowded mine has only one line when you enter. You might wait 15 minutes to get through it depending on the time of day, but those people are kind of triage people. They determine what you want and set you up for the right person to see.
Then there is a large seating are la where you wait to hear your number called and which counter to head for.
I’ve never been in there for more than 1/2 hour. They’ve got it down to a science which is almost unheard of for state offices. 🤪
You made me laugh a lot today Anna with the DMV stuff, although I’m sorry you had to go through all that. I am currently dealing with Social Security so I get what you mean by “Cluster ….” !! Your needle books are so cute, yet simple - such great gifts for stitchy friends. Really think I’m going to have to get the Kathy Schmitz embroidery book - I’d love to do the sampler and order the pre-printed motifs. Sounds like you’re well prepared for your retreat - so fun to be around stitchy/quilty friends and get your creative juices flowing.
Omg! We watched the Night Agent too! It was so good! We hadn’t even heard anything about it. Just watched it on a whim. I also ordered the Kathy Schmitz book and when I saw that you could get the fabric already printed! I ordered that too. Now just waiting for valdani threads that I ordered from Rusty Crow Quilt shop. I have her other book with all the hexies and was doing them with over dyed floss. But I finally broke down and ordered the valdani. I mean seriously what is one more thread company added to my stash. 🤦🏼♀️

What a fun episode! I truly wish you were my next door neighbor!! Our DMV has that same sign posted! Love your needle keepers. I actually made one using Kathy Schmitz test pattern…the little bird. It’s quilted with only one page spread for needles, but perfectly to my liking. Wish I could show you. Enjoy your retreat. I’ve never been to one. Maybe someday……. Thanks for sharing with us all. I’m fortunate to have a large library system in my area, so they get a large number is copies of popular authors/books. I’m currently #200 on the waiting list for Lessons in Chemistry! Maybe I should plan on it being one of my summer reads. Have a great retreat and touch each and everyone of your projects.

Had a postal worker that was always like your DMV man.I asked a him what his address was. He looked at me funny and asked why I wanted to know. Told him I was going to go move his bed so he couldn't get up on that side anymore.😊😊

Happy Easter weekend Anna. It looks like we’re both having a bit a soaker until about Tuesday. Hopefully you can do an Easter egg hunt for the bays. I love those mini scissors I got two pairs at Tater Patch in 2019 when I went to the shop. I finished stitching all my sheep last night. I’m going to make the little mini quilt after all as I bought the kit. Have a lovely retreat I’m jealous, please say hi to your girlfriends for me.

Here in Utah, you have to have an appointment for the DMV. I’m in and out in 10 minutes. Hopefully your next visit will be better. 😊

Great TH-cam! I’ve been making needle books out of leftover hexie flowers, and I will steal your cute heart pocket idea. Your girlfriends will love them!! I took a Sashiko class and thought of you the entire time. Enjoying it! I found that alphabet animal fabric at Hobby Lobby about 3 years ago. Adorable critters!! I must have an earlier version of Kathy Schmitz embroidery book, no QR code in it, and there are 72 motifs. Suggestion - don’t cut out the circles until the embroidery is finished so you have more to hold onto while stitching. Yes, LOVE Night Agent!!! Enjoy your retreat and great girlfriends.

@@quiltroadies1695 While doing some embroidery this morning I thought of a great addition to a needle book. The needle book I’m using is about 6”x12” open, and I’d love to add some flannel to the inside back page so it’s a place to park my loose threads.

With luck they will get so behind that they will cancel the test that us old folks have to take and just extend your license renewal for five years! I couldn’t believe it but it really happened. I read “Lessons in Chemistry” and really liked the beginning and the end but the middle got a little monotonous. Loved the Fredrik Backman book you suggested. Have fun on your retreat. The needle book is such a great way to use up stash.
