I disagree I think the stolen ratio will be higher due to the fact they can throw stick in manual much faster if the thief knew this already he would get away much sooner then the automatic. The thief rarely is driving off with it if you watch social media it’s being plowed by a car behind it or push down the road almost 90 percent of the time

Even in the sixties the automatic was considered superior in stock and super stock drag racing. If not for quicker ET they had less chance of missed gear. These would of course be manual valve body and high stall speed torque converters.
PS I ran a four speed myself because I felt like you. I'm old now and drive slow on a six speed Vette C5. I'll never learn either. I'd like to drive the new one!

​​@@stevek8829no it absolutely was no superior on stock form the old autos all the way up till the 2000s were sluggish and slow compared to a well driven manual stock vs stock. With stock converter they're very lazy and the older ones used to shift lazy too. It wasn't until the 2000s and beyond when autos started getting better gearing they was even able to compete now they have a gearing advantage over manuals which is the main reason they're quicker it's not fair comparing 8 and 10 speed autos to 6 speed manuals there is a gearing advantage. The shifting is a minimal part of the difference if you're comparing it against a manual driver who can actually shift fast the difference is negligible. I can shift fast enough it almost sounds like an auto shifting you can barely tell and alot of people prob couldn't tell it isn't an auto shifting. I know others who can do the same although these days were getting far and few between because everyone is lazy today and nobody wants to actually learn how to drive good they'd rather just let the car and tuner do all the work for them. We live in the age where everyone gets a trophy everyone wants to be fast weather they can drive or not this is where the autos come in to play. Modern autos allow everyone to be fast.
Yes in the 60s people would use autos most of the time in straight drag racing applications but those autos had mods and stall converters and the like. Out of the box a well driven manual was gonna be quicker than autos stock vs stock. This was true till at least the 2000s.
(I know you said with manual valge body and stall and that is different but I'm saying stock vs stock)

@rev68 on my Mach 1 sometimes the ring you pull up to go into reverse will get stuck up top and I'll have to manually pull it down in order to go back into first or second. Have you noticed that on yours?

@@wesd2845 Nope, not had that issue at all. I've had trouble getting into reverse a few times at start up, but I'm pretty sure that's due to the winter season I'm in and it being 'cold' out, as I didn't have that problem last summer.

@@rev68 thanks for the reply. It doesn't happen too often maybe 10% of the time but it can be a little annoying having to pull down on that lockout ring so sometimes I'll just take off in second year. I'm debating on getting a MGW shifter

@@wesd2845 I would think you could get ford to take a look. Something must be jacked up with the reverse lockout collar (that or switch to a steeda collar?).
Ever since that Gen 2 MGW shifter came out, I've had my eye on it as well.

Yep, it works on Mustangs and Camaros as well. It doesn't hurt to also put the Club on your wheel. I do. I have a manual and secure my ride with a club as well. I know that a pro thief can bypass anything if they have enough time. However, I am going to make them have to use a lot of time to steal my Mustang if they want it. Easier to just go to another car.

I can be out there in less then a minute. I know because I timed it. I live in Texas. It is legal to use deadly force in the night to prevent the theft of your vehicle. I have no problem using deadly force and hanging back and enjoying a cold beverage while I watch the POS thief bleed out.
