Modrinth is incredible. The main reason I didn't mention it here is because most people want their plugin on SpigotMC, because they are able to sell it there. Something they can not do on Modrinth, but can on BBB
@@KasaiSora Good point. But ignoring the questionable nature of selling plugins, which may go against Mojang's EULA as it can be considerd selling MC content (Which is why mods aren't sold at all in the usual places you find them), Modrinth compensates you with ad revenue on a per-page view (And on the app per-download) share of 75/25 (75% you, 25% them), which I think is better than selling as it's a more reliable income compared to having to have constant purchases.
@@andre_601 You are partially correct, selling mods is against the EULA but plugins generally are not as they do not redistribute minecraft code they essentially sit on top and make a handshake with minecraft code via a software like spigot or paper, as long as what you distribute is yours its acceptable.

I don't know about this... I actually stopped using PaperMC because I had so many problems with it not being compatible with datapacks and the like. I was seeing a trend where others were doing the same. I am wondering if it could backfire on PaperMc for doing a hard fork.

I think its a good step because the most plugins are Bukkit plugins and also the could make better Software because they dont have to take care of Spigot
I used to use Paper for my server but it always took so long to update so I started using Fabric with server-end mods. I've had a much better experience with Fabric than Paper. Paper is still pretty cool though.
BBB is by far the best the best Market place I have bought products from a wide range and variety of plugins, builds, pre builds with top notch support. Not really worried about the paper as they have been doing this for a while and this separation was in talks for a long time. At starting it might cause them a bit of an issue but I have faith in them. Not sure of the paper forks don't know what they'll do. Interesting development might I say and am looking forward to it
By the looks of it using the "Bare Bones" resource pack (Makes textures like the ones in MC trailers) and a Shader. Not sure which but guesses go towards BSL or Complementary Shaders.
Tbh, this is worse than most people think. As a newish plugin developer, working with Paper plugins is a headache, as its life cycle doesn't support reloading. This means that every time you want to test a plugin update, you gotta fully restart your server (on a spigot plugin, you can reload it with 1 command). To add to this, making a Paper plugin over a Spigot plugin has almost no upsides (you almost only get some new helper functions). Also, I mostly see this as a way to gain more market share on Spigot, as I don't really see the point of doing this...
You NEVER want to reload your plugin, not even on Spigot. Reloading WILL ALWAYS break stuff, even if you don't notice. Paper has lots of advantages over Spigot, for example: proper chat components, proper API for registering enchantments, a proper command api and more. Paper already has about 90% of market share when it comes to modern versions. Your comment has no actual points against Paper doing this and this is the right step for Paper.
@derechtepilz Hey, thanks for the reply! I have never ran into issues with reloading my plugins, and I don't see a problem with it. Also, I know about all of those APIs, and I have never really felt the need for them. You can do everything they do on native Spigot, and at most, they can just save you a little bit of time.
Nobody who seriously makes plugins wants to reload them. Even Bukkit and Spigot plugins do not work properly after reloads. EssentialsX and other plugins literally insult you in console when you do.
@juniorwmg You're right, but like... I waste so much time restarting the server over and over again that, for me, not being able to reload a plugin is still a deal breaker
@@JoaoMPdS If you do all that testing on a local server, optimize it to the best you can. Turn down render distance, turn down mob spawns, disable spawn chunks. It's paper, you've got many possibilities. Restarting should not take too long.
