I'm about to reach my 2 year mark on my current beard in a few days. Patience is a fruit of the spirit & I'm rooting for everybody on this journey as well as starting it!!
yeah people feel free to critisize it because it's not conforming, i think for some guys it always looks good as it grows and for the rest of us its just about how you carry yourself while letting it grow. when people tell me to trim my beard i tell them hell no. ive had a yeard before and am making another now.
My beard grows so slowly that i knew i had to give it a full year of no trimming in order to get what I wanted. That was the first time I went over 2 months without shaving and the results were amazing!! I wish i had the stamina to do it again, I miss my beard, but having just the handlebar mustache is a style I’ve grown comfortable with. One day I’ll finally decide to grow out the beard again!
I grew a yeard the first time in 1976 to honor the bicentennial of USA. I have now worn a beard since May 1993 when I retired. In October 2017 the decision was made to let it grow. Length has not been trimmed since that time. Cheek lines were established about 3 months ago. I plan to let the length go to the 3 year mark. BYW my beard is totally white.
I'm 8 months into it. But I didn't realize it was a Yeard. I've just made the goal to grow it out for a full year. And technically it's not a pure Yeard as I am trimming my mustache (can't stand having it lower than my lip - haven't been able to master the art of eating and drinking with it that way), keeping lines clean, taming the sides, and trimming fly-aways. Loving the Beard Baron oils, by the way!
I'm in the process to a Purist Yeard, only 2 months to complete. Before I conluded a Double Yeard, but not the purist form. I'm very happy with the results. Roni from Brazil here.
Dude, you have saved my Yeard!, thank you! I’m not a purest, but your advice on waiting days based upon growth age, other people comments & criticism literally saved my beard.
I’m hoping to go for a yeard now for first time, I’m on about month 3, and il have to say it’s definitely the people who say things like “when are you going to shave” and “you look better without it” which really plays with your head, but I’m determined 💪💪
I grew a silver/gray yeard two years ago. My wife was supportive. The comments from others were the biggest challenge.”You look younger without it. “Are you going to be a Santa Claus this year. “Hey Moses.””You are ruining the family photo.” What helped: hanging with beard guys, using product, - oil, wax, and a good brush, watching beard videos, and at the end getting my beard professionally trimmed and shaped. I eventually shaved and am thinking of growing it long again but with lines and mustache control.
Absolutely agree about people commenting on beards. I have had complete strangers stop me to say they like my beard/moustache. I have also had others tell me my "beard looks like sh*t!" - no joke, that was the actually comment from a stranger. On top of this we are our harshest critic. I have times when I want to quit (I am about 8 months or so in). I have had other times when I want to keep going. It certainly is not as easy as "just don't shave/cut. Thanks for there video. Great job as always.
Going for a yeard, started on April 1st, so I’m at 4 months plus one week. So far so good. My hair growth patterns are pretty weird and I’m surprised how thick my goatee is and how thin my sides are. Mustache is coming in pretty good, but the soul patch is pretty patchy.
That is awesome! I know what you mean about the growth in different areas being stronger than others. As your beard continues to grow it will most likely hide those "weaker" spots!
I was going to just grow a mustache, but I decided the full beard it is. I tired this last year and only made it to month 3. This time i'm staying committed and taking daily photo and monthly video of my yeard. My mustache is a week ahead of my beard but I'm just leaving it grow from this point on as a yeard. Thanks for the video!
A Yeard is like a Nazarite Vow in the Bible, no razor touches a hair, except its just the Beard, where the Nazarite Vow is hair and whiskers. Sampson, and John the Baptist are 2 examples.
4.5 months in, but I've been mostly hidden away at this point (not intentionally, just some poor circumstances). But, I'll be moving back to my hometown soon, and rejoining a former employer, so I expect some comments from old friends, family, and former colleagues. I don't expect many will be negative, but I'm not going to let anyone who is get me down. The simple fact is I haven't felt this positive about my appearance since the last time I was a gym regular and had my weight under control. If I can get back into that routine, as well as the beard maintenance, I reckon it'll be the highest my self-esteem has been since I was a teenager.
Would love to grow a yeard some day. Been growing a beard on and off for about 12 years (I’m 34) and the longest I’ve made it is 4 months. I’m a runner (30-35 miles a week), so those summer months are so hard to get through with a full beard.
I forget where I heard it, but one thing I think helps some is making sure I’m groomed properly with a good hair cut to offset the crazy growth on my face. Never have both crazy hair on your head and face at the same time more or less.
Contained within our DNA is the genetic coding to how our beards are meant to be and so often we let it grow to just passed stubble, go to the barbers and get some contrived shape chiselled in. This is sadly how many beards are lost. Because, after that point it’s even harder to take that next step and grow the trueness of beard. If only we could just let it do it’s thing, build a relationship with it whilst nurturing it’s growth, deliberating and taking time before making decisions, we can not only grow as beardsmen, but as individuals on a spiritual journey of self realisation.
I'm taking the purist path and am 6 months in. The most difficult part is accidentally eating my moustache. I have to comb my moustache out of the way before I eat. The most I've grown it in the past is 6 weeks and I have decent beard growing genes for my age of 24. When I was a teenager I would shave in the morning and have a 5 o'clock shadow.
I did this when I turned 29. I said I'm not shaving for a year, I'll only create lines. Now I'm 36 and haven't shaven since. I just shape it and keep the same lines.
Enjoying growing out my second attempt at a Yeard. This time I am going purest. Got some awesome Wildwood moustache wax, because my stache grows pretty fast and all over the place. But I love it. Thamks for the awesome products Mr Baron. Love it!👍
Same bro. I wish the rest of my beard grew as fast as my damn mustache lol. I can shave it off and it's almost back completely in a week. My Grandfather was born in 1908 and he use to rock a sweet looking waxed mustache chin beard combo. My Dad said he couldn't grow a full beard but I think he was like me and just never could leave it alone and let it grow lol. 2 weeks in on my yeard right now and I'm not touching it at all for 1 year....I can do this!! My Dad can grow a sweet beard and mine isn't patchy so I think there is hope for me growing one. Jus gotta tell myself it's probably gna look shitty until it grows out so I'm gna let it grow wild and free until it's the fullness and length I like and then I'm gna go get it professionally trimmed.
Around 6-7 months into my yeard... My hair grows fast! It's very thick, I'd say I've got a good 4-5inch length so far, I've been growing out my head hair since covid too... I reckon another year or 2 and I'm going full viking!
Great video. So true. I'm not sure if I'm growing a yeard, because there have been a couple of moments where I have been maintaining the length, befoe I decided to go longer. But I assume my yeard would be somewhere if I would let it grow now until March. However there are so many moments where I've been thinking abbout trimming it back and there are so many people co-workers and others making comments about it. It's good to hear that I'm not the only one receiving those comments. Still not sure if I will keep growing untill march, but thanks for this great video.
The mustache top lip is the only thing I would trim in a yeard. Beard Baron I don’t know how you do it with the the mustache over your lip. I tried to do it twice and it drove me nuts. Thanks again.
Got to 7 months and my moustache is so thick and heavy I couldn’t take anymore. When i see these vids of guys claiming a yeard and having the wispiest tache ever I feel they’re doing it on easy setting and I’m on grisly bear setting
Four months in and thinking I should really tidy it up a little especially the neckline where it’s particularly curly but I’m trying to resist because I want to achieve an untouched yeard. I guess the answer is to keep away from the mirror.
I’m doing a yeard for 2021. I’m keeping my mustache short, and shaving my neck. I also have to create a line on my cheeks because it goes up in a triangle shape almost up to my eyes. It looks pretty badass so far. I’m torn between just keeping it this length (1 guard on mustache and 4 on bottom) or letting it keep growing. It makes me look older but I’ve been getting a lot of looks from younger chicks, especially at the gym. Thanks for saying the yeard police aren’t going to come knocking. That’s exactly what I needed to hear. I’m just gonna do whatever the f I want.
Do you. That's the beauty of a beard, they are all different and unique almost like fingerprints...Gives you individual character. Grow YOUR beard and never compare it to anyone else's. I am also committed to a yeard atm as I'm 33 and have never grown a full beard before. 2 weeks in right now and got a long way to go lol. Good luck with yours brother!! I can't wait to be part of the bearded brotherhood 😎
Started growing a yeard about two weeks ago, it's going pretty good so far, might need to buy a beard oil/wax and some other maintaining stuff but I'm trying to stay in the purest form!
I have started a Yeard too! 27 Days in now, loading a few videos along the way. 7 day, 14 day, 21 day, 30 day, 60 day, 90 day, 120 day, 180 day and 365 day videos planned.
In the process of the Yeard excited about the process of becoming a bearded legend. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I have the right to do anything with my face like growing a beard. We are men that is a natural thing and I am actually drawn to doing this for myself because I always hate shaving my beard especially when it becomes cold. Beard on..
The best thing about shaving your beard is that you can grow it back. I always thought the Yeard to be more about discipline and self-control rather than style. It's like going on a diet. You have to stick to the plan. Sure you can create lines and trim the sideburns, much like you can allow yourself one day a week to binge fats and sugars. In the end it's about commitment and following through a plan. Though I think the parameters of the plan should be thought out in the beginning if discipline and self-control is the goal. Example: maybe your goal is a Yeard and you can trim the sideburns and mustache but nothing else. But If you go to a barber after six months to get a proper trimming and shaping of your beard then your plan can be considered a failure. It's not a bad thing, though. Maybe it teaches you something about yourself and decision making. Strictly speaking, there is no secret about growing a Yeard or losing weight. Just stick to the plan you set out from the beginning.
I've only done a Yeard once. Almost. I was two weeks away from completing the year and was visiting my sister in the Pacific Northwest who insisted on having some grilled chicken for dinner. Long story short, the BBQ wouldn't light for whatever reason, I closed the lid, let the gas build up a little, stuck one of those long lighters in an air vent, and next thing I knew, a massive fireball came straight at my face and my nose filled with the stench of torched hair. Lost my right eyelashes, eyebrow, half of my mustache, some hair around my temple, and most hurtfully a massive part of my ten inch beard. Was in denial for three or four days until I finally went and got an old school hot towel shave at the barber shop. That year of the beard taught me many things about myself and those around me, and is one of my most fondest experiences. Every time I apply Wildwood beard oil, the scent takes me back to one of my most favorite years I've ever lived. I of course promptly grew another beard, though nowadays I mostly stick to growing 6 month purist beards.
I decided to go for a yeard or (oneandahalfyeard) with my current 6 month length feels kinda like cheating but I want to try at least once this infamous journey of discipline since I consider myself a very disciplined man. We'll see about that.
I’ve set it at a New Year’s resolution 2024, grow a yeard. I got to 5 months the last time. I felt I cheated cos my barber kept shaping it as it was growing. All I want to do is line it up
40 year old here. Tried to grow a Yeard 4 times in last decade. Only made it to 2 month mark or less each time. I like your reflection on quick decisions to cut vs. giving it fair time to think it over. I use beard oil, but tend to get fearce itch phases after 6 weeks and it's brutal. All 4 times I (frustratingly) cut it off at night out of desperation cutting into my sleep. I'm 1 month in for the 5th time now. I have goals, I have 3 pictures posted on my bathroom mirror of what I want my beard to look like. I'm trying this again, so thank you for the tips. I'm going to hide my trimmers and put a not on the box their in to remind me to sleep on it. Any advice for a severe nightly itchy beard attack?
Deal with it like a 40 yo man!!! Take it as no pain no gain thing. I never used any products and had to endure it like the strong man that I am! The end results were even more satisfying! you literally feel you are ready to ascend to Mount Olympus lol If not well quit and keep on shaving.
Me having a large beard for about 5 years of continuous growth (with light trimming here and there when I feel necessary.) i get a bunch of comments i.e you need to shave, you need to trim it down, it looks ugly. etc. Well guess what.. it's my face, my beard, and my choice. I don't care what people think and it's definitely not gonna make me change my mind, because I always brush it off because I couldn't care less about what people think about me, my beard, or anything for that matter. So I was wondering what are some things I can tell the people that say those comments... something along the lines of FUCK OFF!
Strangers making bad comments about the beard is the worst. Just maintain the mindset that it is your beard and other peoples opinions are none of your business
You need to see that you are going to get two strong responses. One bad. Whatever. But the good side is bad ass. I got so many stores to not close because my beard was great. Special privileges for my beard! Even if no one says anything, you'll get good responses that you wouldn't have without the beard. Some people are just mean spirited. They enjoy making people feel bad about anything, not just beards. Ignore them. It's the only way to beat them at their own game.
done it once now after 10 years in the midle of growing a no2 yeard the hair also without doing a thing just a wash with baking soda to form nice knots a wild rasta look wat I am after:}
I'm in my 20th week .. I am aiming for the power beard .. 4 more weeks. But .. I am not satisfied with the fullness or the bushiness .. May extend it or the other way ..
Isn’t a pure yeard a bad idea with damages and splits? I’m all about the growth; I haven’t shaved since 12-31-2011 and it’s been four years since my last real trim for a job interview. I do however trim for shape and damage control.
Hi Alex, its great to hear from you! Growing a true yeard will present some challenges of split ends, however it's more about the fun and idea of growing a "yeard" than the trimmed, polished look. If looking to maintain a long beard, I don't recommend a true yeard. I personally keep my beard long while shaping and maintaining it every few weeks!
I'm 33 and have never grown a full beard before. I'll be 2 weeks in tomorrow and I am already seeing great results....This thing is gna be gnarly after 365 lol. If there is one thing growing a beard teaches it's patience. Father time do your best work!!!
I have done my yeard, but I kept my lines cleaned up and got rid of any split ends if I ended up getting any. Loved the journey. Was great fun. I grew it till my 3rd button on a button up shirts now I keep the length just above my collar bone so my neck is covered haha. Will definitely grow the longer length again when I start getting some greys. Great video as always. Take care.
Hi Justin, thank you for sharing! The collar bone length is an awesome one, I usually keep my beard around the same. Thank you again for watching! I always appreciate your comments and feedback! :)
Get some beard wash from the beard baron website and really work it in with your fingertips. I’d refrain from using anything but beard care products on the beard itself so just wash the face above the beard with your regular soap.
The closest I got to a yeard was I believe 46 weeks. I know soooo close, but also my gf really didn't like it at that length. That did come with two maintenance trims along the way and regular lining up of the cheek and neck line. So not exactly a PURE Yeard but it was fun. I would probably grow a tweard if there wasn't anyone it bothered :P
I think it's worth specifying the word "shaping". I would agree that you don't want to "shape" your yeard with any sort of blade. However, I would ABSOLUTELY "shape" it with a brush/comb and/or hair dryer! That is, unless you want to look like a nasty hobo (which will naturally draw a LOT more criticism from others), lol 😅.
4 months into my yeard I've decided just now to grow a Lifeard that's right not shaving again for the remainder of my endless numbered days. (Thumbs up if you got the Iron & Wine reference)
If you're gna be a beard hater ladies you best make sure them sasquatch legs of yours are shaved first lmao. Jk tho, ne woman I've ever met were apprehensive in their guy growing a full beard....Until he shaves the entire thing off and their kids are running around the house hysterically crying stranger!!! Lmao
I’m in the process of growing a yeard, it’s amazing how long the begging stages take cause once it grows below your neck line it’s kinda a relief.
I'm about to reach my 2 year mark on my current beard in a few days. Patience is a fruit of the spirit & I'm rooting for everybody on this journey as well as starting it!!
Patience is key! Thank you for watching!
"patience is a fruit of the spirit" well spoken buddy

Products and brushing obviously. Trimming and shaping? Absolutely not.
5.5 months in and really needed to hear this encouragement. Thanks!

I'm less than 2 months from the culmination of my yeard. No cutting, trimming, or shaping. I'm likely going to shape it into a Garibaldi.

Started growing a yeard about two weeks ago, it's going pretty good so far, might need to buy a beard oil/wax and some other maintaining stuff but I'm trying to stay in the purest form!
Nice. Same here.
So how did the yeard go? I'm thinking about doing the same here soon.
Great thumbnail pic.. Also really cool plant mural/wallpaper in the background..🍃
Thank you so much 😀
2022 going yearding
I have started a Yeard too! 27 Days in now, loading a few videos along the way. 7 day, 14 day, 21 day, 30 day, 60 day, 90 day, 120 day, 180 day and 365 day videos planned.
One year later, did you Make it?
I definitely agree with you Stefan! It's all about that self control/discipline when it comes to not touching your beard and growing a true yeard!
Damn, that's brutal!
What an incredible story! I'm so sorry that happened to you, I am glad that Wildwood can bring you back to great times! :)
10 inches? For a year of growth? Seriously doubt that.
4 months in and people stare at me like I'm an alien😅
I decided to go for a yeard or (oneandahalfyeard) with my current 6 month length feels kinda like cheating but I want to try at least once this infamous journey of discipline since I consider myself a very disciplined man. We'll see about that.
I’ve set it at a New Year’s resolution 2024, grow a yeard. I got to 5 months the last time. I felt I cheated cos my barber kept shaping it as it was growing. All I want to do is line it up
Ist yeard,8 months in. Go for it. Jan 25,2024.
Thank you for the video brother! I’m in the process of growing a yeard right now. This was some helpful insight.
Glad it was helpful! thank you for watching! :)
I'm trying growing a yeard, it's my 4th month already.
That is so awesome!!!
I'm doing it the yeard becuse I love beards period msn
I did the yeard when i grew my beard out. now i just I just get it trimmed up every month or so
That is awesome! :)
Me having a large beard for about 5 years of continuous growth (with light trimming here and there when I feel necessary.)
i get a bunch of comments i.e you need to shave, you need to trim it down, it looks ugly.
@@thebeardbaron really appreciate it, thanks!
For me it was 7 mo. Without touching it. After that I had to trim it to look nice and neat
Wow! That is awesome!
I am growing a yeard, I am Two and half months into it already.
Keep growing! :)
6 months in and I eventually had to start shaping the cheek line. It was way to jagged and patchy, I looked like a creep
Yeard for 2023. Almost 2 weeks in. Started with a decent goatee. Should I shave it down to match or continue to let it grow?
done it once now after 10 years in the midle of growing a no2 yeard the hair also without doing a thing
just a wash with baking soda to form nice knots a wild rasta look wat I am after:}
Busy with my yeard now
I'm in my 20th week .. I am aiming for the power beard .. 4 more weeks. But .. I am not satisfied with the fullness or the bushiness .. May extend it or the other way ..
That is awesome! It's definitely worth it to keep going and see if the fullness will increase!
Update: 38 days in. Have never kept this much hair on my face in my life and I'm completely diggin the look. 327 to go....
I'm at 6 months half way there July will be my yeard. No Cut or trim
I’m a month into growing a amish yeard
I'm going for a double yeard. No shape, No Trim, not taking no Length off
That is awesome!!!
@@thebeardbaron Your Welcome! I agree its definitely my favorite length. Take Care.
My beard is growing
In the process of doing it... 4 months and still going
You've got this! :)
@@thebeardbaron I hope so. It's looking really terrible right now with a few areas outgrowing others! laugh out loud!
"Great support group" ? you mean my fists !
3:33 that's funny cause it's true
Great advice
Thank you Donny! :)
I always shave.. when i can't eat a burger without eating my own stache
How do I wash my face with soap when I have a beard
Get some beard wash from the beard baron website and really work it in with your fingertips. I’d refrain from using anything but beard care products on the beard itself so just wash the face above the beard with your regular soap.
The Captain is right! :) I recommend using a beard wash, that is specifically formulated to be used on your face!
I totally think 2024 is the years year.
Oh wow! That is awesome!
Beard life matter!!!!!! That’s the goal
Lmao
.
The only thing I trim is the mustache. My wife loves my long beard, everyone else can go to hell.

I feel like growing a yeard is much easier during this Covid timeline.
I agree!
