    I just hit a yeard and gave myself a celebratory trim. Took about half an inch off and it was the best decision even though I was hesitant. Feels so much healthier, looks more sharp, and felt cathartic!! Haha. This video came right on time for me.

    Trimmed my beard regularly using a #4 shield. Beard is 25 years in progress. Last November 1, 2017 decided to let it grow. Looks great. Get lots of positive commemts, very few negative ones.

    Last year I grew mine for 6 months, and you hit a point about keeping it neat and the difficulty of not wanting it to "shorten" it. I had a problem with that, I didn't want to cut it and I would lightly trim it but what I learned after was I looked unkept "hobo-ish" because I didn't even up the hairs. In September I will grow start to grow it out again and I want to do the yeard. I will force myself to keep it nice and trimmed up but same time grow it out, I guess that a balance I will need to figure out. Great stuff Eric! Keep up the good work and thanks for all the tips.

      +Chris Gomez I did 5-6 months growth then first trimmed about 1.5 CM off of almost everywhere. Then I waited another 3 months and trimmed only the longest areas .75cm. I will continue a .75cm trim every 3 months till I get tired of it. That's my growth/trim schedule.

    Good day all beardsmen!
    I very much look forward tobyour videos, thanks as always for posting.
    I hit my 'yeard' in January, but the mistake I made was, because I used to grow minimal hair it followed my jawline, I had parts longer than my neck. Now I have grown it out but throughout the year I had a smidge taken off every time I had my hair trimmed.
    My beard is at a length and style now where I feel confident and happy. I had to endure this über scruffy stage, but fortunately stick with it and now I have a beard where I intend to grow it further.
    If anyone out there is dubious about growing a beard, just do it! Don't let what others think put you off. Pretty much any guy with a beard will encourage you to do it. Hey, my girlfriend used to hate it, now she loves it and even makes me products of my own - which my barber loves and wants some too!
    Beard on folks!

    Can i use hair pomade for a longer beard?

    I hit my yeard on 2/15. I wanted to continue growing it out (though it seems like it won't grow anymore) but wanted it shaped up. So I asked around and got a recommendation for a barber here in town and went. First, beard trims are cheap. Like $10. I tipped him $10 just because the experience was nice. They did a little shoulder massage, free draft root beer, a really nice place.
    I've watched a lot of helpful beard trimming videos and I'll probably start doing my own maintenance, trimming wise but wanted to go to a pro the first time. You need to be laser specific with your barber on what you want. I explained to mine about the yeard, what I had done and that I wanted to continue going for length but just wanted to shape it some. He did a great job.

    Eric, can you do a video about growing a beard through the summer? Any tips to help get through the heat and humidity? I am attempting to grow my beard for a year and everyone says I will want to shave during the summer months.

    • @ryanwilson5936
      @ryanwilson5936 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm obviously not Eric but for me, my beard actually kept my face and neck cooler in the summer months. It created a nice air cushion between my skin and the outside of my beard keeping my skin dry and cool allowing sweat to evaporate nicely. Then it keeps warm air in during the winter. My beard tends to be naturally soft and mostly straight, YMMV.

  • @brandonriggs7502

    First of all...another great video! Secondly...
    I have always had a problem with dry skin, psoriasis in this case. Even with beard oil and keeping it washed I am constantly having to use outrageous amounts of beard oil to helpcondition the skin (12-18 drops or more) and my beard is only 7 months old. Is there anything you can suggest for a budding beardsman with this problem that would help cut down on the constant and embarrassing appearance of dead skin flakes in the beard? Caveat: I keep it brushed and combed along with the wash and oil.

    • @brandonriggs7502
      @brandonriggs7502 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      and to help cut back on the amount of beard oil used...

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brandon Riggs Hey Brandon - one thing you can try is picking up some castor oil. It's fairly common, you can probably find it at most drugstores or online. It's quite thick and dense, and can be a little messy, so a little goes a long way and I'd suggest using it primarily while you're hanging out around the house - you can massage a bit of that into your beard and the skin underneath after you shower or before bed, and it may help with the dryness. Castor oil has long been used for super-charged hair and skin conditioning, so you may want to give that a shot. Then continue using your beard oil, but cut your amounts in half, try for 5-6 drops instead of 12. In addition, up your water intake. Getting enough water in a day goes a long way in hydrating your skin and eliminating flaking and dryness. Give all that a shot and let us know how it works!

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jose A. Peralta We might be a little biased but our stuff is premium beard oil, you can't go wrong: www.beardbrand.com/collections/beard-oil
      Beard oil is designed to hydrate, soften, and condition your beard, so while it won't necessarily make your beard straighter, it will keep it healthy, shiny, and hydrated which goes a long way in making it look its best. Scent-wise, it's really all about personal preference - I'm a Tree Ranger guy myself, and our Tea Tree, Spiced Citrus, and Four Vices are popular as well. Beard on!

      "A man who shaves his beard for a woman, deserves neither." You don't go around asking her to shave her head, do you? You can always agree on a 'happy medium'. Maybe you can trim it a bit; but why remove it completely if it makes you happy? Love goes beyond the superficial. In the end, it's your decision. But think it through, bearded brother.
