Massey Ferguson 175 3-Point Hitch Won't Lift: What I've Learned About 100 Series Hydraulics

- This video starts in the middle of my own hydraulic horror show as I attempt to reassemble a 1964 Massey Ferguson 175 that I've split to remove and rebuild the hydraulic pump. I reinstall the hydraulic lift pump and auxiliary hydraulic pump. I adjust and reinstall the top cover. I put everything else back on successfully and run the bush hog to test everything.
If you want to know more about what lead up to this video, you can view the thread I started about the problem on the Yesterday's Tractor's Forum at: forums.yesterdaystractors.com...
The Tractor Forums thread where I found the tip originally shared by Big Dean about the 3/8" for setting up the top cover instead of the special service tool MFN-970 and anything that'll hold the arm extended instead of wedge tool MFN-163: www.tractorforum.com/threads/...
The reproduction special service tools can be found from VL Churchill & Co. LTD on their website at: vlchurchill.co.uk/
The carbide scraper that I mention is Lisle Tools 81810:

In my discussion of how the pump works, I misspoke. That first hole I point at is how it mounts in the tractor. It's not a port. It obviously intakes through the filter screen. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I misspelled auxiliary twice in the on screen text.
Awesome!!!
If a frog had wings 😂😂
👌👌👍👍 Well done! Thanks for the video.
@@texascottonfarmer Happy to help! Thank you! It was so much that I felt like I needed to get it down. My post on Yesterday's Tractors has a bunch of info about troubleshooting the hydraulic system and some pages from the manual and stuff.
@@caaaabot I have a MF 231, the hydraulic lift system is similar to yours. But the auxiliary hydraulics are connected at the access plate on top of the stand pipe. I need to change the hydraulic fluid in my tractor, but I'm afraid of what I'll find in the bottom of the case. 🤣🤣😂😂
@@texascottonfarmer Is that the set up where one position on the valve lets the 3-point function normally? I was looking at some pictures of different set ups on the 200 series just now but have only worked on and really researched 100 series.
You can easily drain and refill the oil like a normal oil change by removing the drain plugs and refilling through the port by the shifters on top of the transmission.
You really need to pop the top cover to get the safety wire redone if you want to change the filter screen. I'm not sure if you can physically get to it through the non PTO side cover.
@@caaaabot I do not have the auxiliary hydraulic connection on my tractor, but have investigated the possibility of installing one. (I just know how and where it attaches.) My tractor (supposedly) has a filter screen accessible through the PTO side cover on the left side of the transmission case. Thanks again for the info.
