I just commented. My English teacher in 1966 heard it then. I was taken back a bit by her statement, which was early acknowledgment of what you say here, Chapps.
He's a true legend in the same way I would say Lennon and McCartney both legend's. I think the term Legend gets overused a lot now, but with Dylan, Lennon and McCartney that's 3 true Legends who have the work to prove it. I got hooked on Dylan around 35 years ago, I was 15 and had played my brother's Dylan's greatest hits, and thought I must find more, so the first Dylan album I bought was Bringing it all back home, I was blown away, especially side 2 It's Alright Ma (I'm only bleeding) just changed my whole outlook on life, I believe they are the best lyrics I've ever heard, and that Album is a classic. I was 15, now 35 years later I have every Dylan album, including all 15 bootleg series, Side Tracks, live albums, the only ones I don't have is his 'Sinatra' trilogy, which I don't really want. I may buy them one day, just to complete the collection. So glad he got the Nobel prize for literature, just to put it in the faces of people who say he's got no talent. ?? Go back watching X Factor.
Thanks for publishing this. Best song he wrote, and Blowin' in The Wind and Times They Are a Changin...still as relevant as ever today. Bless you, Bob, and thanks.
I heard him sing this at the Festival Hall in London in May 1964. Just Dylan, his guitar and his harmonica. Nearly 60 years later I can still remember the atmosphere.
i guess im asking randomly but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me

Oh WOW! A gem to be sure. All these years gone by, it's fantastic to be a "part" of this treasure Woolhall. It's not so hard to imagine being right there listening at this time! As always take care and be well. Love this!
@ Bob Dylan,, Surely not THE REAL BOB, ?? But I cant miss the chance to say Hello to the Man who gave me the urge to get a Guitar after hearing Blowin in Wind ,57yrs ago when i was 13, I never did master the guitar but Im still tryin, hello bob, NOW ,i can tell all I said Hello to the one and only , I HOPE. ✊
helo Wooly first of all what happiness to find you among us and with such a treasure that happiness really ..... a big thank you to you..... have a nice day .... Sarah ♥♥♥
My English IV teacher, Mrs. Carter, borrowed my two Dylan albums for a few days (1966). Returning them she said "...I do not care for his voice, but this young man will be remembered as the greatest poet of this century..." 1966. She heard it early on.
I loved his voice because I have the same voice and it gave me the courage to get up on stage and not care so much what people think. And for reference, I was born in 1984. It was in college at the university of Alabama in 2004 when I started to play live. It was something I absolutely had to do.
Great to hear this, way before it was released on The Times They Are A-changin' album. I love this song. The album version when he blasts his harmonica break. Brilliant. So many songs he wrote that were classics. Same as John Lennon and Paul McCartney, writers of many tracks that will live on for generations to come. 3 of the biggest, greatest and most influential Songwriters/Musicians we will ever see. There's some great Songwriters/Musicians just below these 3, like Jagger and Richards, Pete Townshend, Paul Simon, Ray Davies, Neill Young, The Doors, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Sex Pistols, Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, Morrissey and Marr, Ian Brown and John Squire, Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Elvis Costello, Blondie.

I remember when Ralph J. Gleason, music critic for the San Francisco Chronicle, expressed his belief that Dylan will at some time take his place beside Shakespeare as a master of the English language. He was ridiculed at the time, but in his grave I'm sure he's smiling.
It’s not Suze Rotolo, she’s not in Dylan’s life by then, it’s Joan Baez with whom he sang the same song on the steps of Lincoln memorial at the March on Washington 28 August 1963!
He wrote some good songs (lyrics but not melodies which were mostly borrowed) but this is not one of them. Laughing fish and smiling seagulls are pretty funny. Why do so many people want to canonize him as the greatest whatchmacallit of all time? It must embarrass Dylan.
Thank u before my son passed he got me 6 tapes cds 4 my car so when I drive Andy's always with me

Has any musician been so singularly dominant whilst being so numerously faceted?
The most influential artist of the 20th C of any art, any genre.

I'm glad I am living during Dylan's time..Missed Shakespeare.

Great sound this ‘happy’ .. but harsh story upload So lovely Thanks Woolhall🌷🌻 Thanks Dylan❤️🌺🌹👌🌞 LYRICS: When the Ship Comes in
WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN
Oh the time will come up
When the winds will stop
And the breeze will cease to be breathin’
Like the stillness in the wind
’Fore the hurricane begins
The hour when the ship comes in
Oh the seas will split
And the ship will hit
And the sands on the shoreline will be shaking
Then the tide will sound
And the wind will pound
And the morning will be breaking
Oh the fishes will laugh
As they swim out of the path
And the seagulls they’ll be smiling
And the rocks on the sand
Will proudly stand
The hour that the ship comes in
And the words that are used
For to get the ship confused
Will not be understood as they’re spoken
For the chains of the sea
Will have busted in the night
And will be buried at the bottom of the ocean
A song will lift
As the mainsail shifts
And the boat drifts on to the shoreline
And the sun will respect
Every face on the deck
The hour that the ship comes in
Then the sands will roll
Out a carpet of gold
For your weary toes to be a-touchin’
And the ship’s wise men
Will remind you once again
That the whole wide world is watchin’
Oh the foes will rise
With the sleep still in their eyes
And they’ll jerk from their beds and think they’re dreamin’
But they’ll pinch themselves and squeal
And know that it’s for real
The hour when the ship comes in
Then they’ll raise their hands
Sayin’ we’ll meet all your demands
But we’ll shout from the bow your days are numbered
And like Pharoah’s tribe
They’ll be drownded in the tide
And like Goliath, they’ll be conquered

Laughing fish and smiling seagulls, such imagery. Started failing English/ poetry classes at school after hearing Bob. Oh well such were the 60"s.

It's sad that Theodore Bikel has been largely forgotten by history considering how well known he was back in his day.
I will look him up

I thought to myself - is that Theodore Bikel? And it is, I saw The Defiant Ones a few days ago - so the voice is familiar.

I think this song is clearly about the upcoming passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. All the lyrics fit.
