I can tell you right now, growing up in the hood, my fear was never a random white guy coming to shoot up the hood... It was drive bys.. or random shooting on the block because of a drug deal gone wrong... or just straight robbery at gun point. So if we are being genuine about murder rates in the back community, we need to take accountability ...

Keep up the good work. However, remember that in many cases the people who surround you can significantly influence you, especially in your younger years. If you grew up with friends and family who influenced you to commit crimes and that was simply your reality as a kid, it is difficult detach yourself from something that has been part of your life for such a long time.
Right off the bat its propaganda. There isn't an angry mob of white people murdering black people in the inner cities. I don't know who they're trying to fool.

@@Chris-ng8du Those are reasons not excuses. To say being poor makes you commit violent crimes wouldn't be realistic. I am born and raised in Harlem. I went to school. Worked as a cashier, saved money, brought a simple car, traveled a little, and chose my friends wisely. Now as a grown man, I have my own business and achieved everything I wanted in this world. All you need is the proper mindset and the right guidance. please do not focus on the past but be in the present moment and prepare for the future.
@A B I was going to blatantly come out and hit you with an insult but I restrained myself. Harlem in a early 90s used to be very bad. It was worse in the late 80s. At 41 years old, I'm telling you from experience , so you should do your research. And yes I know it's Manhattan but you have good and bad areas just like Chicago and Los Angeles. FYI, I've been to Dominican Republic I've been to Puerto Rico and I've been to South America. I've seen no support for the poor, bad infrastructure no jobs lack of education, virtually little to no opportunities for the comment man or woman. These people come to America and try to make a better life for themselves. In Missouri or Arkansas they are a lot more opportunities than in a third world country ( exclude PR). The point I'm trying to make is that it's your choice you can move to a different location or take advantage of opportunities that you have at your disposal. Or you can play the victim card and choose to commit crimes to survive. I can tell you an example of a friend of mine's who lives in Brooklyn. He's family came from Haiti his father did odd jobs got his driver's license became a cab driver put all his kids in community college. Now my friend is making $250,000 a year as a project manager. 😂 He only goes to the office twice a week. God bless him in a right choices he made 👌

My view is that weak dems have decided to let habitual felony criminals go and do it all again. They need to be held responsible by voting weak judges, prosecutors and mayors out in November. If you want change , then you need to vote them out. We are giving criminals too many chances to "be a criminal".

I’m black, middle class, so maybe I’m out of touch. But saying “we need help” is part of the problem. Absolutely no community can thrive without picking itself up first. Other communities are too busy with their own problems (opioids, cartels etc.). We really gotta learn to stop asking because no one will give not because they don’t sympathize but only y’all know how to help yourselves cmon now, have more faith in what y’all can do to uplift YOUR children.
Ah yes because the entire “community” is responsible for the actions of low lifes. Thats like blaming all Italians for the mobsters that used to be running around.
What caused a given community to become crime ridden in the first place? If you are not looking at the underlying causes then you are missing the point. Communities of color are generally the most marginalized and suffer from constant profiling by police. The lack of opportunity and the growing wealth gap leaves these marginalized communities on the fringe of society. There is continued structural racism that perpetuates the divide in this country between people of color and whites.

In order for violence to decrease we as a people Black, White, Asian, Hispanic I really dgaf we all need to tackle this problem head on and stop beating around the bush. We need to really punish people for their crimes but also we need to restructure our system to focus on mental health. This is a problem that is not ever addressed. You can’t lock people up and not rehabilitate them and then let them out back into the public and expect them to acclimate back into society can you? It’s so stupid to think that and until we deal with that problem I don’t think anything will ever change in this country. It’s money over morals.
America has the highest incarceration rate of any country. We do hold criminals accountable and there’s still crime. Root cause is poverty and inequality and that’s what we should address if the goal is to actually reduce crime.
And the perfect way to do that is to change society’s outlook on responsibility and accountability itself. Fix the root cause of the issue and even poverty will fix itself. The opportunities to climb out of poverty, to gain education, and to better one’s social class/strata are already there and established. Now you just have to get people to actually boost themselves out. The real issue is that the people themselves choose to stay in their current predicament, then blame others for their own shortcomings. It’s like talking to narcissists at this point.
“Have we reached the ultimate stage of absurdity, where some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, while other people are not held responsible for what they do today?” -Thomas Sowell

Wym historically nations hated each other because of the past and what happend same things with tribes and kingdoms it’s all the same during slavery 18million black people were killed that’s 10 times more than the holocausts and till this day Jewish people still hold German government accountable for the past. White citizens who benefited from generational wealth from slavery in the United States aren’t different.
All the qoutes it works and it still doesn't take away accountability.. because people committing crimes today ARE going to jail however it's the laws of yesteryear there being locked up for as well
You can't just tell people to behave and expect it to work. Personal responsibility has to come from within. We can't affect it. We can only change their environment.
Personal responsibility has only ever been a feel-good way of saying nothing should be done. People don’t live in isolation, separate from communities and institutions. There is room to affect the environment so people don’t feel outside pressured to turn to violence. There can be room to take away firearms from and provide mental health treatment to people who express violent tendencies.

No shade but two fundamental views. Liberal takes the approach that if someone is doing something negative then it’s the system around them that has caused these actions (example poverty because of systemic racism increases theft in minority areas) or guns being available is the reason why people shoot others. Conservatives (well traditionally not counting some of the current people that went off into fascism) go for a more individualized view, if someone shoots someone it’s their fault exclusively not the gun store or the local governments, if someone is poor it’s their own fault etc etc.

To fix the problem, you have to identify the problem in the first place. Yah, the vast majority of this is in small regions of major cities. And, it's predominantly black on black crime. It has little to do with racism or firearms and everything to do with family structure, values, and character. A lot is caused by a lack of a father in the home. From the start of covid to just recently, things were for sure in favor for those committing crime that the actual victims defending them selves.. In Philadelphia, PA.. the homicide rate went up 40% from 2019-2020 then up nearly 13% from 2020-2021. Comparing 2019 to 2021, homicide has gone up nearly 60% and 2020 appears to be on the same track as 2021. That's pretty insane...
Yea, every other day there’s a teen or 20-year-old killed. I have been in this city for less than a year, and it's wild seeing this on the news daily (coming from TX). Thankfully I live away from these areas, so I don't know the severity. It seems that no one has any idea how to stop it.
from the bit that I saw, people in the comments section are being way too dismissive to the problem using the idea of accountability to throw away the worlds problems. Yes, accountability is why some African tribal folk are starving of famine. The truth is, that it is a mix and there is room for nuance. Schools in the US are funded via property tax. If you live in a poor neighborhood, chances are that your school will even lack the funding to help you become more education. Because yes, education does correlate with IQ.
Black people weren't allowed to carry firearms even for legal purposes. Are you suggesting we take guns from minorities in these affected areas? That's ludicrous and a continuation of the racist gun control that has put more black men in prison than weed. Most "gun crimes" amount to just carrying a gun out of concern for personal safety. Supreme court has spoken. Americans have the right to bear. ALL AMERICANS regardless of race or creed.
This entire video and "statistics" are completely skewed. It fails to mention that the majority of crimes are in the black population because it is caused by the black population and within the black communities. Poverty exists everywhere and in all communities!!! Some communities deal with it by educating their children, others with crime. This entire news segment misses the issue completely!!! Crime is up because we are allowing it to run rampant !!! Facts are facts, regardless of feelings.
Single moms having births out of wedlock with multiple men- there is no father. Imagine the values, morals, class and expectations instilled by a woman that has multiple kids by multiple men and never married…
Drunk hookups at parties are never a good idea but there is a definite double standard.Once a woman makes that first mistake of getting pregnant by a dude that leaves her, society puts her under pressure to get with another man because " only a man can raise a son" etc. It doesn't make sense to let Dad off the hook for abandoning his kid and put all the blame on Mom for not being psychic and knowing he would leave! Also, a lot of this happens in high crime areas so a bunch of these kids are probably products of r@pe.
@@mediabiassucks1803 Really… you never thought of looking up the stats??? Interesting… one should be married before getting pregnant and starting a family- it’s called being a responsible adult. Most of these births happen in low socioeconomic neighborhoods. You think that’s a coincidence, Huh 🤔 ? Not a cause n effect correlation… they get another man because they are poor, can’t survive on their own and see others in the neighborhood doing the same thing- same behavior. Hope this makes things clearer…
@@windriver4527 What stats? Who keeps stats on how many kids are products of r@pe? Not like all r@pes are even reported. Also, when did I say having morals was a bad idea? Also, why assume it's the boyfriend providing financial support, often it's the mother working while the unemployed boyfriend watches the kids (and hopefully doesn't molest anyone)!
That's right, this is what I don't like about people who have guns, when anger peaks and can't control emotions with weapons it can become a killer. If the perpetrator has an AR15, it can be a mass shooting.
These young kids in the blk community have no respect for anything or anyone, including themselves. It is going to be difficult to turn things around, even if the programs named are implemented. Stability starts with women choosing responsible men to have children with, and men taking that responsibility and marrying the mothers of their children. And most of all, Our society is going to have stop hating black men, and start listing to them when they let down their guard and tell us what they need to help them build safe, functioning, sustainable communities for themselves and their families. It has to start, or we will have another generation of children lost to the streets, which is bad for everyone in America.
"Our society is going to have stop hating black men...." Let's be honest, attitudes take a long time to change. That change in attitude can only start when those responsible for this crime start to change. You cannot expect the attitude towards criminals to change BEFORE they have stopped committing crime!
@@davidwebb2318 Black males have to stop being hateful towards themselves and everyone else.. even on social media I see black males being hateful towards their own race even more than racist people.
You neglected to mention that the reason that black people are 12 times more likely to be killed by gun violence is that they are killed by other black people!! At sone point you are going to have to take accountability for your own behavior and stop blaming the rest of the world for your poor choices. Racial issues exist all over the world and have from the dawn of time. Every ethnicity has its own struggle to overcome. Given the heavy emphasis on race in this video, it would have been very helpful to see the murder rate increase for different races. Without that basic data this video is much less impactful. The video states that violence is increasing across the entire country which would make you think the increase doesn't correlate to race.
@@diegolara4202 I'm not sure I understand. If the increase differs by race they should include the stats. If the increase is largely the same by race then just don't mention race at all. Not sure what political correctness has to do with that.
@@graham1034 I think you misunderstood me. I am actually agreeing with you. When I say its "politically incorrect" means that they rather not mention race because in today's society you can't offend certain people. If the majority of murders were "white" then they would mention it right at the beginning of the report and talk about it all day long. If you fall under certain groups they will never mention the stats because today its about not "offending" anyone. Saying something is politically incorrect, means that they rather not speak truth because it doesn't fit there narrative. Their narrative is that blacks are victims, and if they mention that blacks are the reason for the majority of gun violence then it destroys their agenda.

I feel like half of the content of this documentary was left on The cutting room floor. One of the people being interviewed talks about how we need to get back to utilizing compstat in our police enforcement practices but he never actually uses the word. Most people probably aren't used to the term compstat they're probably more used to hearing the term broken windows enforcement. CNBC probably decided against using these terms because they are publicly perceived as being bad, unfortunately they're perceived bad because of activists spreading misinformation. Another term that people think is bad is stopping and frisk. Well there were major problems with how Bloomberg was implementing this policy. Comstat and broken windows was being applied properly in the late 90s and early 2000s leading to New York City being one of the safest cities in the country. Another major topic that's missing in here is bail reform. Activists have for years been mising the term bail reform, instead of reforming the system they just been allowing criminals to walk free and all of this has been done under the disguise of anti-racism. There was recently a shootout on K Street in Sacramento. At first there was a lot of media coverage over this due to it being a violent crime. However once the investigations were uncovering who was responsible for the shootout miraculously coverage of the event seemed to go away. The three main players all had numerous prior convictions and pending charges. Prior to recent California bail reform all three of these individuals would have been in jail awaiting trial for previously committed crimes. The fact that all three of these men were black also probably didn't help push the preferred narrative. A lot of the problems we are currently experiencing right now is due to people putting forth their anti-racist policies. Not realizing that their policies are actually hurting the people they claim to want to be helping. I am not sure why the media believes it's racist the point of FBI crime statistics which state that 98% of all black homicides are committed by black individuals. CNBC wants to put out a video calling out poor public safety policies they should actually call out the poor policies by name instead of just alluding to them. Actual reform is not going to happen until you call out the bad actors.
This is all CNBC does on this platform. They collect interviews most often with credible, authoritative sources and edit out the points and terms that they don't want to address. It's frankly disgusting.
Thanks white guy. Now can you come up with a solution for your fellow yeehaws going around committing massacres at huge public events, or public spaces. Since you know, you're good at poiting out the black guys. I'll be waiting, but won't hold my breath. Cue your fellow hicks in arms as well
And of course no one dares stating the obvious : this homicide spike is fueled by the obscene level of availability of guns in the US. When anyone can get a gun no questions asked , when law enforcement people have to operate under the assumption that a gun can be pointed and shot at hem at any moment, many situation that would have resulted in non fatal injuries end up as homicides situations..
At the end of the day it comes down to personal responsibility. We have a limited amount of time on earth and what we decide to do with it reflects who we are. Coming from Baltimore City, which has been ranked in the top 5 most violent cities in the US for basically the last decade, it’s very easy to see what the problem is for many in those environments. It’s a culture problem. Going to college in the south and living in different parts of the country one can see how culture impacts the community. For example, the city I lived in while attending college had fewer out of wedlock births, fewer teen pregnancies, fewer juvenile truancy and delinquency, fewer incarcerated men, and overall a two parent family structure, which is far better than what I witnessed for years where I’m from. How do I know, I took a course in demography and statistics. You can blame elected officials, police officers, teacher, or whomever else you want to blame. The truth is that it starts in the home and until you establish values in the home you will continue to see the situation get worse and worse. More crime, more black men locked away for years, more excuses about how “this and that” are against you, yet you continually allow yourself to fall victim to it over and over and over again. No family values = no self agency = perpetual excuses. If you want to make a change for the better you need to do it now because no one is coming to save you. You have to save yourself.
The problem is that progressives generally don't like the idea of traditional family. It sounds too conservative. In a sense some even suggested that pushing traditional family values is racist and it's a white thing. In a public health courses they were even downplaying the effect of 2 parent homes and suggesting there was no significant difference. I was astounded!
I live in New England- very little crime, great education, strong 'family values'.- you know, people with a very strong sense of 'personal responsibility'- in addition to strong community personality. I've also lived in the South- where many of my neighbors believed that anything they declared as their personal 'freedom' was their 'right' no matter how it affected their larger community. I'll take New England any day.
The American culture we have today didn't just spring up out of nowhere. Neighborhoods weren't exactly integrated for the last 70 years, they were FORCED to be segregated. Culture would be very different had everyone started in the same neighborhoods where all social structures had equal support. This was and is still not the case. This is what you get with racism.
@@stancooksj this doesn’t happen in white neighborhoods, it happens in black neighborhoods, blacks shooting blacks. You can blame racism all you want but for all it’s evils, it did not spring the violence in our cities
No mention that most of the individuals carrying out violence on the African-American community are part of the same community? Is that not okay to talk about anymore?
The death penalty doesn't work, I'd always preferred to be killed than to endure a lifetime of imprisonment without a chance of parole, knowing that i got no chance of freedom.

I just think morality should be across the board, not just a female's responsibility. What's with the lecture? Also, why assume it's the boyfriend providing financial support, often it's the mother working while the unemployed boyfriend watches the kids (and hopefully doesn't molest anyone)!
Every guy with a gun thinks he’s the good guy. It only takes one moment of anger to turn someone with a gun into a murderer.
Where Murder Rates Are Rising In The U.S.
exactly in states that are democrat run and pro defund police and stuff.....
"Our society is going to have stop hating black men...."
Let's be honest, attitudes take a long time to change.

Those who continue to blame others and don’t make hard work and personal responsibility a priority will continue to struggle.

Sick of the excuses for bad behavior. No one condemned for intensifying the issues in their own communities. That goes for all races. The poor all suffer. Not just black and brown people. Nothing will change with this logic. Only get worse. Need to call out and vilify the people committing these crimes, not glorify it and make excuses. Blaming police. Am I crazy?
Agreed.
Given the heavy emphasis on race in this video, it would have been very helpful to see the murder rate increase for different races. Without that basic data this video is much less impactful. The video states that violence is increasing across the entire country which would make you think the increase doesn't correlate to race.
It's not politically correct to do so.
50 years ago the news was different. 50 years ago the news was a government mandated requirement of TV channels, there wasn't a profit motive so there was at least an attempt to be impartial and they put in the work to understand and teach. Quote of the Day: Stop 🛑 coddling Criminals. Quit treating Criminals as if they’re the victims. Criminals become embolden to take the streets because of weak on Crime policies. Protect the community.
How it’s a attack on black men when y’all the one killing each other
I feel like half of the content of this documentary was left on The cutting room floor.
💯💯💯💯💯
This is all CNBC does on this platform. They collect interviews most often with credible, authoritative sources and edit out the points and terms that they don't want to address. It's frankly disgusting.
Thanks white guy. Now can you come up with a solution for your fellow yeehaws going around committing massacres at huge public events, or public spaces. Since you know, you're good at poiting out the black guys. I'll be waiting, but won't hold my breath. Cue your fellow hicks in arms as well
Preying on the weak is never necessary, it’s learned behavior
And of course no one dares stating the obvious : this homicide spike is fueled by the obscene level of availability of guns in the US. When anyone can get a gun no questions asked , when law enforcement people have to operate under the assumption that a gun can be pointed and shot at hem at any moment, many situation that would have resulted in non fatal injuries end up as homicides situations..
Bring the fathers back into the homes, stop letting the government (tax payers) be the baby daddies!
You mean the military?
Are you being forced to leave your house?
I agree. When you’ve moved around in different types of neighborhoods you will see the cultural differences.
"The perpetrators are traumatized" That's BS.
No mention that most of the individuals carrying out violence on the African-American community are part of the same community? Is that not okay to talk about anymore?
