Thank you! You are darling btw. I came in to research the loop for my son. This was so helpful and thank you for being so transparent with the care of your diabetes. You rock!
This was a great intro, thanks. We are moving towards switching to Looping with our 16 year old daughter, and I'm looking forward to sharing this with her. Thanks for putting yourself out this way.
Hi and thanks so much for your video! I’m a fair bit older than you (60!) but watching videos about looping with the omnipod makes me really want to start looping. The only thing is, how technical is it? Do you need to adjust Basals before starting? I’ve ordered a Riley link and am going to give it a go...but a bit scared about building the app!
really great info thank you :) I think I would personally not do it but you do you and I'm really glad it works so good for you :D I just have one question: How do you do things with the Riley Link and flying? I guess it's the same as with phones and pumps and stuff right?
ninaandianfan21 Hi! I would say as far as flying it’s even less of a hassle. (I always keep my Riley Link in my Backpack) so TSA does not question what it is or anything like that. The scanner also does not seem to mess it up. Thanks so much for your comment!
Thanks for the video!! We just started using the RileyLink for my 10 year old. He has an iphone but how does the Apple Watch work? Can you leave the phone in the house and go for a walk away from the phone and the watch still work like the phone?
Just wondering if you would consider going back to looping? I have been using Loop since September and would find it hard to manage my diabetes without it. I am also using G6 with Omnipod, keep up the good work!
This feels like a dumb question, but it seems like you’re pretty quick to respond to your followers! I have been really interested in the RileyLink and Loop system, but I cannot find the app on the App Store (when I search “Loop”, it just gives me a lot of sound/video looping). Do you know exactly what the app is called now?
@@TheDiabeticCactus Ohhhhh when I’ve heard “build the app”, I assumed that meant that I went to the app and then had to put in all of my settings and background information, so I would “build” the app. That makes sense, then! I’m guessing that is what the GitHub link is for
I thought with the loop.. You didn't have to do anything.. Since the pod does the same thing.. You input carbs.. It recommends the amount of insulin.... I'm confused.. I'm about to get the g6 because I thought the loop gave you insulin needed based on what the g6 shows..
I would say the best way to describe loop is it takes a lot of the thinking out but you still have to do some work. You still have to put carbs in, if you don't cover carbs your BG will go up and loop will give you extra insulin but its not the same as giving yourself a dose with all of your calculations (carb ratio, insulin sensitivity etc). So if you eat lunch, and you don't cover any insulin and your blood sugar goes up your loop will start trying to correct you. Hope that makes sense! The loop docs have a ton of answers to questions like these!!
Thanks for letting us follow - we are using the Riley Link and would suggest that you go thru kdisimone.github.io/looptips/settings/settings/ to fine-tune your settings. Good Luck - Keep Going!
hey there :) it was nice to watch your vlog. Though I am a bit concerned about you. without any judgment, I am afraid that your sugar is way too high on average. even before workouts. I know that workout drops the blood sugar but I noticed about my self that if I start the workout within the range I still finish it within it. in the worst case, I carry with me glucose tablets. I stick to a low carb diet since it gets me little to zero spikes of sugar. I found out that it takes a lot of time to come back to the range and then I have to eat again which spikes the sugar again. low carb diet skips the whole thing and keeps the sugar level where I want it to be. I wanted to look for information regarding the loop thing and thanks to you I decided to stick to my PDM since I don't see the benefits of looping. I would highly recommend you to try to decrease your carbs, you will feel much better. When you said that you usually eat a banana and hazelnuts cream in the morning I almost choked of surprise, I wouldn't dare eat that unless there is a special event. anyway, stay strong with that beautiful smile on your face since it is more important than anything else in my opinion.
Have you tried going low carb? I completely understand if you don’t want. I think it is nice to experiment different thing and be open minded, makes life a bit more spicier. Have a great day 😃
Something that I have noticed many of us type 1s don't think about... Is that damage is occurring when sugar is at 280... More so than when it's lower.. You may not feel it now... But you will when you get older and your eyes start going.. Just a thought..
I like your videos but I watched your day in a life on pens video and it made me squirm. You really should not be reusing needles and changing them for every injection 😬

I would suggest keeping your phone and your Riley link near you at all times!
how difficult is it to program everything for the loop
Just wondering if you would consider going back to looping? I have been using Loop since September and would find it hard to manage my diabetes without it. I am also using G6 with Omnipod, keep up the good work!
I don't think so, I find much better results personally on MDI so I think I will stick to this for now!
im on the omnipod dash and i use a samsung phone? do i need an iphone and does the dash work
not sure, sorry!
Which pump are you using ? Omnipod? Do you sleep better with the loop?
I see you’re using the omnipod. So you don’t need the PDM anymore ?
Hi! Im curious if once you switch over to the link if it is possible to switch back to the PDM, if i didn't like it for some reason.
Yes you can!
The Diabetic Cactus thank you!!

So the trick here is you have to build the app yourself, it’s not available to just download in the App Store!

Do i you have to use your pdm or do you just use your phone?
No, your phone becomes your PDM

Does it also work for de medtronic 670g?
No it only works for the older omni pods, and an older Medtronic pump but I can not remember which one.
