Please spread the word to your fellow northeasterners FL is super hot and humid most of the year. They should stay up there.
Bought a black van without AC to drive through Florida?
Didn't think that one through, did you?
That’s what I was thinking lol
It’s a lifelong Floridian…. Last year it was 95° at Thanksgiving! We get cool spots, but normally it stays hot. And humid!
When you go east towards Miami make sure you don’t break the speed limit when you travel trough the Indian reservation. It is one giant speed trap all the way to the Indian casino. In Florida you will end up changing shirts, two or three times a day because of the humidity in the summertime.
Good thing I drive slow
Ybor pronounced EE BOR.
Florida humidity is no joke. I work outside on Clearwater Beach and see heat stroke often. DRINK WATER! It's just not safe to live without A/C in the summer.
Welcome to Paradise!
@@sherrihodges849 I was born in Coral Gables. Lived in Florida the majority of my life. I'm 67. I didn't have air conditioning until I was in my mid 20s. I didn't have ac in school at all. So, it's all in what you are used to. My Dad was a construction worker. He worked out in the sun all day. I am a ginger, I burn every day all day long. I miss Florida but all the people who are moving in from up north and Canada are ruining it.
hydrate, man, hydrate!
The problem of traveling in the Southeast region of the United States is the dealing with the heat and humidity. It seems to be worst in the shoulder periods around August, September, and mid-October. Some areas are better than others, if you can find an area with a good amount of coastal sea breeze is even better.
The name Ybor is pronounced (ee·bor), it's a Spanish name for the location is well know for the cigar industry. When I was a kid, I use to call it (why·bor).
So I guess I’m experiencing the worst of it. Would be great in winter but this was brutal.
Yup, Florida heat and humidity is a shock to New Englanders when you arrive in the summer. If you're there long enough you might get adjust to it. Years ago I moved from the Boston area in June. After a couple of years I moved back north. I liked it and still miss it at times, but really missed Fall in New England while I was there. Snow birding seems like a good option if you work remotely.
As for gators, there's probably one in every body of water.
Thanks for the insight. I encountered several former Bostonians while in Florida and they all told me they want to move back.
And just to let you know, every police officer in the state of Florida knows we all live in an RV and because they watch TH-cam!! They also made it against the law to sleep on the street as of October 1 in the entire state of Florida. The police can ask you to leave the spot you’re in specially if you’re in a rich neighborhood. So make sure you have your registration your insurance card and your drivers license handy. And you can’t sit outside your car in a lawnchair in a parking lot that constitutes sleeping and loitering in the street…. Be careful.
That sucks, makes my decision about moving to Florida easier.
I enjoyed your video. You are extremely dehydrated as a long-time Floridian. You need not drink carbonated soft drinks 1 gallon of water per day. If you get disoriented and confused, you need to go to ER and get an IV. Also, it's the best time to visit after Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time here
Thanks for the tips!
Did you do any research on Florida before you started this adventure? How do you stay in a van in southern Florida with no A/C?
Sheer force of will
@@undertheradarvan another bad hurricane headed that way now. Gonna be there next Tuesday or so.
I hate when it gets humid in the north, I couldn't imagine having to deal with it day in an and day out. Would you consider going west? You could find a place that has milder winters but does not get humid in the summer. I do have to say though, if I had my choice of winter cold vs Florida humidity, I'm taking the winter all day.
Yeah winter cold stings but at least it doesn’t make you physically nauseous
Get a bag of charcoal and a small charcoal chimney. Much easier than building a fire if you want to cook something fairly quickly.
Do you even know what the Everglades are? Do you know what a swamp is?
The Everglades are named for Joe Everglade, the founder of Florida.
It’s Ybor, pronounced Ee-bor!
Ybor. Pronounced Eeebore. You do a disservice to an historical area of Tampa. By the way . Try to leave town before Tuesday . A hurricane is coming And no you cannot survive in a van heated to 128 degrees.
Its pronounced ee-bor City
Y is pronounced as EE. Seebor minus the s sound.
State parks are about $35 a night??
You can’t roll into a state park without reservations at 10pm, in any state I’ve been to.
@undertheradarvan but you rolled into the hotel in daylight. I think the hotel parking would be great in a pinch...like rolling up at 10pm. But if you planed just the day of, I think a SP would be a much better option. Water, power, some have showers. Etc
Under the Radar Van, Did you delete my comment?
I didn't delete anything... what was the comment? YT removes comments but I can't control that.
@@undertheradarvan Something to the effect that you may want to get some advice from us Floridians. (Addendum: Had I known you were attempting to enter the state of Florida without a vehicle air conditioner, I would have had Governor Ron DeSantis stop you at the border, and put you on a plane to Martha's Vineyard.)
