Healthy relationships typically take some time to build. So it's totally okay if you don't have a deep friendship or romantic relationship until much later after you've moved.
@@MaureenBlanco there's not really a definite amount of time. Deeper friendships take a few months to build I've found. Of course, it can depend on a lot of things. But it certainly won't happen overnight.
I’m moving somewhere new in about a month and it’s to start my dream career. I just had a small cry session because I have social anxiety and really struggle with making new friendships that aren’t just surface level (cause I’m scared of actually being vulnerable with people). I want to have real friends but it’s so hard for me to just be real with others. This video made me feel a little better. Thank you!
I remember a few months ago commenting on one of your videos how I felt like i wasn't enjoying studying abroad as much as I thought I would. 2 months later, I can definitley say that I don't feel that way anymore as I did. I'm leaving in a month or so to go back to my homecountry, and although I will be coming back after the summer, a part of me is sad that I am leaving even if it's for 4 months. Funny how just a few months can change your perspective on living abroad.
I moved 3 hours away from my hometown for school and the first 3 months were so hard and I would say school distracted me from feeling homesick. Now its been 3 years and I’m done with school so I started feeling homesick again but I am just now getting more comfortable living here, making friends , going to church, going to therapy 😊 its hard but doable!!!
I just moved to a new place alone and learning so much about so many things! I kind of missed the ball on this one in my 20s and now finally doing it in my 30s. This new place is so beautiful and excited for what the future holds. ✨
Hey I am in my 30s too. I quit my job and was going to move last October, and then I just... Stayed. It has been eating away at me for the last year. It's like I said I was going to do something, and then I didn't do it! I know I HAVE to do it though.
I recommend doing it! Of course, ensure you have a job and finances in order but it’s so rewarding. I have really been loving it and going to move to another new city in December. It’s okay to be alone and you learn so much about yourself. I totally understand how you must feel. Why don’t you try booking an Air BnB in the area you are interested in for 2-3 months to get a feel for it. That way you can get a better understanding of what it’s like for you. I wish you all the luck!
I’m 32 and have always lived with my mom and so has my brother. Right now I’m living with my mom, my brother, his wife and 2 kids, and my sister-in-law’s niece. It’s hard. It’s really hard. And I hate my job and there isn’t anything to do in my town because it’s going downhill. So I’m planning on trying to get a new job in a city about an hour and a half away and getting my own place. The reason I am choosing this specific city is because I do have family there. I have aunts and uncles and cousins there that used to live in my hometown but moved years ago and who I only saw on thanksgiving and Christmas until they got married and had kids and then there was wedding and baby showers and birthdays. But still, I don’t have much of a relationship with them as I wish I did. But I wanted to move somewhere new away from my current stress where I don’t know anyone except for a handful of family members. Currently in the process of looking for a job now! Wish me luck! 😁👍🏻 hoping to get closer to my family while living there and make at least 1 close friend and maybe date. I know it’s gonna be so scary but I’m also excited at the same time. So many pros and cons of me staying in my hometown but moving out and getting a new job or getting completely out of my comfort zone and trying new things
What a beautiful soul :) Thankyou for taking the time to articulate so well a difficult time in people's lives and giving people understanding, support and action plans, bravo :)
I was having an existential crisis a while back since i'm moving away from home for med school and I could not be more terrified, but watching this video really helped calm me down. I can't thank you enough for this
This has been so reassuring for me! I’m doing a major cross country move totally by myself to a new city for school where I know NO ONE and I’ve been so anxious about it.
I'm 63 and planning on moving to a new city next year. More excited than apprehensive. I believe loneliness, within limits, can help you discover yourself and your possibilities.
Love when you deal with the frighten of studying abroad and being alone in such a direct and honest way. I also gonna study abroad this Aug and your videos make me less frightened about going to a new country with tons of new things and stresses. ❤❤❤
You are so so brave and thank you for being so honest, I have moved far away and it is so bizarre. Everyone of course talks about the amazing parts, but it's so shocking how people fade away, phone relationships are hard, etc
Watching your videos really makes me feel like it is not just me who feels this way. It is a big move and for a couple of days I have been in constant emotion rollercoaster of feeling excited but also crisis 😂😂
Thanks for the video! I’ve struggled with isolation most of my teen years and I didn’t do great in school, but now I’m looking into LA film school which is all the way in California (I’m a Wisconsin girly)- but I’m really pushing for this because it’s something I really really wanna do but it’s just so intimidating! ❤
I'm moving across the country next week for a new job and i'm scared. I had an experience moving abroad before but that has been a while and it was only for one year. thanks for making this video
Thank you for this video. Moving to an entirely different state in a couple days, and I’m very excited but also kind of nervous to be in a place where I have no connections. It’s gonna be all about making new friends, lol

And there’s obv plenty of places to perform your music lol if you have any questions on the city, feel free to ask

Hello, Move abroad for a short time. I am from Ecuador, South America. The fact that I move to Japan was a total cultural change. Want to remind everyone how strong and brave we are to move far from home. It is okay to feel all this emotions and you are no alone. I can tell you that it is hard, but as a phrase I like to repeat rain it is not permanent and sun will always comes up. Best advice if you feel any emotion start to learn to feel the emotion and let it go. Do not keep the emotions in you because some of them will get together and one day explode. Also there are always good people that will help you and show you that kindness still exist and that will help you through your journey.
I am Ecuadorian too, and i also happen to be moving to Japan I am so close to my family and already have mental issues so I’m scared for my future self when i move, im going to Osaka institute of Fashion for 4 years and possibly permanently afterwards… Watching this from France where i am currently studying abroad! Thanks for the tips :) I agree that the first week can be the hardest, I remember being very homesick but once school started and I made some friends I felt much better.
I moved to a new city for the first time in my life and ofc the first time is the biggest because I moved abroad. I moved to live with my long distance boyfriend (and to go to uni) so I had a built-in best friend who already lived here for a year and took care of all the stressful things (he even found me a job). I’ve been here for 1,5 month and he went back to our home country to visit family and I stayed here. Alone. Without any friends. I feel so alone but the thought that I am going to meet people once the academic year starts makes me hopeful in all of the moments when I go insane for a second and think that it’s going to be like this for the rest of my life.
Literally need this kind of video🥹 I'm moving out of our city to work and it's my first time to be far away from my family... I'm kinda scared but excited at the same time.
Lately ive bwen feeling a bit down by things in my life and i consider at times moving to a small town. My fam is not up for it, and i dont even have a plan lol. But when i actually think about it i feel relaxed but when i visualize my life there and how it'll be with new friends and stuff, idk why, but i feel pretty anxious. Id miss where i live now pretty badly tbh...

I worked this past summer in a different city all by myself, however I wasn’t too worried about it as I was coming back to school where my girlfriend, friends and family were. Now I don’t have the comfort of knowing that it is temporary, so I am worried. Hopefully I can use some of these suggestions and can make it through haha.
