Cool-S-Hook! And the company for the road and active events in the journey can be found in the app I am Going To. It's easy to find company in the bar, but fishing or snowboarding a problem!
So grateful for this video. 2 years ago saw it and bought one of those flip and tumble bags, a hook, and that exact silk liner. I've used all of them while staying in hostels since then. Thanks Christine for your videos they are extremely helpful!
Subscribed short bit ago, preparing for first international trip. Just wanted to extend my thanks and appreciation for your thoughtful videos and wide variety of topics other than the most obvious. In this video I was especially impressed with the "S" hook and "body condom" silk sheet ideas. Smart.
I like the idea of the travel sheet. Many discard it but it's those who haven't ever had beg bugs. I've had it twice and is not fun or attractive! The silk must be cool for the tropics yet warm elsewhere. Thanks for the tips.
@Safaa Jasim: They should be fine. I stick them in my toiletries purse in my carry-on (which I always use these days) and security's never mentioned it.
+GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa If you`re searching to find best hotel deals and some trip plan, +besttraveltrip. com+ can give the information about that in the surrounding area to save you time and money on your next vacation.
Yess!! Haven't done a Hostel stay yet but when I do - I know what i'm bringing!! Especially the chargers because I feel like 70% of what I bring is electronics lol!
I bought the hook, i-pod adapter plug, and mini flashlight and a second mini nap sac at the dollar shop. Now i'm ready for NYC . i-pod download to you-tube too slow might try to do the downloads on the bus ride home and do final edits at home. Photo's to Facebook seems to works good.
I gonna go nyc for my first trip and the hotel I booked had bedbug 3yrs ago. I happened to find ur video and thx for the usuful tips. I must buy silk liners!!!
After i saw this i video went to the dollar shop to find that kind of mini tote bag. I got something similar it folds out to be a nap sack with zippers and a side pockets for $2 same size as the one you got. Going to NYC staying at the West Side Ymca for 2 nights. Taking the bus out of Toronto. I wanted to do the trip with just one small pull luggage. But needed something to hold a travel pillow and water and snack i was planning to sleep on the midnight bus. And when i get off the bus at 9 a.m. i can stuff it all back in the small pull luggage. Thanks
Donald Brown AWesome! Yeah, they work perfect for planes too and groceries. You got a foldout nap sack for only $2? That's a great deal. I have a couple of foldup backpacks and they cost nowhere near that. =)
GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa yes $2 i cant beleive it either i did a test packing it fit the dollar shop travel pillow and dollar shop blanket throw cover and room for water and muffins it turns inside out so the part that you fold it out 4in x 3in will hold my ipod power cord and adapter there is suppose to be free wifi on the bus. You do great video's and edits i like the fact they are 4-5 min that is the perfect length.
One thing I consider more of a travel necessity these days is a USB power bank. You don't need to use the outlets (as much) and you can charge your important devices, like your phone/ tablet right next to you instead of having it exposed to the possibility of theft.
Personally I’d recommend to just bring 2 power banks with high memory as you seem to travel to asia more and in most Asian countries the voltage is a lot more powerful than in the US and UK so using things like multiple power sockets in one for foreign devices can be a bit dangerous. Also rather than the body condom (which is also a good idea) all countries with and mosquito or malaria problem do supply ointment creams, body sprays or scented lights to plug in which all work very effectively. I know this is im UK born and have been India 13/14 times with sweet blood.
This is great. Lots of less obvious items I hadn't thought of before. Do you think the silk sheet helps with avoiding bugs in your luggage or could they jump on to the sheet and come with you?
Getting Close to There's always a possibility bed bugs could hop a ride on your luggage, so I always keep my luggage away from my bed or any fabric items/sketch areas. I'm not sure about if they can hitch rides of the silk liners, but I know silk is not porous like cotton. That would be something good to research.
A simple hook...wow...that totally makes sense. Thanks for sharing that one, Christine. I just assumed hostels were built like hotel- like amenities. Because I camp a lot, I usually bring paracord to hang things.
Paracords would be great for laundry and securing your bag! Yup, hostels and hotels aren't the same. Hotels provide amenities and hostels mostly just supply the bed and sheet. Shared spaces and bathrooms makes it a bit of a workaround.
Hi Christine .. Another useful tips, many thanks for sharing .. Only I'm wondering if the hooks are allowed into the "Cabin Backpack Baggage" and they don't think these are sharp tools that we are going to hijack the plane! xD
Safaa Jasim so far I've gotten away with bringing mine on Air Canada, Porter, and JetBlue. :) And thank goodness because they are so useful in hostels!
Sooo this maybe silly, but that silk thing. Is it for your bed, pillows, go over luggage, etc. What exactly do you put it on? Do you use the flashlight to look for bedbugs at hostels? One more thing lol i have never stayed in a hostel. Do you happen to have a list of hostels that you love and use around the world? Thank you
Lucky Uptown Chick Did you watch this video with the sound off? lol. A silk liner is something campers like to put in their sleeping bags for extra warmth, but travelers can use it as a sleeping bag/sheet for similar purposes and to help avoid beg bugs bites. Most countries have hundreds to thousands of hostels; with everything, you should do always research before booking a stay, as they quality and staff can always change.
I need an eye mask & white noise app. I've had to get comfortable with ear buds overnight, but I've been able to sleep through more than my fair share of drunk &/or snoring roommates. haha
I always just check for bedbugs every time i enter my room. Takes 5 minutes. Bedbugs are easy to spot. Then i get another room after complaining. Silk sheets don't work. Bedbugs move rather fast and can climb to openings easily. I once woke up to maybe 30 bedbugs on my pillow (the pillow i bring from home). So the ONLY way to stop bedbugs from getting you is get another room.
I like the body condom silk because even the most wonderful hotels are full with Disgusting bugs If you use the luminal spray and use the blue light OMG! Shocking experience and I'm not even talking about the bugs spletter pattern's on the bed walls floors so nasty! Careful I want the silk protection sheet Thank you very much for the info hugs Sapphire aka Zaffy 🙏💕✌

+freyja77 yay!!!!! Thanks for sharing! 👌👌👌👌Those flip n tumble rock the bomb- I still always pack all these items. Simple but best investment!❤️

I definitely never would have thought of some of the things you mentioned that certainly seem essential. Thank you for making this video.
You're welcome Matt!
You need to do more videos! I'm totally binging on them right now and I NEED MORE!!!
Guapo Vagabondz Tales Every Friday! I like binge watchers- hang in there. ;)

S-hook! Genius! I also use the reusable bag for my toiletries and always am praying for a hook! Haha, problem solved, thank u!
You're welcome! Yup- been there with you countless times.

Thanks for mentioning USB ports on the multi-chargers. I actually decided to delete that 4 sec bit to make my video shorter. lol.
Thanks for the tips! Very practical.
You're welcome Ryan Stevens !

I realize you might be joking, but honestly you never know what they will take from you in security! :o

We all do. =)
@@grrrltraveler agreeing with you 1000% Yuk😳😷
I need an eye mask & white noise app. I've had to get comfortable with ear buds overnight, but I've been able to sleep through more than my fair share of drunk &/or snoring roommates. haha
Sasha Forbes Earbuds are often a small but overlooked tool, especially for light sleepers. Is there really a white noise app?

+IEYE360 I take it, bed bugs happen to you a lot?
but where do you hang the hook?
+mrloy99 On the door, door knob, towel rack, etc...

shine the flashlight directly into the camera and wave it around...
Silk, aye? Never knew that.
Now you do! ;)
I hate bedbugs
Try to get your own room, for the snoring and the farting are too much, and these are ladies!
Some hostels have private rooms so just stay there :)
They cost more than hotels in some cases
you forgot a good lock
How to avoid catching scabies in a hotel?
lol body condom
